as if its bad.... is a VERY good rune especially if your a jungler, it gives extra stats and movement speed in river when u need to contest scuttle and also makes ganking lanes or escaping easier.

idk people call it bad

yes its fine as a jungler ... but over all for all other roles its pointless

why worry about water walking when predator exist? predator is 100xs better in every way possible ( IMO OF COURSE )

Laughing Fish10 votes

Predator is also a keystone, so of course it is more powerful.

right so why worry about water walking when you can go predator which is 100xs better and from knowing the OP is a nid main predator could help her alot. she could even forgo flash and take ignite + smite with predator to have more kill potential

Tahminatrix 3 votes

Because predator is a keystone in the domination tree and not a rune in the sorcery tree.

Its like you don't even understand the concept of runes and keystones.....or flash and how disgustingly important that sum is on almost every champion in the game.

so u are saying that nid or a jungler in general is gonna get more use out of waterwalking then predator?

and a champ with high mobility + predator could get away with not having flash

alot of shacos take ignite + smite and do just fine

but ur right i understand nothing

stupid me

Now you are putting words into my mouth, nobody here said that waterwalking would give more use than predator ITS A RUNE NOT A KEYSTONE WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU SMOKING.

I said ALMOST every champion in the game and then you give an example of 1 of exceptions, thanks for supporting my argument.

Talk to me when you realize waterwalking is a rune and not a keystone please. Its not like you cant have both, yet for some reason you compare the 2 as if they are meant to compete.

is it not part of the rune pages? they are all runes . they just have different names for what type of rune like in the old system , marks, seals, glyphs, quints

and i just said no one cares about waterwalking that predator is better which is true ... it is better

and im not smoking anything i dont do drugs nor drink

who says its shit? you take it on nearly every jger

Infernape7 votes

That's precisely why. It's shit unless you're a jungler.

But there were old masteries that were exclusive to junglers.. the buff extension and monster damage masteries. I don't see how a rune being good for only one role is a bad thing.

so? i mean we used to have a mastery that made red and blue buffs last longer.

we had a masteries that increased ward range

just because "not every class and use it", doesn't make it bad

he'll sorcery has a freaking KEYSTONE that no one can freaking use well. and the other two are practically identical

there are a bunch of work the sorcery tree needs.. but waterwalking is perfectly fine and it works great on the champions that need it

so? i mean we used to have a mastery that made red and blue buffs last longer.

Which helped Mid Mages who were given Blue, ADCs who were given Red, and Everyone who got Baron Buff.

we had a masteries that increased ward range

Which helped no one, because the range boost was negligible if you knew how to use the game mechanics to get the ward to place over a wall in a place that would otherwise be out of range.

just because "not every class and use it", doesn't make it bad

It's not a matter of every class not being able to use it. It's a matter of it being a better option than whatever else is available.

In some ways, Waterwalking is like item 3056 - It's only useful on a certain portion of the map, and you'll only be able to take advantage of it in rare situations. That makes it less appealing than something that can be used wherever.

I've never seen anybody hate on it. I've never even seen anyone mention it, other than "I can do scuttle pretty fast here because I took water walking and celerity"

Well, The problem with Waterwalking is hated maybe for the next reason

  1. Its only usable on the river, and usually team fights happens in the lanes.
  2. For ganking is rather useless, Junglers have to leave the jungle to gank, which makes this rune useless. Like whats the purpose of this Rune if you can't use it correctly.
  3. The Runes, Gathering Storm and Scorch give better effects, for example Gathering Storm gives 48 AP at 30 mins and Waterwalking give 30 AP at LV 18 and it only gives this AP at the River

And to be honest the only way I can see this being used is to do Dragon early

If I could rework this rune, I would change it into something related to bushes for example

** Adaptive Hunter **

  • (Outside of combat) After 3 seconds inside a bush gain Adaptive Hunter buff, that gives 3-20 AD or 8-30 AP (Adaptive and according to level) and 25 Movement Speed for 3 or 4 seconds. Entering another bush while this buff is on refreshes the duration. The buff will only refresh if the player is still Outside of Combat.

It was mediocre during pre season when everything else was OP.

A couple months into the seasons when everyone was gutted it was the best thing.

I dont see anyone trashing it anymore.

I don’t hate on it. I just don’t see a point in taking it personally. Water walking is only useful in the river, and the river is only one small portion of the map.

Every other rune is useful on every other part of the map.

Lol the only time I get biscuit is on nasus. I can be more aggressive and I can use my e more during lane. It actually does help a lot during laning phase when I am in a bad matchup.

True that is an option, but I dicked on so much in the early game as nasus that usually I need to use them early

Honestly I think its the whole "only works in the river" concept that makes people feel like it's a bit iffy. may not be bad, but I think people feel like it's generally very limited usage wise. Just looking at the map, the river covers a very small section and if you leave that area you lose all your boosts while other runes let you keep them no matter where they are. Though the counter argument could easily be that it's easier to take objectives as you do more damage and can reach them sooner. I don't use it much myself but I do like the concept of it. Love using it on Bard so I can make those Mid lane care package drops and get back to bot lane before any trouble shows up. Idk, its not really a rune I pay much mind too seeing as I mostly play ARAM anymore .__.

Waterwalking isn't bad persay. But it pales substantially vs Gathering Storm or Scorch.

There's just not many scenarios where Waterwalking adheres to "Safe play" or even combat situation.

You basically have maybe 5-6 river objectives per game, and when in combat, the river is the LAST place you want to be, because it's open, and hard to get to a safety. The subjective nature of the rune just makes it less viable (even on junglers)

Furthermore, Gathering/Scorch almost always outscale it on damage, or raw stats. And movement speed has a soft cap after which investing severely in move speed becomes an exercise in futility.

I almost EXCLUSIVELY use phase rush/celerity/nimbus cloak and on a lot of champs, Magical Footwear. My MAGES have base move speeds of some 467 or more. Karma has 524 on me, and bursts clear up over 700+ Move speed sometimes. Riverwalking might briefly put me to 709 on that build before dropping down like the rest of the boosts. At some point, it's just better to take the damage over the move speed.

There's just better move speed options (The ones I mentioned, + Relentless Hunter)

It gets hate because its value is limited to junglers.

Even then I don't think junglers were taking it until recently because other runes got nerfed to the point where water walking could finally compete with them.

It can be useful for middle laners who like to roam like Talon or Katarina.

Except neither of those 2 take sorcery primary. And their definitely better options than water walking secondary for non junglers.

Oleandervine1 votes

Waterwalking is incredibly niche, and only relevant on less than a 4th of the map. It's too niche in my eyes, and consumes a rune slot in Sorcery, which is already one of the most poorly developed trees that caters to movement speed more than actual spell modification for casters (which it was supposedly created), so it's got a few things going against it.
