Honestly though, was it even an inconvenience? It's not like it kills anyone to change an icon, do the missions, then change it back.

and then they have new missions that make you choose a new icon you don't want and so on and so forth.. yes it WAS a big issue.

I'm simply saying that equipping an icon really isn't a big issue. Do some people think it's an issue? Sure. But i'm not sure any one can actually make the claim that equipping an icon is a BIG ISSUE and defend it.

It's not an issue as much as it's an inconvenience and an annoyance.

Everyone knows the event is going on. You don't need to see every single person with an icon equipped to get that.

That wasn't my claim. My claim wasn't that changing your icon wasn't a very minor inconvenience and annoyance, it was that changing your icon really isn't a "big issue".

You needed to remember to switch it each time, which got taxing. Also, the point of icons is to have your own. If you wind up broadcasting the new icon of the month each time then it devalues icons in general.

Also, having literally everyone float an icon for two weeks wears people out on it, and drastically reduces the rate of usage after.

I just plain out refused to do the missions if it required me to swap icons. I don't mind if I like it, but I don't want to be FORCED to equip it.

Yes it is an inconvenience. First you have to remember to switch it out. Secondly what's the point of even having icons in the first place if you can't use the ones you want?

but icons are supposed to show your style (if only on the boards) requiring us to equip an icon messes with that and people who just dont remember can miss out on thigns

I'm glad they finally changed it ! Though ironically, the golden icons are the first one in a long time that look good enough for me to consider using them as my main icon.

Not having to equip a specific icon anymore is nice, but why are Missions suddenly forcing players to play SR again? The tech to have different objectives for different modes clearly exists, since Snowdown and some of the Lunar Revel Missions actually offer(ed) alternate objectives. It's frustrating and not fun having to choose between "playing the mode I want to play" and "participating in the event." Map-specific Missions make sense if they're specifically promoting/celebrating something (e.g. Star Guardian, possibly Worlds), but that's not the case for these Revel Missions.

The change to not require an icon is much better, but the change to exclude maps and players is significantly worse.

I earned this icon and I would like to use it. I don't want to use some ugly generic icon. Using the event icon also affects my forum posts. I like people on boards to see my plat icon.

The point of icons is personal expression. Not "required for this quest."

I also only play ranked. My icon is meant to strike fear into the hearts of my enemies. De-equipping it could decrease my chance of winning.

I'd like to thank them for allowing Vilemaw as an option! I had a rant-thread about a month ago about them not ever mentioning anything having to do with Twisted Treeline in Missions, and then gave them a bunch of different solutions, including having Vilemaw as an alternative epic monster. They apparently listened!

There was only one mission for ranked and it was made to get the ticket for the new 5v5 tournament mode where you need a 5 man premade team so it made sense. They don't do that normally.

Why are you doing missions in ranked. Honestly. I don't understand it. I mean, if you are confident enough to play a ranked game on a marksman, sure, do it, but if not, just do the mission in normal games. Nobody forces you to play ranked.

What are these missions you speak of?

"Defeat 2 enemy turrets within 30 sec of each other".

This was a "mission", one that required planning, teamwork, strategy, and invoked a sense of triumph and accomplishment when completed.

_"Do damage" / "Kill minions" / "Earn gold". _

These are bland, watered down, milestones of simply playing the game. Having them run concurrently really diminishes the feeling of progression even further...

Lackluster, Boring, and Unmemorable.

Theres so much right they did with missions. You have options to do X OR Y to complete this mission. They're not all PvP so no one has to fuck up your draft game just to do a mission. No more 5 man premades. They encourage objectives. They encourage destroying enemy wards and placing control wards !!
