I don't miss the gold generation, I honestly miss the final items with their actives... Whenever I get Braum, it's weird not having that Face of the Mountain and I cry a little bit. [zombie-nunu-tears]

AHarmlessTaco1 votesUhm, I would assume that they really skewed things. I know I always bought them and raked in like 2K gold by the end of the game. Just provided some champs with too much I guess and also prevented the AOE gold drop for some reason? Idk I love the changes, just miss the items.

Honestly, I abused those items to death, so I would probably say yes. Anyone who knew they were OP, pretty much had limited starting options, as they had to accommodate the item. And anyone who didn't was at a gold deficit.
But Like OP said, Gold generation wasn't everything. With the Relic shield line, it offered a decent sustain option that allowed melee who often had trouble getting farm, a little bit of ease. And the Frost Queens line, pretty much was my main poke item, getting extra damage with the tribute passive, (along with the gold) offered a decent amount of poke, compared to buying raw AP.
