Perfect quote about solo q.

option paralysis··101 votes·4,858 views

"Lost 2 games that weren't my fault, then won one not on my credit". Just watched some velkoz montage and the dude is spot on. He lost 2 games with scores like 12\1, then you win a game where you literally can play ap volibear and win. This is just a deep problem with matchmaking + autofill= unbalanced matches. There are so many frustrating games, if not all ranked games, but every patch is just a check mark on riot side, as if everything is fine and dandy. I see more and more players and even streamers getting frustrated with rank. It's just an awful feeling when you give your best and keep losing, then you see 2 dudes autofilled and 3 division lower than everybody else. If you start talking about mmr, then put me in a rank I deserve by that and not some grindy latter.

What exactly are you expecting from Riot? Are you unaware that the factor of human error is practically impossible to account for? How do you account for a player going 10/0 one game then the same player going 0/6 the next game on the same champion?

This shit is getting ridiculous. There is no way Riot can factor a person having a bad game. For example, I have a 63% winrate in SoloQ right now, but I still have bad games. How exactly do you want Riot to deal with this? Do they match me against Silver 5s because they suddenly turn into an omnipotent being that knows "OH YUP HES GOING TO HAVE A BAD GAME RIGHT NOW FOR SURE!"

There CAN'T be. It's not humanly possible. Get over it. Hate to break the news, but nothing in life is ever perfect. Sometimes you get the short end of the stick.

This, they can make it more precise by removing duo entirely, but that would only make it even worse. The current system is fine, not perfect but fine.

yes Id be in favour of removing duo que - for those that want to play with friends there is flex / team

Well good luck finding a match. If you think autofill is bad, wait until support mains can't duo anymore as the role is borderline balanced around it.

You'd be surprised, but the game wouldn't crumble because of lack of duos.

More often than not, it's the jungler that is duo'ing with a laner.

The game would definitely crumble because of lack of duos. A huge chunk of people play this game with friends and the only way for the game to continue to grow is to emphasize community and playing with your friends.

Though real talk, if you are genuinely curious you could probably ask Riot for the data. This sounds like something that they would track.

Oh, I've seen how well that "emphasizing playing with friends" turned out with the DQ fiasco.

Hint: It doesn't work, when you alienate the major part of the community that does NOT play with friends.

Playing since Season 3 (at least on this account) you should know that not only they track it, but also removed the availability of premade status from the Riot API.

Asking is pointless, because no data will not be provided.

If people want to play with friends- normal games exist.

Wanna do it in ranked? Flex Que

As much as riot hates it, solo que has always been about solo skill, if it wasn't, we wouldn't have individual rank.

League of Legends is a team game. Riot wants to find ways to force people to play like a team.

It's a team game in which its premier ranked mode has "Solo" in the name..

That doesn't mean it can't be better.

DarkfireAM8 votes

There is nothing wrong with this matchmaking system.

People always come on boards and cry about how they can't carry because of bad teamates. When are people going to realize that this is a team game and no matter how much they dislike it they have to work with teamates (sometimes who aren't up to your standards).

Players have complained about the ranking system since it was introduced, clearly Riot finds no merit in their complaints, like everyone who isnt stuck in "elo hell, otherwise they would have fixed it.

There is only one solution to the OPs problem, although I don't think he's gunna like it:

Get better at the game

If the OP truly deserved a higher rank they would be able to beat the lesser opponents into the dirt and carry their games. Clearly they can't so they don't deserve to advance.

Lets see, I was high d2 and then unwinnable streak happened and now I'm d5 0 lp. Didn't play ranked for a month, because the games were hopeless. Now, which rank do I deserve ? D2 ? I got there by climbing solo. Or do I deserve d5 rank ? If I deserve d5, then how did I get all the way up to high d2 ? You see what I mean. The answer isn't always "git gud morun". I saw a lot of people, like a lot saying they got d2-d1 then dropped all the way back to d5, it happens often. I don't think the reason is that you simply forget how to play, it's because there aren't a lot of players and if a one trick gets autofilled somehwere else, the game is lost in champ select. Or when I got in d2 promos a fucking autofill d5 top laner vs. a d1 top main, who do you think won the game ? C'mon man..

NíbbaBíbba1 votes

mid has a 50/50 chance to win lose bot has 50/50 chance to win lose jg has 50/50 chance to win lose so if you have a 51/49 chance to win lane at your current elo then you will inevitably climb

yes you may get a bronze 5 player autofilled mid against fuckking faker but that's just as likely for them to get the bronze 5 and you to get the faker

Mannny2 votes

This is only true if the players in the other roles have a half-and-half chance of feeding or winning, which is downright incorrect. If one player had 2 bad days by chance, that 50/50 percent chance of him winning or losing will probably favor the losing side, and vise versa .

NíbbaBíbba1 votes

the chance of him being on the enemy team or your team is even tho so the chance of a winning midlane is 50/50

Mannny2 votes

This is so incorrect lol. Winning midlane is determined by the randomness of what the player is feeling, and that goes for every role. Regardless if both players are equal in skill level Riot can not control how the players will play.

Faceroll Tactics2 votes

You won't "inevitably climb."

In a perfect world where it rolls an even amount of your team winning and your team losing equally, and you're the only different factor, then yes.

Probability doesn't work like that. Theoretically you could have your team lose all three lanes every single time.

MillForMe13 votes

It's all in your mentality, folks. There are definitely games that I could not carry, games that I won while being the heaviest teammate, and games where I spearheaded our charge to victory. What you're suppose to focus on is your ability to lessen how heavy you are, and increase how well you can carry. If you do this and improve your skills, knowledge, and other necessities, you'll definitely climb.

Ranked isn't for casuals. You have to understand that you're either virtually as good as the people around you, or you're dropping or climbing in elo. Focus on improving YOUR level of impact. Nothing else really matters in the long run, which is the only run, IMO.

some people just have bad luck, I have hhad afkers, dced players and troll in my ranked games, but the enemy team so far never had one, not once, I find it weird. why do I get them but not the enemy team?

The Tank Man1 votes

If you play a decent number of games it's unlikely you will "just have bad luck". In fact, all the afkers, dcers, and trolls should actually make it easier for you to climb rather than harder, because (assuming you yourself don't afk/dc/troll) there's a 56% chance they lose the game for the enemy team..

Velgam1 votes

Didnt I say of all ranked games I played so far ALL TROLLS and afkers/dcers have been on my team ONLY, the enemy team never had a troll, never had any players RQ/dc/afk. So how the hell does playing 4 v 5 help me?

MillForMe1 votes

That you're aware of.

That Fizz top could've been a first timer. That graves jg could've purposely ignored a lane out of spite. That Zed mid could be dealing with DC issues and lag throughout the game.

You don't know what's actually being communicated or happening on the other team. You're just assuming stuff isn't happening because it's not being communicated to you or because you aren't capable of perceiving them when they probably happen.

In the long run, it evens out or happens more of there side assuming YOU don't troll, afk, or dc.

Your statement IS similar to a young teenager saying no one understands how they feel.

Velgam1 votes

Completely wrong, see in my games I get people who dont connect/dc or RQ, if that happens to the other team it would be VERY obvious, you know, them missing another player for the rest of the game is hard to miss.

Now let's talk about trolls, in my game it's the run it down mid type, I've had 2 of those types, would be easy to see a player on the enemy team doing that now wouldn't it?

In the long run so far I have yet to see the enemy team get these types of players, they never had an afk/RQer/dced player for the rest of the game, they never had a troll who intentionally fed. They may be raging and flaming at each other but they don't let it spew into all chat like mine do

This is not hurr durr how I feel this is what has happened so far, I am still waiting to see a gam where the enemy team gets this to as you say * even things out*

MillForMe1 votes

1 step at a time. First - You're saying you have the ability to tell when an opponent is purposely AFK, RQ, or DC. While it IS more obvious as time moves on, a player can do these things for small periods of time, which go unnoticed. A player can AFK farm top, avoiding dragon and botlane's easy inhib, hurting their team. Can you explain to me how you're going to notice that such a thing is purposeful?

Second - You're saying you've got 2 of a type of troll out of 54 games. That's a pretty good experience, overall.

Third - It's not easy to notice when a player is purposely trolling or intentionally dying. Sometimes a player is bad, sometimes they are trolling. There's no CLEAR list of qualities to distiniguish the two, only extreme behaviors that make intentional trolling clear to others on the enemy team.

Fourth - We're now talking about you as a credible source. I could be wrong, but "I have yet to see" doesn't make it the absolute truth. It just means "As far as I could tell", which means you could be wrong in your interpretations.

Fifth - Everything you've described is how you interpreted it. I'm saying that you're too confident in your ability to tell what the opposing teams intentions and actions are, and need to reevaluate your viewpoint.

Given that you're only 2 wins away from a 50% winrate, which is a good winrate to climb with, you should really be the kind of player who comes in and repeats my advice, since you've been doing really well, DESPITE having the trolls, afks, and dcs only ever being on your team. You even had a 7 game win streak recently and have a 66% winrate for the past 15 ranked games.

Despite that, you came here to complain about how unlucky you were. It honestly concerns me that despite how well you're doing, you've got such a negative viewpoint and suggest that people may just be unlucky, when you yourself are statistically lucky.

Clearly things "even out" if you were able to hit Plat 4 in 50 days after being in low golds and lower for such a long time, right?

Velgam1 votes

First: yes that is noticable, if it isnt a Nasus, it's VERY noticable and usually you will get bitching in all chat asking for reports on them

Second: 2 TYPES of trolls, not 2 trolls, in my 54 games I've had 8 trolls in 7 separate games while the enemy team to this date never got 1

Third: Yes its VERY easy to notice when someone is trolling, it is BLATANTLY obvious, let's be real here

Fourth: You can go through my games to see if what i am saying checks out, very easy to see levels, cs, gold, and kda

Firth: This is not an interpretation, this is recollection of events that have transpired thus far, The enemy team so far of the 54 games played , never had to play with one player missing, I have in more than 4 cases.

I played a few games and Riot gave me a team with 40% win rates vs a team with 52% win rates each, good match making am I right?

I hate unfairness I get it way too much, you speak about the chances of these anomalies being 50/50 chance per team, yet I seem to be on the receiving end, does that add up to you? in 54 games I played over 10 were unwinnable due to trolls and a missing player yet i can also say in 54 games my enemy team has never gotten ONE, never had a teammate missing, never got the run it down mid type of troll which is VERY obvious to see. Don't you think that in 54 games which you can check for yourself the enemy team, at least once should be dealt a bad hand and not me?

MillForMe1 votes

You're only discussing obvious trolling actions. And you're assuming the same actions will be taken each time these situations pop up. So when a situation that is similar happens, but does not follow YOUR description, you disregard it's validity. That's what I'm trying to point out to you.

You're making a claim that you have no way of backing up. Unless you're trying to claim that you confirmed with all 54 opposing teams that none of those possible 270 maximum players didn't troll, while you were unfortunate enough to get all the trolls in your 216 maximum teammates.

How do their winrates decide how the game is going to go? You're going to make assumptions based off those details, so explain those assumptions to me.

You're deciding for yourself who's a troll and who's not a troll. The enemy teams you played against can very easily have a different OPINION than yours on their situations and trolls.

Your memories are your interpretations of events. Others interpret events differently.

While we're having this discussion, why don't you list all the traits that define someone as a troll in your eyes? I want to know if your list can actually point out every single type of troll.

Velgam1 votes

When i say trolling I mean going lane to lane and purposely dying, running from spawn to mid turret and dying, going around and getting killed on purpose.

You can use Op.gg and search for my name and see the matches

Winrate shows the tendency of a person winning vs losing if they have a low winrate means they are more likely to be bad and lose, if a person has over 500 games with a 41% win rate, there is a 59% chance they will lose.

MillForMe1 votes

So you're only describing intentional feeding as trolling. ONLY intentional feeding counts. You're not including afk farm, afk roamers, verbal abusers, or any other activity a person can choose to do to throw or hinder a game for others. In your eyes, only intentional feeders are trollers. The Rakan I recently had who stayed at Wraith's for 10 minutes wasn't a troll.

So you're saying that your winrate is 48% because of you and NOT because of the trolls. And if it drops lower, it's because you're bad, NOT unlucky. You already have a higher chance of losing BECAUSE you're bad. This is what you've just stated in your last sentence, simplified.

Velgam1 votes

I only acknowldge intentional feeders as trolls, afkers are not trolls, RQers are not trolls, troll are people who set out with the intent to make the game go as bad as possible, a RQer is just a tryhard, afkers are those who give up easily or have connection issues, those are not trolls, I have a few games played, these people have over 500+ games, that win rate is solidified, again 2 separate things.

MillForMe1 votes

Winrates aren't solidified, buddy. You can grow at a slower rate than everyone else, and drop in ranks because of it. You can train hard and increase your winrate and climb. An even, consistent winrate means you're where you should be.

Your definition of a troll can be applied to each situation. AFKers and RQs accomplish the same thing as feeders, they hurt the game for their own motivations. They disregard the wishes of their teammates. The end result of a ruined experience is still the same, the actions taken to get there are not.

And now you've added the number of games played into the equation. A Diamond 1 player with a 40% winrate at 600 games is now bad in your eyes. Your logic.

And after all this time, we've gotten you to admit that this is all YOUR viewpoint. Each enemy team you faced could've had players that purposely misplayed and caused their teammates to die. They could've had a top that refused to group because they hated the jg pick. They could've had jgs who refused to gank to spite their bots. All these actions are purposely hurting their teammates gaming experience for selfish reasons. But you'll acknowledge NONE of them because they don't fit your criteria. And because they don't fit your criteria, these teams were never given a "bad hand."

Velgam1 votes

Because people get fed up, people get tired, It's discouraging playing your hardest for it to be ruined, to try at something and some1 else fcks it up and then people like you say well it has a chance to happen to the enemy team as well, I agree it can happen to them but I am yet to see it.

I believe there should be a balance, hell if I got a game ONCE where the enemy team had issues like mine, that was as noticible as what I got, I'd be ok. I am not disregarding they may be flaming each other left right and center, but they never intentionally go to feed lanes, they never intentionally try to lose the game, they never intentionally alt f4 the game.

I have been dealt bad hands in life and try my hardest to succeed, I play games to get away from that, not see it there as well.

MillForMe1 votes

Well you're in for a tough wake up call.

You're playing a game with 9 other people, 4 of which you're depending on. There's always a chance they'll ruin that match for you. And it'll always suck when it happens. But you're stuck on thinking "why me?!"" when you should move on. Yeah, it sucks and it's super frustrating, but there's no point dwelling on why it may or may not happen to the other team.

The balance happens in LARGE NUMBERS. You do something enough times, the statistics start to match. You're not even done with 60 games. You're nowhere close to having accurate statistics, so there's no reason to say things aren't fair.

You can't PROVE that none of them did not INTENTIONALLY help their team lose the game. It's arrogant that you believe you can.

Yeah, League is suppose to be fun, but just like life, League has its downsides. Your job is be able to take that downside, and deal with it in a way that you can still have fun after it's over. You got trolls in 2 games after a winning streak? I'm sorry for you and I'd be mad too. Take a break, acknowledge it happens, because it'll happen to EVERYONE who plays enough, and come back when you're ready.

When you play ranked, you choose to let those downsides have an actual effect on something you're working towards. You need to learn to accept that they'll happen and do your best to MINIMIZE them, or help get rid of them with reports.

At this point, it's more about how you deal with getting a bad hand, than actually getting a bad hand. Instead of focusing on the bad, focus on yourself and what's good for you. I've been saying this from the start.

It has nothing to do with match making. People within 3 divisions are of almost equal skill level.

The problem is the meta - and how snowbally the game has become.

Like if your top laner or jungler dies once, they are pretty much bound to feed - and it becomes super hard to come back from if you're not pushing your advantage to other lanes. Like Velkoz is a champ that will never have a lot of agency when his team is super behind, because he's just way too easy to focus down.

Pretty much lanes can win SUPER hard very easily from a small snowball - and then that lane can shove their advantage down everyone else's throat. With rift and early game junglers, the games become a shit fest on who wins the first 5v5 bot lane.

Divisions .....you are aware that this refers to something like silver 3, silver 2 and silver 1 yes?

The issue is, games are far from balanced so nicely.

I´ve seen my friends, 1 silver and 1 gold enter a game and get matchmade against a team of full golds.

While being 4 silvers and 1 gold.

It was a utter stomp for the "gold" team, my friends held on for a short while but the opponents got massively fed of the other people and absolutely crushed.

And that kinda thing isn't even rare in ranked, that is why people are frustrated.

And don't even mention normals, silvers vs diamonds isn't even worth mentioning as unusual x)

But usually those who are salty about it bring a tilting attitude into their next game and end up losing because of that.

Na man. If ranked is supposed to be competitive then they should be matching equally skilled players so your teammates think similarly to you. Problem is that's not the case at all. Trust me... I been to an elo or mmr before where I thought similarly to those around me. I knew if I wanted to rank up I needed to get better but I actually felt like I had an idea what's going on around me. But when you get stuck playing with first season or first time ranked players when you have played forever it doesn't matter if you doing well or not because they will consistently be making mistakes you know better than not to do and it will throw you off your game and frustrate you. Have this happen in almost other ranked game plus throw in auto fill you get yourself madness and a poor match making system. Its the reason I no longer enjoy playing LoL.

This is very true, but matchmaking is broken regardless. If they pair people by MMR instead of rank, they should get rid of their stupid tiers and just have people listed by MMR (i.e. X to Y MMR is gold, Y to Z MMR is plat, etc.)

The current system is needlessly complex and doesn't really show what your skill level is at all, otherwise it would be impossible to have a silver player with better MMR than a gold player for instance. There is no true benefit to their system of LP and ranks and promos, in any way whatsoever.
