It's nearly impossible to kill Anivia in lane unless you get a gank

I'm taking about her passive in lane. I usually blow all my skills and ignite to kill her. Then her passive pops up and I have 5 seconds to kill.

Here the thing..... all my spells are still on cooldown and I already used ignite to kill her the first time. 5 seconds is not enough to kill her pre 6-10 by yourself.

Your jungler has to help. I think her passive should have not a duration of 5 seconds from lvl 1-18. It should gradually go down by level from 10 seconds to 5 seconds as she levels up.

I know its extreme but I should be rewarded for killing Anivia 1v1 in lane pre lvl 6-10.

Thats exactly what it is supposed to do. Egg has -resists at low levels and Anivia herself is immobile, low-ranged and squishy. And no, if you dived Anivia with her passive ready, burned flash+ignite and survived to watch as she turns to egg-you shouldn't be rewarded, you did a dumb move disrespecting enemy ability

Its supposed to remove nearly all counterplay from a late game champion thats is supposed to be punished pre 6? meh

Posui Gart3 votes

Its supposed to give a champion with 0 earlygame something to survive lanephase. And you can just kill her next time, she has something like 4-5 min cd. And dont even try to talk about "counterplay" for a champion with no range, no survivability, is countered by any hard cc, has no earlygame to the point Veigar and Ryze can win that lane pre-6 and is really mana-dependent

What does Akali have to survive lanephase? Anivia at least has range and a stun thats pretty easy to hit defensively... And technically her passive, her Q, her W and her ult give some type of "survivability" and every champ in the game is countered by hard cc, thats what hard cc is made for lol. She also abuses rod and thunderlords pretty well. But feel free to tell me a champ that can reliably beat Anivia pre 6? Because her "coutners" aka. assassins dont really work.

What does Akali have to survive lanephase?

Her Q without cost? Her W? Some spelvamp? Or the fact she can live with 0 cs before lvl6 and still have enough damage to kill someone with her doubleQ and 3 R charges?

Anivia at least has range and a stun thats pretty easy to hit defensively

That "range" is lower than any dash range, her stun can be dodged easily and if she wastes it-you can literally rightclick her and she cant do anything

every champ in the game is countered by hard cc, thats what hard cc is made for lol

First, that is incorrect. Most champions have spells to dodge CC or even have something that removes CC. And to be honest, silencing/stunning Anivia switches her ult off and puts it on cd. She also can't reactivate her Q while CCed. Show me another champion that can't do 50% of his damage for 8 seconds if he is hit by Kassadin's Q.

But feel free to tell me a champ that can reliably beat Anivia pre 6?

Anything that can push lane works (she can't lasthit under tower with her crappy AAs). Any longranged champion who can poke her safely. Someone with low cooldowns so he does not actually waste much by "killing" her first time. And someone who can dodge her E. Xerath, Chogath, Fizz, Karthus and Yasuo should be fine

In what way does Akalis Q help her survive lane? It might help her farm from range with the low projectile speed and 40 dmg at level 1, but thats it. The spell vamp does literally nothing early game either, her only real survivability is her W and pink wards are 75 gold now. But I still hate Akali and, if anything, I find her a bit too strong, so lets not argue about that lol.

The thing is, Im sure a good Anivia wont waste her Q offensively, which makes it impossible to jump onto her because her Q WILL land if she times it right (against Leblanc W for example) and if it lands, she most likely outtrades lb QW burst at level 2.

Well, Kata cant ult for more than a minute if hit by a Kassa Q while ulting.

And I think Anivia wont have many problems against melee champs, at least if she plays well. A long range poke champ might do good, but I hate playing those so I dont :s But even if they do, shouldnt counterplay exist after champ select as well?

Posui Gart3 votes

A "counterplay after champ select" is this:

  1. Bait her Q. As a Leblanc-move close to her agressively, if she uses her Q-jump a bit to the side and follow by QE, if she does not-just QE her as normal.
  2. Push her lane. She needs too much gold and she can't farm under tower. LB is a horrible pusher but most melee champions can do that easily
  3. If she has her passive and she is running with low hp-dont burn your summoner spells unless you are sure you can kill her 2nd time.
  4. Abuse her R cooldown. It starts when her ult ends, and without it she can't reliably combo anyone(unlike Kata who can deal tons of damage with her EQW alone and also has resets)

low-ranged

I'm sorry, what? I was always under the impression that Anivia had fairly high range. I'm not disagreeing with you, just wondering how Anivia of all champions is considered "low ranged."

Posui Gart2 votes

Lowranged means she gets in range of most enemy spells, including dashes. Her main damage spell is E, and it has really low range, and after her recent nerf her R break range is low too. She can't just poke from afar like Xerath or Lux , and she has no mobility like Ahri or Lissandra . She doesn't even have some guaranteed way to deal damage like Brand , Swain or Veigar . Her Q can be dodged, her R can be interrupted and without them she can't deal damage with her E. So once she comes in-she is vulnerable and has no reliable damage. It is like with Karthus, but he has 7 seconds of free reign and he can't "waste" most of his damage

your reward is that she doesn't have her passive anymore for a stupid long time which makes her easy pickings for anyone. You don't have to kill her, taking away her passive is more than enough since she is going to play A LOT more defensive or die from anything since her base stats are so terribly low

Nahui3 votes

The difference between you and Anivia is that she can have a great passive...until you proc it. Once procced, she's a 4 spell champion for about 5 minutes, or however long it is. So when you play something like Ziggs, or Talon (Lol, speaking about effective passives), or Yasuo, you've got 5 spells you're effectively working with all the time. Just proc it once and you'll see that she loses all aggression in lane.

Anivia gets negative resistances from her egg early game, and doesn't heal if she survives egg phase. So just keep beating on her while she's in egg form. Even if you don't kill her, she'll respawn at whatever HP you got her down to, AND not have her passive. Also she needs so much mana to do anything she has to stack it early, so she can't build actually useful stats when her first three items have to be Archangel's/RoA/Athene's.

When people start complaining about ANIVIA, then you know something's wrong with the boards.

I mean its anivia. This immobile mage that just got nerfed last patch (or 2 patches ago? I forget), who has a 2 skill combo unlike others with 3 or 6 skill combos. She has a super low range and her passive is the only thing that helps keep her alive in lane.

Yes you should be rewarded for killing Anivia. Both her and her egg.

She's fine as she is. She actually needs buffs not nerfs

Her passive has a pretty long CD. While it's on CD the Anivia will most likely play more safe, letting you zone her and get more CS. Or you just kill her again when your CDs are up and she doesn't have it (except ignite, your fault for blowing it when she had passive), she's pretty squishy, really slow and immobile, and only a mid-low range mage.

You realize that at early levels her passive lowers her resistances...so much at lower levels that she typically has negative resistances? And to compensate for her passive she has the lowest base HP in the game?

Her passive has a 4 minute cd. It is not her fault if you wait that long to all in her again, or decide to only fight her if all your summoners spells are up.

there are many champs that actually have the needed dps to kill the egg, and even if she survies the 5 sec, she will not heal any health, so you still have a chance of finidhing her with a second rotation unless you egged her underneath her tower. and as others have mentioned, the egg has a long cd, giving you plenty of time to actually kill her on the future. also, one should not forget that she is a close contender to lowest basehealth in game-

Xenomancers1 votes

get her with a gank then. LOL. Why would you not gank aniva?

This is part of anivia and her identity as a cryoPHOENIX.

That's what anivia does. Be unkillable while chunking people for half their health with an ER combo
