The balance team wants to buff Pantheon...

There was once a time I had little to absolutely no faith in the balance team. I could hear was Ardent Cancer. Galio's AP ratios were randomly buffed to insane amounts. Rioter literally said ADC needed to be overpowered for competitive. The word Polymorph literally had me cowering in fear (it still does btw). A time when a Rioter said they were fine with Pantheon having a "54%" winrate, they just needed to explain why. A time when the god damn patch notes of the game said Bramble Vest was so overpowered that instead of nerfing it we're buffing Fiora. While paying zero attention to other champions that were being fucked over by the item.

Times have changed since then. We finally got a bruiser keystone (after 5 months), mages no longer being locked into Morellonomicon (instead, Archangel's Staff), but Kha'zix, Xayah, Fiora, and Azir are still the top champions in their role. Times are better, but there's so much painfully obvious shit that needs to be fixed.

And yet, they want to buff Pantheon. Your first thought should be, "What the fuck." Pantheon is literally a poke to auto win laning phase top laner who already has a 53.28% winrate. Out of all the champions in the game, why would you buff the least interactive, most boring of them all? He even has an above average winrate!

You know what else can be done instead of buffing Pantheon? Conqueror's converted true damage can be changed to apply lifesteal (like Corki's passive does for it's converted Magic damage). Kha'zix could stop being the number 1 jungler after almost 3 months (52.09% banrate according to OP.gg). Fiora and Azir could stop being strong in lane if they're supposed to be strong late game carries, or stop being as strong late game to allow them to be strong in lane. You could make Aatrox a viable splitpusher by making his passive refresh against turrets. Fleet Footwork could stop being a 'crit' only keystone. Lethal Tempo could be made into less of a joke. Kai'Sa could be made less overpowered (but I do hope Riot keeps/makes her a viable pick in the jungle).

I just have genuinely no idea why Riot would buff Pantheon, one of the worst designed champions and least fun to fight against in the game.

I used to be a pantheon main. I dont play him at all now because he is literally useless. He was an oppressive lane but due to the changes to keystones making tanks tankier and minions agro on the q poke I can tell you he is garbage right now. Bruisers out all in him with the extra tankyness from resolve and conqueror damage, tanks ignore him, and he's weak to ganks. I'm not high level (plat a few seasons ago, silver 2 now) but can completely understand why they need to buff him.

If you're issue is with oppressive lanes there are other champs that are still annoying as hell (teemo, gnar, sion, yorick, azir) with almost no counterplay and more mobility so I don't see why pantheon is being singled out.

I can certainly think of some other champions I'd like to see get buffs. Pantheon is not on that list. Aatrox DrMundo Karthus Kindred Lissandra Mordekaiser Nunu Quinn MonkeyKing Viktor

I do think Riot tends to weigh 'popularity' a bit too heavy when deciding on balance changes. Meaning if something is being used or purchased too often, it's going to get nerfed.

Conversely, if something isn't popular enough, it needs a buff. Pantheon is a good case for this - He's extremely powerful in the right hands but he's not all that popular, so maybe that's why?

i agree except for nunu and quin. Fuck ranged top laners and i believe nunu is on the rework que and she was strong a few months ago and got nerfed.

Aatrox doesn't need a buff tbh. Besides, his rework should be coming up in the month and a half.

2% pick rate on a single server is a reliable source of statistic

you should do a career in science

not at all, it's extremely different with a lower pick rate

pantheon is shit right now ever since they made minions aggroing targeted spells which is good because pantheon should not allowed to be fine

if the buffs are not followed by healthier playstyle i'm going to 100% permaban him because fuck that shit is more cancerous than tryndamere

both pickrates are 2%.

well at least you didn't miss the point of the post.

I can understand that in early game but if your top laner feeds Tryndamere 3 kills and gives him a lead you'll get to see someone get 3 shot under tower

Since uh, Riot made so many champs and so many items it made it hard to keep track of ANYTHING and in every game there's ALWAYS going to be champs more popular than the other ones. I think the reason why they're buffing pantheon is because they want to seem him jungle. His kit is super easy to pick up, but takes time to master. You can tell if the player who's playing panth is autofilled or mains him. It's almost as if he's the Janna of top lane, this is because of his ult being a hit or miss in team fights whether it will win or lose his team the game.

Then i notice you mentioned that Fleet footwork should stop being a "crit only" keystone as you described in your thread, I think they should keep it that way because it's meant for short trades and to play more aggressively, much similar to the old Warlord's Bloodlust. Lethal Tempo could use some work, but it's super useful for champs like Kalista, Twitch (sometimes), and Vayne (maybe).

What we should really focus on... is horribly overloaded kits that is apparently good game design according to riot... Yasuo is PRIME example of having a horribly overloaded kit as well as Riven.

I mean I've been keeping track of league balance easily besides mid lane and supports (during laning phase). If I can keep up with 3/5ths of the game, I'm sure 10+ people can keep up with all.

The purpose of runes reforged was to open up diversity. Having Crit only is contradictive to that.

I would rather fight Yasuo than Pantheon.
