We need Nerf Master Suck Town to return

Who is Nerf Master Suck Town?

Nerf Master Suck Town is the man who says, "No, you can't have a cheap 2500 gold item that gives 80 in both resists and doubles your health." Nerf Master Suck Town is the man who says, "No, AD carries can't just kill everyone who isn't a tank in 3 auto attacks." Nerf Master Suck Town is the man who says, "No, you can't have an item that gives your entire team a 700 HP shield." Nerf Master Suck Town is the man who says, "No, you can't have an item that instantly kills the minion wave." Nerf Master Suck Town is the man who says, "No, you can't have top laners who just auto win the laning phase and give their opponent no chance to play against them." Nerf Master Suck Town is the man who says, "No, you can't have an item that gives you all your essential stats." Nerf Master Suck Town is the man who says, "No, you can't have an item that negates an entire class who is supposed to counter you." Nerf Master Suck Town is the man who says, "No, you can't just let tanks perma CC whoever gets near them."

And you know what Nerf Master Suck Town would do? Of course you do. He'd nerf it. But most importantly, Nerf Master Suck Town would say, "You cannot just let a game become this far powercreeped out of control."

But who is Nerf Master Suck Town? He is Nerf Master Suck Town. Now, though too late, do we realize that we need someone to say, "No, you cannot do that."

I'll take the threats of Irelia nerfs all over again just to get him back as the lead.

I really do need more elo, but can't get it.

Tis a dismal age we live in when NMST is no longer a name that engenders derision from the community but instead is a name the boards long for as that last glimmer of hope before all else is lost.

but in all seriousness, we do need the old morello back again. I do feel that things have really really spiraled out of control over the years as riot has constantly pushed for "shorter" game length. :/

More like nostaligia.

Morello sucked. Supports under Morello existed solely a wardbots. They'd still function as crippled wardbots if Morello was still in charge.

SpecterVonBaren26 votes

How was that Morello's fault? Have you played Dota2? That's the system League was based on and wards are what most of your gold goes into as a support in Dota.

Wards after I finish my Shiva's Guard and Scythe of Vyse :^)

Sewer Side2 votes

That's also because supports don't scale and have godlike early games that fall off after BKBs and tankiness scales.

No point buying items beyond GGs, sheepstick (if you can afford it as your one and only item) or Glimmer.

Morello was content crippling support's kits without introducing any ways to generate gold or be relevant beyond using ambient gold to provide vision. No one likes that and even years after supports having viable gold income to even play as a secondary mage, people still hate being the support.

Also, dota is a different game with different balancing philosophies. Stop comparing.

The majority of League is Bronze/Silver/Gold, therefor the majority of League will never like being support. I really don’t think it matters what kind of changes they introduce.

People in these leagues like to win, but even more, they like to carry with a “sick” KD/A. I say “/a” because not many pay attention to assists til you get closer to gold.

So long as silver and the leagues around it are a fiesta revolving around who has the best KD/A and who can toot their own horn when they’ve farmed like a Plat 5, support will never be popular.

People get auto filled and their first thought is “I hate this role”, but their first subconscious thought is “Fuck not everyone may notice how fucking awesome I am at call of duty”. Or even worse, “What if nobody believes me when I blame my ADC for the lost lane? At least in other roles I can go even and blame my team or lose lane and catch up somehow, then blame my team anyways because they won’t notice the chain of events I set in place.”

Of course there are the minority who just enjoy support and don’t care, but they are far and few in between. The majority of people in the lower Elo just want to carry, and even more, they want everyone to know they fuckin carried hard.

iamthegoatofwar2 votes

Personally I hate the role due to the babysitting nature of it...

Once you actually play support and pick a support playstyle that suits you then you will find it tons of fun. I really enjoy hypercarry style thresh, messing with the enemy jungler when they do their first buff, and rushing mobility boots to roam a lot.

Hinagiku332 votes

Sadly, this isn't true. Not everyone will find support fun just by the nature of it.

I actually do like support when I get a play-maker support like Blitzcrank that makes me feel like I'm actually doing something useful. But there will always be games where my teammates are getting rocked and there's nothing I can do to help turn it around because I have no damage. Playing a damage dealer will just always be more appealing for some players since it offers them more agency over the things that actually matter - killing the other team dead and damaging their towers.

Salson2 votes

And until recently they were buff bots.

Going from bad to bad isn't much of an improvement.

Sewer Side4 votes

For 4 patches, you mean.

Let's just ignore the other 3 seasons since gold gen items were introduced isn't going to stand as an argument

Salson12 votes

item 3504 item 3107 item 3190 item 3109

A buff based itemization sucks ass.

If you wants a healthy support design, look at Blic, Thresh and Bard. Make items that support that kind of supporting, or leave them in the gutter where buff based itemization belongs.

Sewer Side5 votes

That what a support does though.

Supports the team through items and kits.

Like I mentioned, there is enough viable income to go bot as a secondary mage if you don't want to be a buff bitch, but what do you think a support does lmao?

It's one thing where I thought you were talking about the uninteractive Ardent meta, which holds some water beyond your span of time being exaggerated, but complaining about using items to SUPPORT your team is just a mind fuck.

Comparing being a cripple ward bitch like in S1-3 (until the 3 gen items and "utility scaling" was introduced in 3.14) to S7 is only telling me either you didn't support back then or you didn't play LoL at all back then.

Salson5 votes

what do you think a support does lmao?

In a perfect world Playmaking. Supports do not have to do a lot of damage or shield a lot, and this leaves an enormous power budget that can be used to create the best playmakers in the game.

As I said think Thresh and Bard. Rakan also looks awesome. Give them items to go through walls, hell give them an item that copies teleport so they can roam the whole map. But don't give them itemization that glues them to someone like a hip-joined twin.

It's one thing where I thought you were talking about the uninteractive Ardent meta

I do consider Enchanter playstyle outdated and uninteractive as a whole.

For instance I love toplane. But that does not mean I consider dumb champs like Tryn and Garen good and healthy.

Yes, Supports needed buffs and I'm glad they got them, buff they buffed the wrong ones. The meta should be based on high-skillcap playmaking supports, not effortless healing.

I'd rather have crippled wardbots than point-and-click wonders that autowin the game.

"The enemy of art is the absence of limitations." - Orson Welles

When you remove the shackles from creativity, you also set free the chaos within. That was Riot's mistake: move without thinking in the long term consequences. Now we have to deal with BS flying everywhere (1k shields, Draktharr busted damage, Huge ass crits, mobility creep, paper turrets, Seju, etc).

Pffff just make CertainTy the new lead. The game will be in utter chaos but it'll be fun utter chaos.

I'm joking of course. But really I think Certainty's champions are fun, even if some of them edge on being a little annoying. He also has some of the most interesting ideas amongst the team. Like how his form of vision is interesting and always has some counterplay to it.

"Nerf Master Suck Town is the man who says, "No, you can't have an item that gives you all your essential stats."

-So he hates Trinity Force since it was implemented? The only thigns it does not give are armor, mr, ap and crit. Still with the bunch of stats it gives... Ezreal for examle is happy.

LordGeovanni4 votes

it used to give crit and ap. and Ezreal was its best user.

this man we need nerf master suck town

LordGeovanni3 votes

no you cant have 30% critical strike on one item when you still have alot of other strong stats on it. No your top ap item cant have 20% cdr and mana sustain on it all together.

zero3562 votes

This especially applies, I think, to CertainlyT It's not that's he bad or his ideas aren't fun and interesting, he just doesn't really have anyone holding him back and preventing him from taking his ideas way too far.

And, speaking of Nerf Master Suck Town, it's ironic, isn't? "No, you can't have an item that gives you all your essential stats." And yet that is exactly his namesake item

Incidentally, The item was named after him largely because of his known distaste for healing. It wasn't always the giant stat stick it is now.

the designer that the "Morello's Evil Codex" (aka Morellonomicon) was named after. He had a meme around him of always nerfing Irelia and a dislike for healing supports.

but in reality, he was a solid designer that did a good job at trying to keep things balanced in league's infancy

IIRC he was moved to a more manager-y position and Meddler took over his old job.

Thryale3 votes

that's too bad. :/ what a waste of his talents.

EDIT: that's not to say anything ill of meddler. He's done a great job, but I feel that atm we really need morello's firm hand to reign things in again, atm
