I feel like the meta shifts force people to stop playing certain champions.

I played a lot of lb. She got nerfed heavily and lost a lot of her carry-meta potential. So you move on to someone who did something similar, like kat. Then kat got nerfed which wasnt too heavy but made her laning kinda annoying. So then i went to ahri. My point is why does it feel like when certain champions get "strong" they get taken out of the meta and you feel "forced" to pick someone capable of carrying

Or you could just play that champion you enjoy, and not care whether they are meta. If you want to play different champions, shifting with the meta, be my guest. However, you are never forced to.

I mean in the sense of if you want to win, and if you have any impact at all.

If your good at the game you'll win. Playing something because its OP, and then being surprised when its nerfed, and you suddenly can't win as easily, is a sign you aren't playing well. On that subject, here's a quote from that one ex-semi pro: https://youtu.be/l2LT8sNCl84?t=2m1s

Well of course, if you play the meta your picks will be outlined for you. I also play mid and find success on non meta Champs but it's harder. Also depends on elo, non meta Champs do fine through Plat but by then everyone is a meta follower or a otp, so it seems like you only see meta champs.

That's how meta shifts work:

they are not supposed to make you change from "assassin A" to "assassin B" they are supposed to make you change from "assassin" to "not assassin".

I.E. the nerf is not on the specific champion, it is on your play style as a whole.
