Is it a shard that needs Orange Essence to upgrade?
I guess it doesn't matter to me all that much, in the past couple hundred masterwork chests I've literally been getting nothing but orange essences and not a single actual shard so I have more than double the requirement for legendary skin anyway [slayer-jinx-unamused]
I think it'll be an actual skin, as the skin shard reward specifies "shard", the legendary gift doesn't.

Wait really? I don't have nearly enough OE to upgrade all the skin shards. Usually get 2-3 per month + all those from events... I don't get how you can have too much OE, unless you are passing on upgrading skins.
I wish I could finally get the Pulsefire Caitlyn that I want so much. But it is so unlikely that I will get this specific legendary skin in the gift. ;__;
Considering the support page explaining the rewards doesn't state it's a shard, while at the same time referring to the day 6 gift [from the orb] as "4 skin shards", it'll probably be a skin permanent.
