PSA : support is a role just like every other

And just like every role, sometimes the itemization is over the top and it is nerfed, it has already happened with every role.

So stop thinking that support items should be immune to nerfs because they are SUPPORT items, this is ridiculous thinking, "but supports are finally very strong", they havent been weak been a couple of years, and no they do not need 6 different overpowered items to function or be impactful.

Besides, do you like that your items are basically stronger than your kits? Do you feel satisfied to win a fight because you pressed 3 actives instead of using your kit properly?

I build 1 support item item 2301 and I do fine. Probably won't work in Plat/Dia though, but who knows? Hint: not me, apparently. [slayer-jinx-wink] Honestly, I don't feel lacking on Lux with only 1 support item vs when I play Morgana with several. I don't feel like support items are oppressive or "must-have" items for a full team's build. And I have about a 65-ish percent win rate on Lux as support lately. Take note, however, that if you care to look up my win rates, my Lux win rates will be low (about 53-55%) recently because I tried moving to mid (people said I should either build full support or go mid, but screw that, I'm gonna play what I find fun and what I'm good at), and overall because I only started playing her much this season.

I guess the main complaints are that full support champions (Bard Blitzcrank Janna Leona Lulu Nami Rakan Sona Soraka TahmKench Taric Thresh ) are just pretty much required to build the items labeled "support items"? I tend to play carry-supports so I haven't run into that, but if support item nerfs are needed, then most supports themselves would need buffs, IMO.

Don't get me started. It almost makes me yearn for the days when supports were just expected to buy wards and Aegis, for the passive aura. (Okay, no it doesn't; that's an exaggeration.) I appreciate that the current setup is one solution to the "support problem". Support items are powerful enough to make support champs impactful on a budget but not powerful enough for full-income laners to buy them. It's not a solution that I like but I don't have a better one. Once upon a time, I seem to recall that they talked about adding a third scaling factor to some champs so you'd basically have AD, AP, and Utility Power (UP). For example, Janna's shield might scale modestly with AP but very well with UP and Zephyr could have its damage scale with AP but its slow % or duration scale with UP. I don't know if that's a good idea but at this point I'd be willing to give it a try. I want my supports to be defined by their kits, not by cookie cutter itemization -- and not just because they have irrelevant ability scaling.
