Too much utility and outplay potential

It's actually kinda funny. Apparently, (according to an older player who was around for Ahri's entirety,) Ahri was reworked from a Mage to an Assassin because Mage Ahri was too good on top of having Assassin like qualities granted by DFG.

EDIT: Found it, patch 3.13. Base damages lowered, Charm amplifier added.

To be exact, mage Ahri was not too good. Mage Ahri was decent, but overshadowed by the stronger mages at the time, in particular Orianna and pre-rework Gragas. However, by building DFG, her damage as a mage reached overkill potential and she gained assassin qualities through only W, R, and DFG.

Normally, this was not bad, but during season 3, supports had trouble being tanky due to the need to sink massive amounts of gold into wards (there were no such thing as trinkets back then). The major problem was that Ahri had the potential to kill specifically these squishy supports through only W, R, and DFG.

They then reworked Ahri into a more assassin based champion becuase of their initial refusal to remove DFG, which ironically the majority of the community were calling for at the time.

Winrates alone are a terrible marker for balance.

But when a champion has a massive pick AND winrate (see: Jman and Leona) then there's probably something wrong.

It's still not good whether a buff or nerf. She didn't need any compensation... Now her win rate is too high assuming 50% is what everyone wants.

She is supposed to be difficult to play, so her winrate probably needs to be below 50%

Winrates are a horrible way of showing balance.

But I think that new ahri is way better than old ahri.

I think a mage/assassin hybrid is fundamentally flawed in the current state of the game.

Yes, but every champion with a winrate above 54% at every elo regardless of skill level is honestly OP.

No such champion exists, as far as I can tell.

I'm impressed by how useful the Ahri Q buff is. It surprised me. I definitely think she's stronger than she was before.

The problem is that when people QQ about their preferred champ being damaged by an itemization change, they forget that those itemization changes hit not only their own champ, but all the different champs that usually builded that item, and impact them in a different way Veigar is damaged by DFG removal, but he is less damaged than aP assassins since he can still stack enough AP to shot fast people while other champs that built DFG can't, so that at the end, while he was overalll nerfed by these changes, he ends up being in a better spot at the end in comparison with his counterparts that rivals him in mid lane The same is for Ahri, which had a fall-back kite mage pattern that got boosted, and while being strongly damaged in her capablity to assassinate people, got still a pretty effective alternate pattern (that got even buffed, thing to not forget), and so come out at the end better in the comparison with her counterparts
