Only reason I Hate Bard.

You didn't make him Role versatile. He can't be played as anything other than a support! Whats up with this?

Hes such a fun champion with awesome abilities; but i cannot play him in any other lane (without being a troll or feeding)

We are lacking in dedicated Supports.

Phife1 votes

No actually we are definitely not lacking in dedicated supports.

Annie Bard Blitzcrank Braum Janna Karma Leona Lulu Nami Morgana Nunu Sona Soraka Taric Zilean Thresh

are all and have been 100% COMPLETE SUPPORTS.

Do not forget all the other supports you can play that aren't "DEDICATED" to the support ONLY rule. Such as:Ahri Anivia Annie Brand DrMundo Elise Fiddlesticks Galio Gragas JarvanIV Kayle Leblanc LeeSin Malphite Lux Nidalee Poppy Rengar Shen Sion Teemo Veigar Velkoz MonkeyKing Zyra

Annie is a mid as often as she's a support, Lulu used to mid, Morg and Blitz work really well top, Nunu's a jungler, not a support....

Phife1 votes

Call them what you want, but annie is an amazing support. Lulu was designed to be a support and they broke most of the supports with ap scaling to their buffs. and Morg and blitz work top???? JUST BECAUSE THEY WORK TOP DOESN'T MAKE MY STATEMENT ANY LESS SOLID... my god.

Nunu is a really good jungler but he DESTROYS kalista.... absolutely horrifying what he can do to her with his E....

These two statements are incompatible. Quite a few of the champions you mentioned aren't dedicated supports. Lulu, Annie, Karma, Morg, Nunu, and Zilean have all seen play in lanes besides support. Just because these champions work as supports doesn't mean they are only supports.

Bard has unique and interesting abilities. Two of them wouldn't work well with damage purchases. He also needs to roam a lot, which makes having him as a laner a bad idea. That's fine. It's a unique design that hasn't been done before. Screwing around with a good thing to try and force role diversity isn't necessary.

what annie always was mid till recently (well some played her support in s2 but few), same for morgana, both still are played mid often (morg has a better winrate at mid too than as a support)

Sailor Mint1 votes

Annie has been played as support since late Season 3.

Her mid lane viability has been largely unaffected.

Phife1 votes

Putting winrates aside, they're more effective as supports than they are as mid laners because they have ridiculous amounts of CC and damage together.

Deep Terror Nami1 votes

You listed several that go mid top or jungle. Take those out and compare the rest to any other role, and they pale in comparison.

Phife1 votes

who annie? Cause she definately shines brighter as a support with her on targeted stun and aoe nukes.

Deep Terror Nami1 votes

It's more than just Annie. And I stated dedicated supports. Editing your reply doesn't change anything.

Bard Blitzcrank Braum Janna Leona Lulu Nami Sona Soraka Taric Thresh Zilean

^ Actually those are all of the dedicated supports. This is evidenced by the fact that A) Their kits scream utility over damage B) Whenever most of these champs see play in other roles, Riot is very quick to nerf them because they can be cancerous (See: Old Soraka, Lulu, Janna).

i dont think you know what "dedicated" means.

dude they made frigging soraka not role versatile, completely ruining her mid, top and jungle with the rework and you complain about bard they directly said they don't want versatile champs (read the thread with answers about bard) because they are toxic and antifun

Phife1 votes

Lmao, Thats not because versitile champs are OP, its because they added stat scaling with ap to champions who didn't need it.

well, i haven't said 'op' i'm serious also, one rioter directly said (being asked why they don't make versatile champs like cho'gath) that their current designing conception it's to make champs exactly for existing meta roles, i'm too lazy to find the quote, but you can easily do it yourself

Not quite. Versatile champs aren't OP at all, but they don't have confidence in being able to balance champions for different roles that require different things. With Soraka it was just almost impossible for her to be a good support without being a ridiculous mid, and also one that's difficult to play against. You see a similar thing with Lulu/Zyra - Riot admitted themselves that they left Zyra's mid lane underpowered because she'd be too good as support otherwise.

By making sure a champion is dedicated to one role in particular you can avoid stuff like neutering them due to being too good in a lane they're not meant for.

Phife1 votes

Before soraka's rework they didn't touch her, balance team could have increased the ratio on AP : mana on her E and lowered the damage / silence on enemy champs, They could have increased healing base and lowered scaling... But what ever man, you're just buying into the conspiracy that Riot thinks they know what they're doing.

Every other patch something goes wrong and they dedicate another patch to fixing what they did before, and now they even have patch run downs just to explain and vocalize that they fucked up.

they took away her ability to give mana to herself though way pre rework -_-

Phife1 votes

im talking about her ability to give to other champs.

Sukishoo1 votes

Soraka was not meant to Jungle... she has no clear. Mid and Top are still quite great if you know how to use her.

she cleared well in the old jungles her real problem was that she couldn't really gank and worked as a moving ambulance

Sukishoo2 votes

Maybe with her old starcall but even if that was still here the Jungle is way too strong for it now, and yeah she has little to no ganking potential. I played a Jungle Sona the other day and she can do more then Soraka ever could.

well, we were talking about pre-rework soraka

Supports aren't supposed to do anything but support sadly... just ask Lulu and Soraka what riot does to supports that break the meta. I think you can kind of jungle with him, but not well.

Deep Terror Nami1 votes

I think Mid/Top Lulu is more popular than Support Lulu atm, sadly.

Raxicor1 votes

More like ask Alistar what happens to supports that break the meta. Jungle Alistar R.I.P. lol

Sarutobi1 votes

how exactly does playing him in other lanes make you troll and feed? i really dont see why he needs to have another role. we have more than enough of the other roles especially Jungle. we need more support champs and he does it well! sorry you need to play this champ in a different role other than his indented role!

ladention1 votes

He actually can jungle. Also, can kalista do anything but duo lane adc?

Phife1 votes

ive seen kalista top alot actually... in ranked plat / dia

His other role is called "Griefer". Just wait until your teammates do baron and then ult them all and watch as the enemies surround you and nukes you with all their ults at once. Yes, this happened.

DJ Di01 votes

Technically you can Jungle AD Bard, but I wouldn't recommend it; the sustain is nice but your clear is slower than a zombie snail.

Phife1 votes

Techincally i can jungle zilean with AS / crit but we don't do that because we technically dont like losing.

Sailor Mint1 votes

You can't make supports (and junglers) strong without giving them drawbacks when it comes to solo laning.

Phife1 votes

So whats makes rek sai top weaker than his jungle?

Sailor Mint1 votes

What does she even do in a solo lane?

Her entire kit is centered around global mobility and flanking.

Phife1 votes

If you take TP, you have as much mobility as any other top laner to tp into a gank, And you can use your ult to get back to lane.

Her passive / W lets you regen 200 hp at lvl 6~ in lane when you get rage... you full clear waves with 3 autos and your E does 600 true damage.

Borkahn1 votes

Honestly, I love him in the bot lane. My adcs so far know I have to roam. I leave them health packs at the turret and make quick trips. I can keep up in experience because of the utility tree. Also the utility tree keeps me moving fast. So, I'm enjoying him.

Phife1 votes

Oh, i never said i dont LOVE playing bard... hes awesome and a great fun champ to play. But the only thing i regret was him not being able to be played in any other role.

Phife1 votes

Is it optimal having only 1 damage ability and 1 auto attack refiner?

Raxicor1 votes

Its interesting that he's not role versatile since he's a versatile support overall.

Arcade Andrew1 votes

what more pissed me off is how he has to roam the entire map and everytime i left lane my adc went "wtf bard /all report bard not in lane"

Stars Shaper1 votes

My experience with Bard so far:

  • Ppl getting crazy when I go get chimes that are slight off of the lane.
  • ADCs refusing to: poke, avoid poke, getting health packs. They just farm waiting for me to magically bring the other 2 down and stunned while spamming heals under their feet and still having mana.
  • Team refusing to wait for my presence to do any sort of teamfight.
  • Team spreading up as soon as I am in their range
  • Only enemies taking my portals...

So far what makes Bard unenjoyable is its dependance on Team which means that only 1 guy can screw your game experience.
