Yeh, this is how I feel constantly. I want to make it to Gold because I have only been playing about 9 months, and people told me getting to Gold was insanely hard for my first season with no MOBA experience; but I consistently get trolls or people who want to try new stuff they saw in the LCS or on Stream. I've seen multiple Varus mid who do nothing but feed because, holy shit, they've played the champ ONCE EVER. I just feel like people in Ranked pick champs based on what they THINK will work, but when you have played a champ once or twice ever, it's not a "counter-pick", it's a troll pick. I've made posts about this before, saying how people need to quit thinking a counter-pick will win them the game based on what the pro's play. I'd take you on a champ you're actually good with over a pure counter-pick you don't know how to play.
I main a position, and when I say I main something, that means you can play multiple champs with different utility fluently and benefit your team. And aside from that, you understand what your role is when it comes to everything from laning to farming to team fights. When somebody tells me they main a role, then have absurdly low win rates and KDA's, it's hard to believe that they truly main anything. Playing a position you want to and actually being good at that position are completely different things. I played countless normals before taking ranked on because I didn't want to be a burden to my team, and then I finally got up to par with my champs and go into ranked expecting the same thing only to find people going 1/16. I carried myself out of Bronze, but Silver is just as bad, if not worse, than Bronze was. I've gone up and down from Silver V to IV since getting into Silver. It's frustrating, and I also have been thinking about not playing ranked anymore because of how poor the community truly is in ranked.
I had a game last night where I went like 12/0/11, and at about 10 minutes, top was losing by 2 kills and mid had died once. Bot lane was neutral still, their farm was pretty consistent, so I decided to try and balance the top and mid lanes out. Go top and give the kill to my top laner, then gank mid and get him a kill, then go back top and get myself a kill. At this point, the ADC had just died for the first time and proceeded to say, "Fucking shit jungler, no ganks and now I am losing, gg." To me, I think most people THINK they know how to play positions, but can hardly play the role they think they're good with. On the surface, League is a basic game, but there is so much underlying information that is existing that many people just don't know or understand. If I let my top laner alone and focus on the person whining, my top laner, who was already behind to start, continues to fall behind. Then we have a mid laner who is trying to redeem his death and continues dying. Then we have 2 lanes that are super fed because YOU wanted me to constantly gank since you clearly weren't good enough to hold the lane. As a jungler, it's not my entire focus to just steamroll and get assloads of kills, because that does nothing for the TEAM if I die. In a game that is 5v5, you need to assist the people who need it and exploit the errors made by the other team. Most of my kills came from poor position on their part (The enemy jungler continually trying to invade), and them pushing too far into the turrets. It's just insanely annoying when in a lane that was never ganked, as soon as they die from playing poorly, it's ANYBODY elses fault but their own.
TL;DR: Honestly, most people just don't understand that game enough. And coming from somebody who has only been around 9 months, I watched many videos and tried learning how to play the role I enjoy most, better. Failure in ranked comes down to terrible itemization, lack of skill and WHINING because somebody is better than you. I'm not claiming I am amazing or deserve Diamond, but I certainly understand my position a lot better than many people I play with.
