Bard is the best designed champion in this game.

Eyesack··43 votes·3,232 views

Obviously the title is my opinion, but having played league for 6 years i think bard is the most on-point champion to be released.

Bard is a champion that has really strong high points and overall utility, unique playstyle, and clear weaknesses. It is very rewarding to learn the champion but at the same time he isn't frustrating to play against if you're playing against someone with a lot of experience on him.

Kudos to whoever made this champ honestly.

what about Yasuo?

he is the definition of a well designed and balanced champion and makes even fun to play against.

he has this innovative and great mechanics that aren't even a tiny bit frustrating.

all in one we need more champions like him, i mean who doesn't like to play against a 0.1 sec cd dash and a wall that can negate your half combo + Ult.

oh, and his free shield is also totally needed and balanced.

Made me lol

Actually, I play a bit of yasuo, as my match hstory can show you. He , while nice in theory, is laughably weak right now. His base damages are pathetic, even for "ranged" and "Squishy" champions like annie and lux. 20 damage Q says hello. And if it scales with ad and attack speed, it doesn't even matter cuz E AP LOL Actually yasuo needs major buffs.

TheHappyReaperz5 votes

Why does your Q do 20 damage? I'm not even sure that's physically possible, with Yasuo's base AD being what it is

Revert Talon8 votes

I think he is referring to its base damage at level one, which is 20 although it has a 100% ad scaling so it always does more that 20 damage

Ralanr4 votes

You shouldn't max your Q first anyway.

Shadòw3 votes

only that his q has Base AD and not Bonus AD scaling.

Again Yasuo mains trying to cover up how broken the champ is.

CarmellaFromNY1 votes

His Q has 20 base damage. make it 100/200/300/400/500 to be more in line with other champions nukes.

Shadòw8 votes

you don't know what you are talking about obviously

don't you get it?

on top of that 20 there is 100% of your AD

CarmellaFromNY1 votes

LOL how you sound kid? Yes, the base damage is 20, it scales with ad. Trists ult is 300, and scales with 100% ap. How you obviously sound, child? ;) Go play yas ;)

Shadòw4 votes

now i don't know if you're just trolling or actually an idiot.

for the second case:

You know BASE AD?

You know.. the AD every champion has from the beginning without building or needing anything? This doesn't exist for AP.

And THIS Value is influencing your Q Damage too. NOT only your Bonus AD from Items/Runes/whatever but ALSO your BASE AD Value.

Yasuo has ~60 AD on lvl 3.

20+60 = 80 base Damage which is like the base damage of an average lvl 1 ability.

Apart of that, almost no other Ability in the Game can crit. Also it's on a ~2 sec cd with AS.

CarmellaFromNY1 votes

Wow, you're actually stupid. Ap champs don't have ad? ~ 60 ~ 2 because you don't know the numbers? Go eat your tendies child.

Shadòw5 votes

ok i fail to beleive that you are not trolling

CarmellaFromNY1 votes

Perhaps you always assume people are trolling, bullying and otherwise dominating you.

Guessing a troll...

Weeb Guardian3 votes

I will try to explain this to u as u insist u're not a troll

Yasuo is an ad champion, and his q starts with 20 base dmg, but for every point of ad u get his q dmg increases by one, he has 66 base ad so u start with at least 86 q dmg, that is if u don't have ad runes

When u have 100 ad at lvl 1 (which is impossible, but let's act like it is possible), his q would deal 120 dmg at rank 1 (100 ad + 20 base)

Ap scaling spells start with higher dmg as not a single champ in league starts with an ap value (maybe galio, idk if his passive works with base mr, if it does he starts with ap)

In order to keep up with ad champions the ap champions need a higher base value, as a 20 base dmg spell with 0 ap would be a tickle

U get the general idea?

bro I've played over 400 games as Yasuo and I can even say he's really good right now

if you think he's "laughably weak" then you just aren't playing him right in the slightest

but what I find incredibly funny is that you're saying he's pathetic and yet when I look at your op.gg you're going 22/2, 25/0, 29/2 (to name a few), which can lead me to believe that you're smurfing. against level 18's you should be absolutely stomping them, and you are, however if you're saying he's laughably weak after going 29/2 in a 30-minute game I really can't decide if you're trolling us or not.

CarmellaFromNY1 votes

A bro named Carmella? Yes, he is laughably weak. Right now, I am 35 w - 0 L with Yasuo in pvp games. I have been playing league (except for my first game or two) for just a few days now. I think I am starting to get a feel for Yasuo because I play him more often than anything else, and I also always go mid lane, so I get used to doing the same sorts of things, in the same place every game. Yes, I am overcompensating for Yasuo's garbage moves, garbage range and garbage tools by being very decisive, very alpha and very intelligent. That doesn't change the fact that even I, from my newbie perspective, can see that every champion I have encountered has the tools to defeat and roll me or even a better yasuo if they did not shit the bed per se, without fail. Yasuo deserves to be pumped full of some very hot, potent buffs that he may be genuinely virile and competitive. Right now, he is utterly flaccid. Something that cannot win a game, but must rely on beta males LOSING THEIR GAME , not being able to answer his pathetic excuse for "things"

ƒoes1 votes

He's not even bad right now though.

In mid, he has a 50.19% win rate, as opposed to his 51.36% win rate in top lane. I mean, sure, he isn't what he was a few patches ago (56% win rate), but he's definitely not bad. Giving him buffs would probably put him in an even more unbalanced state and his win rate, ban rate, and play rate would shoot up. He's in a good spot right now and isn't in need of nerfs or buffs.

"Mobility Creep?" Nah, no one here thinks he's a creep

"Elimination of what was once rng?" Just don't play ARAM, silly

"A bullshit wall?" It's pretty clear that the wall is made of wind

I agree he is fantastic, but nothing will be as perfect as Orianna, she is the definition of a good champion design and dont forget that she was released like 6 years ago.

I agree I think he is fantastically designed

Handin Out Naps3 votes

He is really annoying to play against lmao.

Meep Man3 votes

Who isn't seen as annoying to play against these days besides like... 10 champions?

GULAG 4 U1 votes

Yeah, people need to stop suggesting to rework/nerf "annoying champions". Most champions are annoying in some regard and it is something subjective.

Divewing1 votes

sometimes things get obscured. There is a fine line between annoying, and toxic

My only quarrel with Bard is that the 2nd unit / wall detection hitbox is FAR too wide. It really needs to function more like Poppy stun / condemn.

I don't usually find myself wondering how Heroic Charge and Condemn twisted 45 degrees to the left to stun me against the wall.

its not really that wide its just that it goes a set amount but the enemy can keep moving until it hits ts 2nd target and the enemy still gets stunned just wherever they went, but the animation i think still shows the 1st part of q on top of the enemy

^ This is the way new champions should be designed when they have a high skill cap. Bard is a champion that takes time to learn and when you do master him you aren't obnoxiously overbearing on the entire game. He's my favorite support and the reason I gave the role another look.

See I have been playing since Beta and couldn't disagree more.

Bard is situational and often provides the least amount of damage of all support champions.

Situational you say.... yes situational, because even the best Bards use their ult resulting in a bad outcome. And if there is even 1:10 times you Gold incorrect in what very much seems like a clunky ult you just screwed your team.

You see the problem? Potential to ruin the team encounter and the least amount of damage of the support champions.

Karma is a much better pick. Why? High damage potential and AoE/mobility shielding. Even single target shields offer that much more.

Now we could go down the avenues that... Bard has a heal and a magical journey... but his heals are low and misplaced journey causes death more than escapes. (You never hear about a misplaced shielding/movement causing death.)

When facing a team fight I much rather have a burst of speed/mobility and a shielding on all team members than a gold that doesn't last nearly long enough, misses or worse loses us the team fight.

Lastly the champion reminds me of the male version of Lux when she came out. Very unappealing and badly modeled.

Bard is an extremely fun champion to play with or against. So I agree with your sentiment.

not really, the w just still doesn´t really fit in with his kit - sure, it´s nice to have, but you really wouldn´t mind trading it for sth else.

ShadowParker4 votes

I think it fits with the whole roaming support idea. I personally couldn't see anyone else having it without having their kit built around it.

realDRdeal2 votes

I play a lot of bard (he's my champ with most mastery points and would be seven if i had more blue essence) and I just had a thought. What if rather than a time ramp up on his heal, it was based off the distance bard was from the shrine (and thus the distance he was from the one being supported)? Obviously it would have to be capped and the numbers would have to change but that might fit the roaming support thing a little better.

BakedLotion1 votes

Yeah I've honestly never been annoyed when going against him. His kit isnt completely infuriating to play against like 85% of the champs nowadays.

Going to have to disagree with you...

There are stuff which seem like a missed oportunity with bard which bother me a bit

  1. Imagine if his Q hits an enemy and then a wall which has journey there and it forces an enemy to take the magical journey (Has to be aimed at entrance). This seems like a missed oportunity I wish he had that cool move

It would be cool Q > E combo he could use from time to time

  1. Imagine if he could use Q while being in journey and that way he could stun people while traveling. Not to mention it would be cool if you could stop the enemy while they are like half way in magical journey with q

Note this already happends. Champions who have larger models sometimes fall on different parts of journey rather then on end. Now imagine if bard could force it with his Q

I wish he had this features in favor of him losing some dmg. Supports are there for utility yet I RECALL multiple times one shoting With AA>Q>AA
