Why don't people play Syndra?

Boomerangbro··2 votes·1,803 views

I feel as though I'm the only one that plays her. With burst mages coming back into the scene, I feel like I'm the only Syndra player actually having a good time in today's meta. She has burst, utility, and is one of the best team fight mages in the game.

Just the other game, I was playing Syndra and a fight broke out by dragon. Two of my teammates went down leaving only me and our jungler. I was able to get a dark sphere off on the first enemy and then Scatter the Weak stunning 4 people! I followed up with Unleashed Power onto their adc to kill them and them Force of will onto the other three, slowing them and allowing me to get away, while our assassin cleaned up.

She is just so powerful. She has a really big learning curve, but I feel that I should be seeing more of her lately. Why is she not being played?

Edit: Also, with Annie being so powerful right now, why isn't Syndra a pick against her. She can support as well. I find her to be a counter, because if Annie drops the bear onto your adc, you can just pick it up and throw it under your turret, peeling for your adc.

its because riot nerfed her to the ground

How so? I can almost always get first blood. I can also delete the enemy carry with my ult at lvl 6. She doesn't feel weak.

Not when I play Shaco. :)

her early q is almost the same damage as her auto attacks lol

Mobility. It's all about roaming mid lanes and escaping ganks. She can't really move fast

LOL...if mobility is your only reason for not playing her you need to buy boots more often.

I began the game by playing syndra, she is my first main and I started playing her as my first main because of this exact reason. I found that many people didn't play her, and assumed that that meant that they didn't know how to play against her either. and that is so true...when yas first came out....I would win EVERY game against him...hes supposed to be a syn counter.

I feel as though many peopel don't play her because well...why would you play an op champ that is hard to play over one that is easy to play, like ekko or lux mid. even cassio is easier then syndra.

So..i feel like people dont play her beecause she is too hard and why waste the effort? but the thing is, is that she is very strong (i garuntee myself first blood by lvl 3 with her...every game.) and that if you know how to play her shes unstoppable, unless you're dealing with a talon or an assasin of sorts but...why need mobility when shes basically a glass cannon.

if you're being chased use your q'e comb o (which is impossible to miss if you're being chased) and you can easily turn that entire fight around with 1 q and an ult....BOOM their adc is gone and say maybe their sup was chasing you too....there's your double kill.

with syndra you must learn to let the enemys roam to you, and to kite as much as possible....playing bait is my FAVORITE role as syndra...3 q's and the adc is dead...literally 3 abilities and shes gone. easy peasy. just gotta really nkow how to out play and not get caught.

its hard to roam with syndra because shes not an assassin mage like ekko, talon, akali, ahri...the list goes on. BUT....i can beat all of em except maybe a talon with my syndra...and its pretty easy now that I've got her down (2 yrs expierience.) so....let em raom...while their roaming ill farm my next needlessky. ol

The problem with syndra is almost every other mage outperforms her. If you think her playstyle is fun and challenging then sure have at it but atm i dont see a reason anyone should play her.

She has a higher skill cap than most mages, she has had several nerfs over the past year ( biggest one was the decreased width of her w) and she falls off late game once people build MR.

You can bully enemy jungler early if you play Syndra XD Steal enemy blue/red, since most junglers use smite on gromp/krugs.

She has enough utility to make up for her being immobile though. A potential 5 man stun, slows, knockbacks and the ability to manipulate player created pets.

I do agree her early is kinda bad, but once you hit lvl4 you can start poking down the enemy.

Then there is mana issues early, her mana cost don't justify her damage, espeically on Q which does almost as much damage as an auto. She is overall weak in all categories unless super far ahead, high mana cost, immobile, a nuke that is nullified by banshees/ga, squishy. :P Buffing her Q and tweaking her base movement speed is a good direction in helping her

After he damage nerds she just fell off. IMO I wish they gave her that power back so she could compete with other mages in damage

Syndra has a really high skill base, if you don't have a lot of experience with the champion you probably won't be able to do much. Pretty much everything is a skillshot (even her ultimate somewhat since it can scale with her Q's on the field), she has a lot of mana hunger, and missing one skillshot can potentially ruin her entire combo easily. A good main Syndra player is SIGNIFICANTLY different from a new Syndra player in comparison to most other champions in this situation.

I think Syndra needs mana buffs and for her Q to have a lower CD. Syndra overall just suffers from insane mana hunger that never really gets sated (devourer joke) even with a mana item. Similar to Cassiopeia, even when you get a fully stacked Arch Angel's you can still run out of mana if you're not careful. Typically a Syndra will build Athene's though. But Syndra's mana costs are just stupid for being a mage who's kit revolves around her spamming abilities.

I feel like when she maxes all of her abilities, all of them lose 1 - 2 seconds of their cooldown, regardless of if she has 40% CDR or not. This would definitely highlight her late game (which still isn't that strong in comparison to other champions similar to her.) and definitely allow her to be much more effective. I want Syndra to be a late game god like Vayne, but that's not what she is. She's definitely strong late game but not as strong as she should.

I thought how to improve syndra.

At each cast syndra's spells or only dark sphere), all CD are refreshed of X seconds (except ultimate......)

or

Passive grow up with spells'level, not at level 5 or/and Passive buff every spells: dark sphere +15% damage +X range + X% sphere's duration + X area ( maybe nerf at this point, it'll begin to become too "op" ......)

or

Add movement speed if drark sphere hit ennemy (like Ahri's illusion sphere maybe) during X seconds

or

ulti will become single targeted area => same ulti but when balls land around the target's area, balls deal damage(not much) at each ennemy present in the area effect.

or

dark sphere will detonate at 6 seconds and deal damage in area effect. ( buff more strategic)

or

mana costs reduce

or

Q damage come back

What do you think? Too "op" or too "trash" ? Comment and enjoy!

PS: It's a repost ;)

I play her when I'm against Viktor or TF. She stomps both of them.

Because Viktor took her spot. Why blow up one person when you can blow up everybody?

On a serious note, her early bullying was drastically toned down by nerfing her Q's early game damage.
