I pref Vayne because after buff one q makes my hp go qq.

Romtheguy2 votes

Come to think of it, she's being played more often in my matches in general. As well as that, she does not build an on-hit build, but a crit build...

Oh dear.

hit so hard even your gaming abstractions are salty.

EndlessSorcerer4 votes

I've been banning her anyways due to her buffs and the rerelease of Championship Riven.

If I don't, I'm probably going to see her in the game.

AirKingNeo4 votes

Buffs barely did anything. 20-60 base damage on her ult doesn't make her any more stronger.

crippler382 votes

one time I died from that tiny buff to base damage when I would of gotten away with less than 100 hp before.

Well 20-60 base damage buff sure as fuck didn't make her weaker.

how does that imply it made her weaker??? you didnt contradict her. she is in pretty much the same spot.

It could have been even a 1 damage buff at each rank and she would still be stronger. A buff is a buff no matter how small.

Buffs aside, she's still in almost every game unless she's banned. All of the riven mains are coming out of the wood works to ruin your games with toxicity.

AirKingNeo3 votes

That's what the Star Guardian skins are for. The weebiness will fight back the toxicity!

 Minimum base damage increased to 100 / 150 / 200 from 80 / 120 / 160.
Maximum base damage increased to 300 / 450 / 600 from 240 / 360 / 480.

20-60 base damage on her ult ey? Maybe read patch notes again.

Edit: Buffs managed her playrate to skyrocket to the most played toplaner again, with her winrate increasing even. I wouldn't say they did "nothing". And everyone should be sick of this favorism already. Hurr durr riven is not disgusting for half a season... what do we do? BUFF. CHAMPIONSHIP SKIN WILL BE ON SALE! I SAID BUFF! NOW!

Veltox2 votes

Riven will always be disgusting but not only from a gameplay perspective. Most of her fanbase is made of cringy crybaby's with the IQ of a rock thinking they will somehow surpass Box Box.

As all Riven mains said (including BoxBox) "Riven is extremely hard to play, her skillroof is insanely high and has very tough match ups. Everyone that says she is easy and you don't need mechanics for her are either ignorant or lower elo players"

Veltox1 votes

Skillcap is never a excuse for balance or being obnoxious. Azir is a perfect example.

inFamous Zion1 votes

Everyone has their preference and everyone has something some champion infuriates them. For you it might be Azir, for some Rengar etc. It can't be said that Riven is the champion everyone hates.

Downvoted by said fanbase. What a surprise...

Again? When was the last time? If i recall correctly it was at her prime time, season 3. Please elaborate your argument. Because Riven at a moment is not in top 5 for toplane (15th) and her winrate is at steady 50%. Kayle, Gangplank, Ilaoi, Jayce are by far the best toplaners currently. Please for the love of god, since you are this talkative and a smartass, elaborate your statement that ''her winrate increasing' (even though her winrate droped by 3%). Cmon, hit me with the facts.

It was unintentional because of the update to auto attacks.

hhaavviikk3 votes

''unintentional'' of course, just as they re-release championship riven, THE COINCIDENCE.

I've seen Riven players including myself do much worse on her recently because of this stuff (sound bug last patch too). You should definitely permaban her, not because you'll lose to her, but because the Riven on your team will whine like a bitch. Hypocrisy Op

This link is for every ignorant hater here saying she is broken, easy, too buffed etc. Not only that there are some of you saying her winrate is too high, but also you don't need mechanics for her. This is something an ignorant person would say and lower elo player. No, these are not my words but Adrians, BoxBoxs etc.

Champion.gg hasn't released 6.20 stats yet, as it takes them 3 days from patch day to do so. OP is complaining about the new auto attack lock in regards to riven, which does make her fast combo a bit easier since it is easier to not accidentally cancel your autos or some crap like that.

inFamous Zion1 votes

I don't consider this as a bug and i don't know why every other person does. Those who know how to do a fast combo without this, won't notice any change. And this is how Riot intended it, to be harder to cancel autos. As far as i see Riot has 2 choices>

  1. Remove this from Riven, but that would mean its unfair since every other champion would get a slight buff because of it, while she wouldn't. Unfair that everyone else can have this feature while she can't.
  2. Not implement this at all. Big problem again since this is something they wanted to change for a while.
  3. Remove her fast Q animation canceling in order for this to work. Again, that would destroy a champion.

Either way as you see, there is no really a way out.

The issue is that she can cancel both auto animations AND skills I think, and as you pointed out keeps her balance in a precarious state. It would likely be easier for them to remove it and then be able to balance her like every other champion, getting predictable changes from increases to her health regeneration, defenses, or damage. Currently the smallest of changes can sometimes create unusually dramatic changes in her performance, as evidenced by the recent change in how auto attacks are registered.

In short, Riven needs to have animation cancelling on skills removed then it wouldn't matter about auto attack animation cancelling as much.

inFamous Zion1 votes

No, you can't cancel a skill. They say its a bug since she spins faster which is due to auto attack actually hitting. Not like before when it would slow down due to a missed auto attack. If animation canceling is removed, then a champion would be destroyed. Since that is her core.

she has always been able to cancel animations for skills and autos... you q to cancel the auto, you move to cancel the q.

Indeed she has and has always been harder to balance because of an interaction that few other champions can do, and none as frequently. Thus my point, as long as she remains able to cancel animations for skills she will remain difficult to balance. She would greatly benefit from allowing her to queue up the skills but finish the animations for one skill before starting another, and then rebalance her survivability and damage around that, maybe giving her a cooldown refund if she is interrupted in a combo for whatever skill was next up. Then she would behave like other champions who get locked into their animations and cannot just move to cancel the animation and still get the damage.

every single champion in the game can cancel animations for skills... there are 2 parts to every animation in the game. the front end, which happens before the skill fires and damage is done, and the back end, which happens after the skill fires and damage is done. you can always cancel the back end animation, and this is intentional. rivens q just happens to be mostly back end animation, whereas a skill like lux ult is almost entirely front end. most skills are in the middle of the 2.

Hard to balance, has had around a 50% win rate for a while now. Logic. As for this "buff". All this does is make Riven available to more people. I don't think it buffs her as a champion. It just makes her animation cancelling available to more people who are not as good at it. It does the same thing to any other champion.

What if the Riven's on my team?

I want that win of the day...

Maximum Morde1 votes

I always ban a champion that gets a skin released for a few weeks. Yeah, Championship is not new, but it might as well be new thanks to previous availability.

darknuke1 votes

Except most people still have no idea how to properly play Riven, so I'm not too worried.

Ictus1 votes

also, i dont get what you mean. she feels the exact same to me? is this something that only happens if you cant fast combo?

AL0001 votes

A real issue is her mobility... She could attack and move at same time... not funny.
