Gangplank's Ultimate needs buffed

Kingsgrave··5 votes·769 views

Now deals damage per .5 seconds instead of per 1 second Now slows for 40/50/60% in the circle up from 25%

This way its an actual threat and can deal more than 2 barrages to people inside the circle. Right now its just a glorified "farm the wave from top lane" ability for 100 mana on a 90 or so second cooldown.

His ult is definitely nerfed, not buffed as said in the patch notes. It barely hits them twice, and is really only good for picking up etremely low health enemies or team fights if they do group up.

and even then its way too easy to just run out of it. I've hit people in the center with it and they were hit 2 times before they left.

Not sure if his ult needs any more buffs. His win rate has increased in all brackets of play after the buff to his ult, with win rates being higher in higher elos than lower elos. Bronze winrate for him is about 49% compared to above 50% in Diamond, with a higher pick rate in Diamond than in bronze.

It's a global, no channel large AoE with a slow and it's now more reliable. If you want it to deal more damage, you have to lose one if those.

They could have just left it alone...

Riot doesn't want GP top lane to ever happen again. His passive + ult becomes a guaranteed kill every time you trade well.

Except GP will never trade well against a top laner that knows what they are doing. His ultimate is an ultimate, it's also his only non-autoattack damage skill (q is basically a ranged auto), it should feel more impactful. Right now, it's a very poor form of zoning/initiation/peel. I think just increasing the slow % would be fine because with all the mobility creep, it's hard for him to be useful in teamfights.

I'm confused. I used to main GP, and I'm going to be maining him again because of how huge this buff was. You guys don't seem to understand his ult. It isn't a giant death nuke. It is a global zone denial tool, global wave clear tool, and anti-all in tool. It isn't supposed to be a massive damage threat. He isn't Ziggs.

If the enemy top laner goes all in on you, drop it on yourself and either win the duel because 500+ damage is an absurd amount if they fight inside of it for the duration or just back off through it, fighting as you go. If the bot lane is getting ganked, drop it on them to make sure the enemy bot lane and jungler have to go through the whole length of the nuke and slow to finish them off. Oh, you're team fighting at Dragon and the enemy is split pushing top? Clear the wave top. Enemy is disengaging a fight? Drop it behind them.

His ult isn't for putting on top of the enemies head and having them die. It never has been. It is for putting on top of their head and having them be forced to get out of the zone. Which is exactly what they are doing if they are running away immediately and only getting hit by it twice.

Sure, I'll take a buff to his ult. But he really doesn't need it.

"I used my ultimate on someone who was not forced to stay in the area, and they escaped alive. Wah."

Use it to split up a fight. Use it on someone that Morgana snared. Use it when the enemy team engages the team fight. Use it to force someone to either walk through it for damage or around it and risk getting caught by chasers. Use your brain to figure out how to use his ult

You want it to deal damage, build AP and a Liandry's.
