Whats that reason for Shyvana existing in her current state anymore?

Tusutaki··4 votes·1,887 views

What is she even supposed to do? What is she supposed to even provide to the team? I never seen a champion with this much of an identity problem. She doesnt have reliable damage in her kit, she is auto based but has almost nothing to support it, cant be tanky without building tank, the most useless passive in the game, ect. Is she supposed to be used against tanks? 2.5% max hp as magic per auto means nothing to them. Is she supposed to build AP now since her E buff? Because that is the only reliable damage she has now. Her and Kindred currently have no reason in any scenario to be picked.

It's getting to the point where she would be better off if she had mana.

Shyvana is meant to be the queen of invades and dragon killing, but whenever she's good at either she apparently gets too strong so they nerf her for it.

I honestly dont remember her at all being a jungle invade. As with dragon killing she only does 10% more damage to and mind you that its not true damage like a mountain buff. The only time I remember her being strong or even relevant at the slightest were some seasons ago when her W could clear camps and minions like no tomorrow and her Q having decent ratios.

Its that in her current state she has no reason to be here. Even Aatrox performs better. AATROX

When devourer was a thing she was really strong, even more than she is. She can invade really well because of her Q and W. Your W does AOE damage that lasts longer for attacking and does bonus on hit damage. Q gets reduced for auto attacking. Your start Q, W second camp, and have a fast enough clear to steal one camp from the enemy and still do your jungle. You do it to build a gold lead until you can just duel the enemy and chase them out of their jingle and steal their buffs.

Her passive is basically like another self buff that you in addition to the dragon buffs, you can easily play her without the dragon buffs and her passive

Shyvana has been tossed into the dumpster and is badly in need of compensation buffs to be made meta/viable again.

She is still an amazing jungle duelist, counter jungler, and in teamfights tank engage.

No shes not in all the above when you compare her with other champs that does her job but better. Why would anyone ever choose Shyvana over Jax, Kayn/Rhaast, Graves, and Warwick? What can she do that the said champs cant?

Infernape3 votes

Take dragon after her first clear? The only other champ that can do that is Warwick because of his innate sustain.

JJI7441 votes

Most AA based junglers can handle dragon solo after their first buy.

She is a juggernaut so she can do tons of damage while tanking tons of damage herself. Which her passive helps her do, by getting more dragons she increases her tankyness which means she can get more offensive items and be a better duelist

If you consider Shyvana a Juggernaut then Jax might as well be too. She doesnt do tons of damage without having damaging items and relying on Dragon to obtain any resistances is about as reliable as Kindred getting stacks. It's also bad when you're comparing her passive to someone like Olaf where he gets them for free at level 6 and as much as her getting 3 dragons. Olaf who also functions and has the same playstyle as her but infinitely more effectively.

You build as a fighter/skirmisher and run at things to kill them. That's pretty much it. A lot like Xin or Udyr.

Tusutaki1 votes

Xin and Udyr have utilities in their kit to reliably auto champions and protecting themselves at the same time. Xin and Udyr has the sustain and defensive buffs. Udyr can go fast for much longer and Xin has a point and click dash while locking target down with a knockup. Although im still not happy with how they reworked Xin. Why they put the attack speed steroid into his Dash is beyond me.

If you built her right the changes really make little difference. The changes are to stop people building her full AP to abuse her high AP ratios. Just build her like most people do (item 1416 item 3022 item 3748 item 3193 + (insert appropriate tank item here) and you'll be fine. You still do stupid damage, tank almost anything and can dive into that back line, kill 2 people then pop gargoyles and tank shred with your team.

But what about cooldown? Her W being her only way to reliably auto outside of her ult is on an extremely long cooldown that any sort of peel practically negates her. And if you just so happen to miss her E then you're nothing more than a worse tanky Yi.

Thus Frozen mallet and chilling smite. Also as a Jg its rare you've used your flash, so you can flash aggressively. Also her ult is a CC, you ult the frontline into the backline (interulting all) then E at your feet and auto + Titanic. That tends to be enough to 1 shot most squishies. Then pop gargoyles and W and either chase the fuckers down that lived (Smite/flash onto them) or if the fight is going badly, run away. Remember gargoyles resistances are DOUBLED when surrounded by 3 opponents or more AND when you activate it you gain 100% bonus hp for this too! Try and kill a Shyvana with 200 armour and MR, 7k hp, and an additional 60% damage reduction, while 4 of her teammates are beating on you. I just did the same thing with nocturne. 1 shot their ADC, popped gargoyles and randuins and tanked everything while my darius, ez and zoe killed everything in sight. Even if you die you still won the teamfight and therefore the baron/game. If you don't want titanic and want to be even HARDER to kill, get Steraks. Jump in, pop gargoyles and wants as you get a shield for about 8k from your bonus hp (remember gargoyles 100% bonus hp works with steraks :P).

Note: Her ult cd is reduced by aa. Go farm a camp and you're good to go xD

If you time it correctly then you can use your r to negate any peel or wait for the enemy to use key cc/escapes before ulting into the back line and fighting.

For example: summoner 4 or Thresh box

When I go top with shyvana I usually go titanic and rageblade, then I usually get tank items after

Makes sense, Rageblade for top in place of bloodrazor jungle :)

Yeah the extra proc’s of e, w and titanic are amazing in a 1v1 scenario

I used to force her into tank going Glacial + item 3116 for her W (Aram). Then Build tanky. Now I can't even do that because Rito.

Doge20201 votes

And btw the passive parts of her q, w and e all have synergies with each other and her aa. First e somebody, then prep titanic and q, w and walk up to somebody and aa them. Titanic, q, e, w and if you have it deadman’s will all proc at once

She's a mixture between Udyr and Hecarim.

She excels at snowballing - not like Lee Sin, who has the tools to get ahead easily but has to be careful not to throw a lead, and not like Master Yi, who has to mostly try to play passive and farm but will quickly get out of control if allowed a few kills, but somewhere in the middle.

Her strength is that she can put out massive amounts of damage in melee without many items, but also gets a ton of damage from any given damage item she gets.

She's a funny mix of a few things, but a unique mix, with a well solidified purpose.

How lacking in game knowledge does one have to be to not realise Shyvanas entire job is to farm her and the enemys jungl and beat the enemy team with the bags of gold she farmed for 20 minutes

Doge20201 votes

Jax can be built tanky, but he is not an actual tank/juggernaut. and you can easily nullify the problem of not getting enough dragons by building items with resist stats. Her passive is there to help push her towards the jungler rather than top lane. And even with a minimum amount of items she can deal a lot of damage.

Think of her getting drags as nasus getting a lot of stacks, sure it is helpful to get a lot of stacks but it is not something that you are 100% required to get EVERY SINGLE GAME. Just like with nasus, Riot put in counterplay for shyvana, deny her dragon kills and you cause her to be slightly less tanky, deny nasus farm and you cripple his dueling potential and turret taking power.

I have won games with shyvanna with my team never getting a single dragon.
