And honestly some games I don't build sightstone, I know I'm such a bad support QQ, but sometimes if our mid laner is doing poorly, ill opt out of ss and just go for damage, ive been flamed repeatedly just for not getting ss but in all honesty, supports are not ward bots. When you have 2 available wards that are FREE I might add, ss isn't cheap, You cant say shit. It drives me insane that I see a '2' next to my teammates wards, and then I get flamed at because they facechecked, I also buy quite a few control wards so it isn't like I'm neglecting warding, if everyone used their wards then we wouldn't even need SS, now would we?

I'm not disagreeing completely, but am providing a counter argument.

They did make the gold income item build into a new item to save a sightstone spot. Yes you still have to spend it, but unless you are getting rid of the gold income item, you can just buy item 2303 item 2302 item 2301 and still build damage ham and cheese.

Rumor has it that placing wards and killing enemy wards contribute to an S rank. Could always encourage them with that. "If you help ward, it would increase the chances of an S."

I opt out of item 2301 to get item 3092 because it just feels better and I prefer the active

I understand completely with that. I usually build Ruby and spam item cds. Course, that is when I play my tankier supports.

I think your decision is perfectly fine if you are okay with the trade off you are making. I support a lot too, but I buy sight stone or the alternative which is the gold items with wards because it helps in team fights and of course protecting objectives. I honestly don't really care if it helps my team mates haha (of course it does) but even in some other roles like jungler I often buy sight stone because of its many benefits. I understand your desire to go more damage it is very tempting, but one of the benefits of sight stone is the health, especially when you are going up against a team in which every role (except support) as a gold advantage and level advantage on you. If you are able to survive longer you can help your team out even more, that is sometimes better than going damage and not hitting your abilities which might mean you die or possibly lose team fight.

As a jungle don't buy ss. Just a heads up. Poachers knife is a 2 ward sight stone that can be built into damage items. I actually occasionally take smite in support because that way I can build Poachers knife runic echos and have my damage item that works as a sight stone

There's really only two times I would forgo SS for more damage. 1) if we are constantly being pushed in, or otherwise hugging the turret. (Because I can roam far enough to plant vision) or 2) the ADC is AFK or otherwise out of lane, and I need to defend the lane. (Hopefully I picked a mage support)

And in Either case, I'm usually only asking for a raincheck. However, I pretty much never skip sight stone when we're ahead. With the extra vision, I can have bot side lit up like a Christmas tree, and insure that we don't get shut down.

I agree somewhat but, i also feel like vision is a really really big part of the game and helps a tremendous amount if you do it right along with alot of control wards. But i mean you also get some gold out of buying some of the items so yknow its pretty worth

tbh your not losing that much damage by building hte ap ss item..... i run with scalign ap runes so you literally lose nothing by building that item and i do plenty of damage.

I'm sorry what? 800g for 3 free wards that refresh for free every time you go to fountain. I guess you'd like to go back to the day where there was no sightstone and you had to buy wards separately almost spending 300 on every back.
