What if Crit was only half as likely to work?

So i been thinking about this for a while, and i keep coming back to one thing. "Why is crit chance so high?" I love the idea of landing a clutch critical and changing the course of a fight. I love the idea of ADC's building it and having it help with the DPS and siege power. I HATE that it's so easy to get so much of it. i can drop 8600 gold and buy item 3031 + item 3087 + item 3094 , 80% chance to do 250% damage and a ton of bonus attack speed to make sure that i land quite a few in a short period of time. Now imagine for a second if that same investment only gave me 40% crit chance? If i land a crit i still hit like a run away semi truck, BUT i have a much lower chance of doing that. Sure if i get super lucky i could still land 4 crits in a row and melt all but the tanky of tanky targets. But more likely i only land 1 maybe 2 of those. Players can now react to the ADC, which means that they have to be protected more. A protected ADC is still going to melt faces, but an unprotected one is not going to have the security of doing 500 damage per attack while also attacking about 2 times per second, or in other words "i'm safe because my damage output kills anything coming at me"

This wouldn't really change anything.

Really? You don't feel that halving the chance of a crit would vastly change the way that ADC's play? And the way that other classes play around them? What do you think it would take to make ADC's into the sustained damage dealers, rather then burst on top of DPS.

Increase everyone's defenses again, but that would lead back to a tank meta, which people also complained about.

Imo they should keep it as it is but make item 3094 item 3087 work similar to item 3156 item 3053 that they do not stack(like you won't be able to buy them both)

Maybe... i think part of the issue is the combo of high crit chance on top of high attack speed. Like if i had to pick between the two that would be one thing, like i can stand the idea of a 500-700 point crit that basically always triggers IF it meant that the enemy had really low attack speed, i can stand the idea of a champion with like 250-300 AD with 2.00+AS if it meant they basically never crit. But the fact that i can kind of easily build a champion with 200+ AD, 80%+ crit chance, AND 2.00+ AS just feels super unfun.

I like comparing it to the idea of an AP character getting 500+ AP while also getting 50-60% CDR for 8.5K gold. Or a tanky champion that can get 200+ armor and magic resist, plus 2-3K bonus HP for the same amount. So much power while also leaving up plenty of space to build other items that help fill out what ever "weak" areas are left.
