I think long ranged champs fair well against an Azir because Azir wont be able to bully them as much.

Champs to consider are Xerath, Ziggs, and Lux.

Other champs that are not ranged but may do well is Leblanc, Katarina, and Fizz.

Leblanc isnt ranged now???

Look at their examples. They are talking about long range.

LeBlanc is not long range.

League over-favors ranged champions.

i think its more of a skill matchup rather than champion counters. Then again i haven't really played against Azir all that much. You can get (hopefully) your jungler to gank you (pref before 6). Block his e and he's basicly done for unless you fk up.

I find syndra and lux to be ok counters. It is kind of a skill matchup, but if you have someone with range and poke, it might be a bit more in your favor.

Kassadin

I list a hard counter and get a downvote? Lol

Your 'hard counter' isn't really that good into Azir pre level 11 and the game is pretty much decided at that point.

FooDang1 votes

?? Post 6 Kass destroys Azir. Azir easily stacks Kass E and if Azir Q's anywhere you just Ult into his face and give him a taste...

nm10101 votes

On mobile so I'm just going to assume you don't play both of these champions or play them infrequently. If you play post 6 like you suggest you are going to be eating solder autos all the way back to your turret, assuming you aren't ganked for playing like an idiot and using your escape aggressively on cool down.

Feel free to go look up kass's winrate into Azir, last I saw he was ~45%.

Im mastery 7 Kass and played against many an Azir. Timing is key. Its not hard to know when to go all-in. Pretty much bait his Q and your good or if he saves his q then poke with Q and E and walk away. Q has a magic shield ( im sure you know that) so you will come out on top in every trade. And you can last hit outside of soldiers ranges with W. You just have to stay even pre 6.

Im mastery 7 Kass

So is tinhead Timmy who is hard stuck bronze 5.

As for the rest of your post let me give you a scenario. Kass takes tp in this match up or insta loses, azir takes barrier.

Post 6 azir places a solder to hit the ranged minions and you if you try to farm. You walk forward and he auto q's you, you r e q and try to walk forward to proc w. He summons a second solder and starts autoing you while kiting.

From this point if you walk away he get ~3 solder autos and another q off causing you to lose the trade significantly. If you try to all in he has a combat summoner, a likely hp advantage, and an escape if he somehow manages to fuck up.

He places soldier. I walk towards him and Q him or he backs off to avoid Q and maybe places soldier to stop my pathing , go and farm. He tries to Q me All soldiers move to that spot and I avoid all Q damage when I Ult to his face and full combo. By the time His Q is back up I can Ult wherever and wait for Cooldowns and rinse repeat.

Just like if Kass was vs Orianna he can avoid all Q damage and Azir is vulnerable for a short amount of time. You use that time to punish him quickly and get out before he can retaliate.

And no im not trying walk after I ult and W him cause I know how to position. You start with Ult right on him and AA>W because auto reset and if your not close enough to get the first Auto then just W him. W gets an extended range when you cast it. Then E then Q and walk away.

Not saying its an autowin lane but Kass does have the edge.

You are acting like you outrange his q, if you just walk at him he will q you. Your ult has a cast time so using to reactively dodge his q from nearly point blank range is not possible.

You say "all solders" when referencing his q, no decent Azir would use more than one solder at a time against such an easy champ to shove in like Kassadin.

You talking about "knowing how to position" is also a pretty inept observation. "Ulting right on him" is hard when his q out ranges your r damage by 120 units. He can q auto and walk out of your r damage range long before being in danger.

Sure you can rely on the Azir being bad, but there is a reason why he has a 53% winrate vs Kass in diamond+.

FooDang1 votes

No on the point blank Q. Why would I stand that close to his soldiers to let him do that? And yes you can reactively dodge his Q.

Even if he's smart and plays max range I can still dodge his Q with R then E>Q and back off winning the trade.

Now the lane shove is a problem and if you dont have a jungler to pressure him from doing that then yea he can be a problem early. Post 6 I usually dont have any problems with Azir and can Bully him dependant on how pre 6 went.

But its whatever dude. Ill play Kass into Azir anyday.

nm10101 votes

You have a delay on Kassadin r of about .25 seconds, which is why you can r flash on kassadin. If the Azir has his solders positioned correctly no one can reactively dodge it as Kass.

I finally broke down and looked you up... do you think that just maybe the 5 1/2 year mid lane main in diamond might have some better knowledge on the subject over the gold support main? Again are you going to argue the fact Azir has a 53% winrate in ~10k games in diamond+ vs Kassadin?

FooDang1 votes

I main every lane.

I play for fun and only rank to G5 for the season rewards.

I know what Kassadin can do.

Win rates doesnt really matter to me, there are many factors that are involved with the meta and win rates doesnt nessesarily mean 1v1.

Do you even Kassadin because I looked you up and all I saw were losses on Kass.

nm10101 votes

You main every lane xD are you one of those people who says you 'main' a champion after 10 games?

I play for fun

Then don't give advice to someone looking for actual improvement.

Do you even Kassadin because I looked you up and all I saw were losses on Kass

Loss* I don't think I played him more than once on this account. I took a rather long break after playing during the ranked reset, when I came back I hit diamond in 50ish games. On the account I played on most of the season I played a decent amount of games with him. Last season he was my pick into Viktor and I did fairly well. And of course I played him whenever he wasn't banned back it the day.

That is just ranked games of course.

Learn his soldier ranges and most importantly, bait his Q. If his Q is on cd he's more vulnerable if you can close the gap.

He's due to be on free rotation any time now. When he is, playing a couple games as him will really increase you knowing his weak points.

nm10101 votes

You eat shit in laning phase and try to roam when you can. Later on try to split push so you can set up dives on him in a side lane (it's much easier now that his r doesn't stop dashes permanently).

Other then that it's on the Azir player to mess up, you can't really do much except farm if he plays well against most champions.

Zero Shingetsu1 votes

Avoid his soldiers. Drones? Minions? Clones? Whatever. Avoid them. If you have a dash or jump, bait him into using his... E, I believe? The thing that slides the soldiers over to you. Then jump on him. Once he's done that, he's useless for several seconds. He can dash to them of course, but then he's out of range again. It's all about finding the cadence and keeping your feet throughout the dance.

You might find success with a diver who can get on top of him and CC him. Irelia, Renekton, Jarvan, and Xin Zhao come to mind.

Sure it would be unconventional to bring a diver mid-lane, but your team isn't going to complain once you start getting fed.

Jarvan in particular, I've had success in the past by playing him mid.
