He has the tankiness and damage of a Juggernaut, but it's locked behind highly telegraphed zones of threat, like a Disruptor. He has high impact CC with his Q, but it's very unreliable and locked behind his long-wind up Q.
I know Riot considers him unique, but I thought I'd try to fit him into the subclasses.

There's simply tanks, off-tanks, assassins, mages, and ADC. Trying to diversify champions further than that is ridiculous.
Tanks lack the ability to peel. Off-tanks peel like a bitch but cannot tank (effectively tanking because they can disrupt an enemy).
Assassins lurk around and cannot take direct damage without blowing up but can secure kills like nobody else. The reason they cannot tank is because they lack the ability to damage when not building damage (tanks can deal massive damage without building any damage at all).
Mages are not ADC and cannot tank. ADC cannot build tank because they will deal no damage.
So basically the game boils down to tank vs non-tanks.
