Which support do you pick for these kinds of situations?

In champ select I keep running into these situations where I don’t know which support to choose for the situation.

Case 1: Your team needs CC but the enemy bot laners are champions that can escape cc well (Ex: Morgana and Sivir).

Case 2: Your team needs a front line to protect allies or engage but the enemy team has a Vayne.

Case 3: Your team needs engage but the enemy has a Draven.

Case 4: The enemy team has a lot of assassins and divers.

Case 5: Your team needs a front line for engage but the enemy team has heavy poke (Ex: Cait and Brand/Zyra).

Case 6: The enemy team has heavy CC.

Case 7: The enemy has a Hecarim.

Case 8: The enemy team has a dangerous front line (Ex: Darius, Vi, Trundle, Mord, Fiora) but your team needs a front line.

Case 9: Your team needs frontline engage but the enemy support is a Braum.

Case 10: Your team has too much AD but also no front line.

A difficulty is idiots don't use Champion Intent because they have to deal with teammates greifing them enough times. You ideally want to use bans to support your comp, patch holes in the weaknesses And pick around echother for good synergy.

So, personally I usually look for a generalist pick with good impact vs "the meta" and spend the ban on a worst case champion for my playstryle.

You might want to try Alistar and ban morg. Displacement is fantastic CC. Its a very simple kit to use. Complexity being mostly around how your using headbutt and working around long CD early game. I have some bias as I grinded thru gold4 to plat4 with him at 32W13L71%

Thresh is a solid pick. Just try to remain calm and don't break your keyboard when people struggle with the complex mechanic of clicking the dam lantern.

Leona Is a good engage champion. You can struggle with poke, Its frustrating to not get follow up, so you need to learn how to player her as peel in addition to opening fights to handle teammates derping on you.

Rakan might be an option due to his mobility providing a lot of opportunity's but personally im not good enough at him to make accurate claims. Seen a few run games but its not been me playing him.

Honestly. Soraka is underrated.

BlitZ ..Blitz and umm more blitz lol

Leona Nautilus

In just about every situation these are the optimal picks.

Techinaly morgana is annoying to play against, but ok for these two.

Higher level play is pretty much pick/ban one or the other while leona being stronger atm after nautilus being nerfed a few times.

Well, no matter the situation Thresh is never a wrong answer. Thanks CT.

And currently Naut is never the wrong answer either. He actually fulfills all of those better than anyone else right now.

Personally, Pantheon for pretty much everything but the last one.

He has good poke with his Q and it is basically an execute when the enemy is below 20% health, even building full tank.

His W is a point and click gap closer cc which is great for picking enemies. When empowered by his passive the follow up basic attacks instantly procs Press the Attack, Phase Rush, Electrocute, .. and can nearly trigger Conqueror. .. as for champions that can easily avoid cc, .. that's really just a matter of timing. The point-and-click nature of his W means the enemy needs to have something like Black Shield on before he clicks on them. Otherwise they are reacting to cleanse his cc. If you can bait them into putting it on cooldown, your presence goes way up.

His E makes up for his "tankiness" when you're going for a more aggressive build. I usually expect that the enemy is going to turn on me as soon as I engage, so I will usually W to them and immediately E in the direction of the biggest damage threat. His E is also a deceptively good source of damage on whoever he is on top of. It can also block projectiles like Yasuo's Windwall and Braum's shield. AND, it's great for diving towers because it blocks those too, .. as long as you're pointing the shield at the damage source.

And lastly, his R. GREAT MOBILITY! Just a few steps into the river or jungle and you can drop on mid lane. You can also use it as a quick return from base, but I would only do that if you're returning to a fight.

As for the 'too much physical damage" problem ... The cc portion of his W and the AOE on his R do deal magic damage, and they both scale with 100% AP... but even I would say that's pretty troll

Case 1: Your team needs CC but the enemy bot laners are champions that can escape cc well (Ex: Morgana and Sivir).

This depends on your adc and the rest of your team. I would recommend thresh here since he has decent CC but also provides plenty of safety for your main carry in lane.

Case 2: Your team needs a front line to protect allies or engage but the enemy team has a Vayne.

Just play senna and 1shot her.... Or I would say Blitzcrank/Nautillus. They can both cc her relatively easily and if you land a hook on her then its a won fight.

Case 3: Your team needs engage but the enemy has a Draven.

Leona/Nauti are always best engage options currently.

Case 4: The enemy team has a lot of assassins and divers.

Poppy if they have alot of dashes, Thresh if not.

Case 5: Your team needs a front line for engage but the enemy team has heavy poke (Ex: Cait and Brand/Zyra).

Braum can be good for dealing with poke but I would only recommend playing him if you are pre with your adc. Again... Blitz and Nauti are excellent here since you can hook enemies into you for your team to blow up before the enmey team can engage.

Case 6: The enemy team has heavy CC.

Morgana or Janna are best for protecting your carries.

Case 7: The enemy has a Hecarim.

Thresh or Rakan. If you time it right then you can cancel his E hit with your knockup/flay.

Case 8: The enemy team has a dangerous front line (Ex: Darius, Vi, Trundle, Mord, Fiora) but your team needs a front line.

Run. Run for the hills.

Case 9: Your team needs frontline engage but the enemy support is a Braum.

Leona, Rakan. Both of them have ways of landing big CC past braum's shield.

Case 10: Your team has too much AD but also no front line.

Any of the engage supports previously mentioned. Leona,Nautillus,Thresh,Rakan. All of them work well there.
