You are in charge of making a new map what would you do to make it feel unique?

You are in charge of making a new map for normal and ranked games. What gimmicks would you put into this map to make it stand out compared to summoners rift?

Examples: 2 dragon pits, one on top and one on bot side of map. Baron pit is in middle of map. There are 4 lanes. The map is near Mt. Targon. Etc...

Make cool map - People like it - Riot Removes it.

I got a really cool idea for a map. Here I drew the concept:

https://cdn.gamer-network.net/2018/metabomb/nexus-blitz-map-full.jpg

It'd be 5v5 and have events that rotate in once in awhile like URF or Scuttle Racing with unique rewards for winning each event.

Zairel12/25/2019, 1:31:53 AM5 votes

Scuttle crab evolves into a Herald and proceeds to gank everyone.

It would be set in the freljord, river would be frozen over and champions would slide.

The dragons would be Glacial, Volcanic and Storm and they would shape the map as they die. It begins with a pretty open area with jungles in the side, seperated by the frozen river. As the dragons die, the map will gain snow drifts, lava pools and charged chasms respectively.

Dragon flies up and down the river, baron is in the middle of the map and jungle has stronger and more rewarding creeps but 2 on each side. One side + crab gives level 3^

Some kind of Control Point mode where players capture one of five nodes and minions move between them. There's already a control point character Skarner so it would be a thematic fit to have it use crystals.

Jimmy Rustles12/24/2019, 9:56:39 PM3 votes

Each camp is Baron and all creeps are rift heralds

Good luck

I would make a map with 3 different main path, with a big path crossing them like a river. Put some useless stuff on the way of the main path just to hold the game. The main goal is go to to the end of the opposite side and destroy a big stone, to do that you need to destroy ur enemies and buy items but the most important thing is to shine with the amazing skins rito will sell to you, you use them during the game just to feel cooler, use champs with 3 dashes and 100-0 dmg is the best, and basically only, option. But we do have some other champs, some look cute so we can still make some skins, the other ones... they are there, you can use but trust me... use the flashy ones with the SKINS.. the skins is important remember that.

that is the map and gameplay I think I got the important parts =D

Why do we need a new map since this one is super good?

A 5v5 ARAM style map themed around Ionia. It could be the placidum with the intricate arches and floating architecture.

not exactly a map idea, but how about a 3v3v3 gamemode.

Take SR then get rid of mid lane and make one giant jungle in the middle of the map. After that semi-randomize objectives in it, with their location generally favoring the team that's behind. Finally towers can't be destroyed, instead they are captured by standing in range of them when there aren't champs or minions around to protect them (minions can capture towers if unopposed).

FrancisMuni12/25/2019, 5:04:36 PM2 votes

A battle royale in a giant jungle in Ixtal. Said jungle is divided in 4 quadrants, that have unjumpable walls delimiting them (not even Kayn can pass) and are connected only by some narrow paths. In the center of each quadrant there is a Red buff (quadrants north and south) or Blue buff (east and west). There are also fruits like Blast Cones and stuff.

At min 5, an Elemental Dragon spawns in every quadrant, with every Dragon being placed in a random position in one of them; and then they would start roaming around that quadrant. The Dragon's healthbar is divided in 7 Scales (that work basically like tower plates). Every time a playes destroys a Scale, he gets money and the Elemental Dragon buff that matches with that particular Dragon; although these buffs can only be stacked once with the same Dragon.

Basically, every player in each quadrant should go to the Dragon and aim to get at least 1 Scale so they can get the buff. The Dragons' current position is displayed in the minimap at all times so people can't get unlucky enough to not find them in time. Dragons respawn 5 minutes after the last one is killed, and the first to die in every quadrant determines the Elemental jungle of that sector. The same Elemental Dragon can't spawn twice in the same quadrant until all the elements have already rotated (so an Infernal can't spawn twice in the same sector until the 5th rotation, for example).

There is a giant Pit in the center of the map in which the Herald spawns at minute 15. The Pit is delimited by the same kind of unpassable barrier, and also has small connections to each quadrant. When Herald dies, every player that has contributed gets gold depending on the % damage that player has done, and the one that gets the kill gets a special reward.

10 minutes after Herald dies, Elder Dragon will spawn in the same Pit. His lifebar will also be divided in 7 Scales, with the same system as the other Dragons. The player that kills it also gets 1 extra life. In this case, the main reward is a Dragon Soul, that you can choose from the Elemental Dragon buffs that you already have. If you haven't managed to get a single Dragon buff until that point, sry but you don't get anything more than gold.

Killing Elder completely changes the dynamic of the game. Elemental Dragons stop spawning and a tropical hurricane envelops the map, with his eye slowly narrowing until only the Pit remains unnafected (your typical battle royale ending).

Camps:

  • Tier 1 (Wolves, Wraiths, Gromp) -Give 150 Gold and 100-120 exp -Respawn after a minute

  • Tier 2 (Krugs, Raptors, Lizards) -Give 50 Gold, 120-150 exp and a random basic item (Longsword, Ruby Crystal...), excluding BF Sword, Pickaxe, Needlessly Large Rod, Blasting Wand and Cloak of Agility -Respawn after 2 minutes

  • Tier 3 (Buffs) -Give 150 Gold, 150-200 exp, a random basic item (with the same exceptions) and the corresponding Buff -Respawn after 4 minutes

  • Tier 4 (Dragons) -Give 120 Gold for each Scale and the corresponding Dragon buff -Respawn 5 minutes after the last of them is killed

  • Tier 5 (Herald) -Give 15 Gold for each 1% of his lifebar -Player that kills him gets 2 random basic items (again, the same restrictions) -Appears at minute 15 and only once

  • Tier 6 (Elder) -Give 250 Gold for each Scale and the ability to get 1 Dragon Soul -Player that kills him gets 1 random advanced item (Chain Vest, Giant's Belt...) and a Guardian Angel effect with only 1 use (but it heals your entire lifebar) -Only appears once, 10 minutes after Herald is defeated

To buy an item, you have to rely on your TFT Little Legend, which will fly to the edge of the map to buy and then come back to you to bring you the item. They can buy or sell up to 3 items in the same trip, but they will be visible to other players, so shopping too often isn't recommended as it will give away your position (except if you are Ornn, of course).

Before the start, you pick your champ, runes, summoner spells (Smite is mandatory) and the quadrant in which you want to spawn. Then you spawn in one of the several starting positions in that sector, picked at random. Theoretically you can play any champ, but junglers are recommended for obvious reasons.

I think a cool map idea is one with a central lane that does not have towers which is along the lines of nexus blitz. It instead has zones that need to be captured. There is a large jungle on each side of the lane with neutral monsters to slay in order to get income. To capture them, you must have more champions in the zone than your opponents and it gains points or loses points proportional to the number of champions inside of it. Players get 2 different types of currency. They get gold as usual from jungle monsters to purchase items and a new currency from capturing or holding lane zones for map specific things which work as follows:

Offense - You can purchase different minions that each do different things. Some examples would be fast but weak ones, ones that buff nearby minions. ones that buff nearby champions, ones that are super tanks. etc.

Defense - You can purchase different zone bonuses for the captured zone as long as you control it. These would include turrets, movement speed or defensive bonuses, adaptive force bonuses, and things like pulses that stop enemy minions from spawning for a short time.

The objective of the game would be to capture every zone down the lane until you finally capture the enemy Nexus. The further away you are the more difficult it would be to capture and hold the zones but the more time you would have to farm jungle to get gold for items to more easily capture things in the future. Five zones would be between the bases with each team starting with 2 captured and one in the center that is neutral. You would be able to go through the jungle to flank the closest enemy zone or could just march it down. Only the outer most zone can be captured and you get bonus map specific currency the further away you capture towards the enemy base.

Fill the entire arena with the poppy e mechanic. No more dashes.

ThunderCraft12/24/2019, 11:35:22 PM2 votes

i would bring the exitement of warcraft 3 " 3 lanes " to league of legends.

TekkenPlayer12/25/2019, 9:46:38 PM1 votes

Im high but there's a lot of things in dota that would work in league. Id like for the map to have regional bonuses/debuffs to fit the ecosystems of certain lanes. Top lane would introduce high ground. Those with the high ground take reduced ranged damage. Using a dash from low to high ground slows grounds/debuffs that champion. Mid lane would have fortification triggers to make towers take no damage to get rid of 24/7 araming. Bot lane should have a waterway-like terrain, giving extra tenacity to allies. Jungle would have more objectives to play around and get those older smite bonuses, like an animal helper scouting for vision or giving potions to laners. Everyone would have twice the effective defense too.

Grokmir12/24/2019, 10:30:36 PM1 votes

Have a special area like they have in a map in hots

Like an underground area or teleport to an arena with a boss monster in its own area.

Or add elevation to the game that would be neat.

McKuntalds12/24/2019, 10:34:13 PM1 votes

Make garen jump out of every Bush screaming "TENCENT !!!!"

Reksee12/24/2019, 11:03:26 PM1 votes

I would make 1 very, very small lane with two massive jungles on each side and a lot of space in between towers, aka no one is safe.

Azurereaper12/25/2019, 2:12:20 AM1 votes

Void themed map.

Two lanes and a large jungle in the middle. No Baron/Dragon.

Usual jungle creatures but with say 5 extra camps. Three objectives are located in the jungle. To win the objective you must collect essence from the jungle mobs and lane minions. The objectives give a team wide boon for 180 seconds. Obtaining a second boon refreshes the timer. Same for the third.

So one boon can be 10% bonus cooldown.

Another burning dot for 1% of current health per second

Third boon bonus stats to lane minions.

Now for the void theme. Once the first tower has been taken a two fissures forms at random in the map, occasionally spawning void minions. They are hostile to all and will attack the nearest enemy, be it lane minions, towers or even jungle monsters. Once all four lane towers are destroyed the lanes get swallowed up by the void. Several more void minions spawn and the jungle monster become corrupted and harder to deal with. Two void bosses spawn in the void lanes, defeating one enraged the other, spawning a giant void creature to attack the enemies side.

After 30 minutes have gone past, the jungle objectives are now disabled and a Void Lord spawns in the centre of the map. This would be an uber boss type monster. It spawns the new lane minions (basically baron buffed minions) to attack both sides.

This void lord cannot die, but can be pushed back. Winning a fight against this boss pushes them closer to the enemy nexus, causing more minions to spawn attacking their side rather than yours.

So in sort the map evolves as the game progresses, the map also becomes slightly smaller and pushes people to play in the jungle rather than sit in the now hazardous lane during the mid game. Then finally with the boss spawning at the 30 minute mark, it's just there to speed the game up. As several minions are spawning and pushing lanes getting the main boss to work in your favor will be crucial.

gimmicks to make it feel unique? ugh, no thank you. We already get enough crap like that.

I'd rather see a contribution to player enjoyment.

Maybe an official 1v1 mode for try-hards would be nice. The 1v1s at All-Stars are always fun to watch and I think that there would be a lot of player interest in an official 1v1 mode... as in some sort of 1v1 official ranking system separate from the ranking system of standard Summoner's Rift ranked games.

Blue Shift12/25/2019, 11:16:06 AM1 votes

A much bigger map with 1 extra turret per lane.

The closer you get to the middle of the map the more aggressive the jungle camps are and will attack you if you get too close. To gank you need to go through at least one of these. There will also be more jungle camps in the jungle to allow junglers and laners to get some bonus farm. Something like 2 extra camps on red buff / blue buff sides.

The map is longer so there will be more fights able to happen in lane, due to the fact that you aren't able to just use one movement ability and hide under turret.

The map being larger allows for a third and fourth neutral objective, where there are two dragon pits on the map, one bot and one top, and Rift/Baron is at top and a new one for Watcher/Vilemaw, where Vilemaw turns your minions into spiders that fear enemy minions like a j4 passive and the watcher who gives you and your wards extra vision, as well as a few pockets of vision for free in high traffic areas like a scuttle crab.

Scuttle no longer gives vision, it now gives a short buff that gives you bonus damage to monsters including objective-class monster like Vilemaw and Rift. It still gives a bit of healing and mana, but is reduced to be balanced. Laners can contest scuttle for the bonus damage to be able to counter jungle or just farm it normally. Smite cannot be used on the new scuttle to allow for a laner to have a chance.

WoonStruck12/25/2019, 11:32:41 AM1 votes

Adjust champion balance so its a real game again.

It also looks and functions exactly like 2014 SR. Wow!

Also overhaul this game's obscenely shitty itemization.

WoonStruck12/25/2019, 11:38:20 AM1 votes

League of Legends Tower Defense, WC3 custom games style. 10v0 PvE, or even 10v1 or something pvp.

ArezuAfar12/25/2019, 6:59:12 PM1 votes

A map that is a mix of all the regions in Runeterra. The map is split into several parts and each part represents a region of Runeterra. Each region is unique and gives you special advantages (and disadvantages) that are exclusive to that region. For example one part is Ionia with the colorful scenery. The Jungles in Ionia are home to beautiful magical creatures, some might even help you. In Ionia killing too many animals will have terrible consequences. Bilgewater is a dark themed port city. This region focuses on monster hunting and trade. Piltover and Zaun is all about acquiring parts and enhancing tech. I'm thinking of a team work gamemode with this map where there is an initial phase for all regions to prepare and just like TFT they will be matched against eachother. This goes on until one region comes out victorious. Ok I was supposed to make a map, not a gamemode...

Tiamat Taric12/25/2019, 7:34:02 PM1 votes

make a area theme in parts of the map like freljord zaun noxus ect
