Nexus Siege was fun and all, but it still needs some touches here and there.
Don't get me wrong, it was nice to break away from the typical game modes and get something new. But currently I feel that Nexus Siege needs just a few touchups to be complete.
First off, champions with turret "pets" that attack towers (
) are almost too strong, especially Heimer though. In a game where as long as you chip away at the tower, you are winning, Heimer (and others), lose some/most of their tradeoff for having those turrets. Normally if behind, they get pushed back or tower dove or struggle to lane. BUt in this, all that is more or less removed. Also, gold and levels generate passively at an increased rate, so falling behind in pretty hard to do. Making heimer almost too strong.
Secondly, Siege cannons seem quite powerful for a click and forget item. Maybe lower the fre rate or damage output because currently they seemed to take towers too easily with little counterplay for the defenders besides choosing to stop the lane from pushing or destroy the cannons, both of which are not ideal choices. Also cannons seem to ignore the tower shields, so maybe stop that and have the shield take the damage first, and be able to regenerate back up after some time.
Third, An afk or a quieter is a guaranteed loss for the rest of their team. 5 push better than 4 can defend and 5 defend better than 4 can push. And without a FF option, you could be "Stuck" in a guaranteed loss for 20-40 minutes depending on when the person left and if the enemy is nice enough to just push mid. A ff option after 10 or 12 minutes, or after being down a player for a full minute would be nice.
Lastly, while not necessarily the easiest strategy, nothing is stopping the all 5 mid, top, or bot push where they just sit and defend 5 cannons in the jungle whittling away at towers until they get destroyed. Since only one side can be offensive, the defenders HAVE to answer the cannons. forcing them to neglect the other lane waves. Also, the large instant kill beam does not hit the jungle, so who cares if it goes off when all 5 members are in it defending a few cannons.
Now these are just my thoughts about what could be improved in the new game mode.
