Exactly What Will be Accomplished by Removing Draft?

I don't know if I saw it anywhere, just that Riot "wants to eventually remove draft completely"

But...why? Like I haven't seen an actual reason yet maybe that's just me.

Do you even KNOW how toxic Blind Pick gets?

People fight over roles Multiple people call a role and then everyone argues Some people just instalock a champ, never call a role, then get pissed in game when they didn't get the role they wanted

In Draft pick, during champ select, it is so much more civil.

Everyone gets a role they want, you have 2 to pick from.

Sometimes I see people trade roles and ask politely to do so.

There's so much less stress, I haven't seen a single person act toxic over roles in Draft.

The organization is SO.HELPFUL.

You want to end toxicity, right?

Then why are you getting rid of something that has at least helped to get rid of a little toxicity, at least during the champion select phase, while also adding a huge amount of organization during the process?

And yes I'm aware its only in some regions currently, but Riot has said they want to get rid of it everywhere.

Time.

They want to keep a queue around to allow for SR games without having to go through the whole drafting phase, because it's time consuming, and some people just don't have time to wait through that for a game.

The reason for removing normal draft is probably that they want to usher the playerbase into fewer number of queues, which should mean that people will instead queue for either blind pick or ranked. More people in these queues should in theory reduce their queue times as well.

(I am not saying I agree with the decision, just that this is their logic from what I can tell. IMO, I think teambuilder in place of both blind pick and draft normals would be more amenable to the community while also reducing queue options thereby theoretically reducing queue times for SR games across the board).

It's more "Time consuming" to face an ennemy champion in your lane that you have not even a chance vs him... Not even talking about "Trolls" that are picking what ever they want, people feeding cause they didn't get the role they wanted and so on... Ramove the Normal Draft decision was made by a braindead guy for sure. Normal games are here to practice for Ranked games, so Normal games should be EXACTLY as ranked are! Draft in ranked? Draft in Normal! Random pick in ranked? Random pick in Normal! And so on.

I see people play blind pick usually when they wanna do off meta and do something weird, like 2 of my friends did Talon Fiora bot

It also just creates a lot of room for toxicity before the game even starts

Personnaliy i go for off meta things in normal draft and ranked too... main thing is to pick something that you can play with and be good with (special in ranked for obvious reasons). People consider that picking duo jungle or a weird bot lane is "troll", but in fact it's not. It's only another way to play the game, another strategy that can work pretty well.

Hinting is trolling, but playing with a "new strategy" isn't, even taking an unusual pick isn't trolling.

Same thing that was accomplished by removing Team Builder and Dominion, I guess.

Technically speaking, they worded it poorly by saying they want to remove Normal Draft in and ideal world. What they'd actually like to do is combine Blind pick and Normal Draft in some form to make a single queue for new players to learn the game (controls and such) while experienced players can learn the slightly more intricate things (champion kits and roles). They're removing Normal draft from the other regions because they aren't used as often (I assume most play Ranked and any new players play Blind), so they figure they may as well get rid of it.

Aren't Normal Games supposed to be for learning the game? So why the HELL would you blind pick?! Let's take a simple example: you pick Teemo top (cause you love Teeto) and the other guy picks LB (LB before Assa update)... Actually except if someone wanna switch lane if poss, you can AFK, what's the fun part of bein fucked even before the game starts? Ranked even start in the champ select, counter picks and so on, in blind pick well, it's nearly as an Aram, will you get the counter of your opponent lane or not....

Hey folks,

We want to clear up our plans for Normal Draft queues in various regions around the world. Earlier today we announced that we've turned off Normal Draft in every region except for NA, EUW, and BR. Specifically, this means turning it off in EUNE, LAS, LAN, TR, and KR. This didn't affect other regions, where the queue was already inactive.

We caused confusion by saying that "in an ideal world" we'd retire Normal Draft in NA, EUW, and BR. We have no current plans to do so. Ultimately, we would like to take the best aspects of both normal queues (position preference from Normal Draft and less hardcore gameplay/speedy champion select from Blind Pick) into a single queue.

In the regions where Normal Draft was disabled, it had very low participation. Our concern going into the launch of Flex is that having many similar queue options will result in a lot of low quality experiences rather than a few good quality ones.

In other regions where we've already turned off Normal Draft, we'll keep listening to your feedback through the preseason as we start to see how the new queues perform and evaluate based on how healthy things are looking. In the end, we'll customize each region's queue system to best support its players.
