In B4 People Lose 1 Game Against Rakan/Xayah and Rant About How OP They Are

Çhåryzård··93 votes·6,835 views

Happens on every new champ release.

And then they proceed to ban that champ every game while preventing themselves from actually learning how to play against that champ

EDIT:** I mean B4 as in "before" to make sure I could fit the whole title but I mean it's probably true either way you look at it**

Because in almost every case, any time a new (not reworked) champion was released, it was nerfed a few weeks after

Camille is still getting nerfed since release

Vexed Hex8 votes

Yeah Camille will be nerf again. Then she will dawn the hat of uselessness like half the roster, same goes for Xayah and any new champ that comes to the game. Why? because no one knows how to adapt and they fear change so they get nerfed until they are no longer a threat. Its the same cycle with this game since for as long as i can remember.

lol it's pretty evident that she needed a nerfed

She was played in 3/5 of the roles in the pro scene..she still is... like common

KONO RUBICK DA9 votes

and still is

100% pick/ban rate in lck with 66% win rate she is still broken, that kit is by definition broken

Arsenic Sulfur2 votes

It's that her unique strength too strong.

Let me tell you about Pokemon for a sec here. Take a look at 3 abilities: Shadow Tag, Magnet Pull, and Arena Trap. All 3 of these abilities prevent the one true out to most situations being GTFO. ALL OF THE POKEMON WHO HAVE IT ARE UU AND ABOVE! Mega Gengar got banned because of it.

Camille has the same strength. She removes one the game's most important aspects being the ability to escape. Unless this strength is removed or the rest of her is incredibly weak she will be good no matter what.

Quinnova3 votes

Wobbuffet, Gothitelle and Probopass have these but are not UU or above

Lunar Silkworm3 votes

Choice Scarf Gothitelle actually saw a lot of use in OU with Calm Mind, Trick, and some offensive moves. She simultaneously functioned as a stall enabler, a revenge-killer, and a stall-breaker because she could kill or cripple a large variety of enemies and set up on them at her leisure. Gothitelle is one of the primary reasons why Shadow Tag as a whole is banned from Smogon OU, which is why Gothitelle isn't played anymore.

As for Wobbuffet, Shadow Tag + Tickle paired with a Pursuit user was a thing for a while, but Wobbuffet was effectively banned to Ubers before the Shadow Tag ban below ubers.

Arena Trap is so generally strong that when Smogon was suspect testing Dugtrio, people started using Diglet and Trapinch for similar success. Yes, pre-evolution pokemon that you wouldn't even look at otherwise just because of Arena Trap.

Magnet Pull became such an ubiquitous staple that Skarmories began to—and in some cases still—run shed shell, as do a few other steel types like Ferrothorn or Celesteela.

I don't really have an opinion on Camille or how accurate this comparison is, but I saw an opportunity to toss some pokemon and took it.

Yalathanil1 votes

Why escape when you can kill her after she blows her ult? In my last game against one, I crushed her in lane (im unranked... and that camile was trash...) with Garen!

Arsenic Sulfur3 votes

You see very few champions can do that, and that is if the player isn't panicking from the fact that they're trapped. Camille often targets either ADCs or people who can't defend themselves. No Camille in their right mind is gonna trap AD Garen.

Xayah isn't even that OP (its debatable on Rakan). I've played against the duo twice so far, and beaten them twice.

In ranked, I can understand banning them, but in normal draft? There really is no reason to ban them. You get experience playing as them, with them, and against them.

lofi n chillhop1 votes

my thoughts exactly. Rakan is actually pretty strong, but Xayah... her range is so low. and she's immobile. I could see her getting nerfed eventually, or even buffed, but I wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't touched before Rakan.

she's got some good things going for her though.

dr lichdeath2 votes

strange in eu its the other way around seen 3 xayah's and they all did shittons of dmg granted they always had a good lulu while i played rakan and he feels.... well to squishy.. it doesnt help that hes actually ranged with a 300 range which feels like melee

... i think its the combo that makes em op especially dat extra range they both get lol

AirKingNeo4 votes

Not even in ranked. No reason to ban them.

notice me Sin pi10 votes

but then my teammates are gonna play the new champs and go 0/8/0 within 10minutes of the game tho if i dont ban them

AirKingNeo3 votes

Then your teammates can just not play them and you won't have to waste a ban. Or, they can play them and YOU STILL WIN.

Of course what would low elo know? They think banning allies out of champions is a great idea!

someone here doesnt understand wood division at all

Of course what would low elo know? They think banning allies out of champions is a great idea!

both correct and wrong. In wood division it's sometimes more beneficial to ban out ally champion if there's a way around it without getting teammates tilted.

Personally i just let my teammates play it if they pick-intent it since banning it carries huge risk of teammates tilting potentially even inting in worse cases. If teammate has no pick-intent, i'll definitely ban out what he is most likely to play: the new released champion. anyone use op.gg to check out teammates' match history during champ select? If teammate has a pick-intent that is not the newly released champion, then I leave it for the enemy team to claim that freelo.

AirKingNeo2 votes

Yeah I happen to be in an ELO where some people know how to play the game.

notice me Sin pi5 votes

checking ur op.gg, our elo difference is literally just 81 LP. I dont believe u. Even the op.gg-provided MMR calculator agrees with me on that our actual elo is pretty much the same.

Segius3 votes

she does too much damage and scales too fast, her range is crazy when she has feathers, her late game is super powerful, there is many reasons to ban her, she is a little strong, needs some minor nerfs

Karfuss7 votes

Frankly, I feel that this is one of the most balanced releases Riot has done in a long while.

Xayah has very clear weaknesses. She's immobile. Her damage comes from a predictable set up. Rakan is merely a hypermobile annoyance. Alone, he can do virtually nothing but run away. His strengths are only present when others are around him.

And rather ironically, despite them supposedly being stronger together, there are better, more natural ADC and Support synergies for both of them.

ForeverLaxx2 votes

They're "stronger together" in the sense that they get special unique snowflake perks for being around each other, but those perks aren't so good that they require each other to passably function.

Worst Kench NA4 votes

They do this in Bronze 3 too.

What's funny is that the title could mean two things: "In Bronze 4, people lose 1 game against Rakan/Xayah and rant about how OP they are", or "In before people lose 1 game against Rakan/Xayah and rant about how OP they are".

inb4 is written as one word to avoid confusions like this by the way

Elikain3 votes

I understand the their bans in Ranked. I mean, how much can a player get experience on them, even if they played on PBE? Let us remind ourselves that PBE is not a valuable source of experience as you may be somewhat familiar with the champion but your opponents weren't even trying.

So essentially, it's a 50-50 chance that they're going to be strong because the enemy doesn't know how to properly respond to them or too weak, if the enemy curbstomps them and they don't know how to recover because "new champs" argument. The proper thing to do, in my case, is to ban them for a few days just to let others feel them out and then release the birds.

Aptest3 votes

Well I lost to Xaya once. my toplane was junk. my mid lane was junk. my jungler was junk. my adc was junk.

This loss had nothing to do with Xaya.

TotalJerk2 votes

I'm not afraid of playing against them. I'm afraid of playing WITH them.

Thilmer2 votes

They are going to get nerfed.

Xaya has a stupid damage because of the feathers, Rakan has a permashield, and they both have too much mobility.

Troll for Trump25 votes

Xayah too much mobility? what?

Kingnewgameplus33 votes

Yeah actually, Xayah has a secret mechanic not mentioned in the patch notes. If you right click on a piece of terrain, you will move towards it using your feet. Challenger Xayah 1 tricks already have a name for this mechanic, called "Walking". And right now there's a glitch where boots and certain other items allow Xayah to "walking" faster.

Velzard of Koz7 votes

What's more broken is that she can use this wild mechanic while ulting. The real money maker.

Elikain2 votes

Walking is a broken mechanic Riot needs to get rid of. So, every champion can slither like Cass and not buy boots or have fins, like Nami. They are perfect examples of champions utilizing the "walking" mechanic properly, without going too deep into OP territory.

OH MY GOD I gotta tell you this one game I had-

We were in champ select and it looked like it was gonna be Lux mid. Me, being the awesome dragon I am, pick the sasstastic Celestial being known as Aurelion Sol. There's one more pick and it turns out it's not Lux mid it's Akali mid and Lux supp. So I'm like well shit son this isn't gonna be much fun.

How wrong I was.

The Akali could barely cs and whenever she was able to get 1 she'd lose about half her health. She was stuck under turret all game and she FINALLY hits 6. She engages all 3 charges of her ult on me and we're right near my turret. I get behind her just enough and ult her into turret killing her and me living with 100 or so health. Next thing in All chat:

"Since when can he throw you?!????!!!!" (me) "Since always? Where have you been." "I've never gone against this OP fucking piece of shit champ."

needless to say we're howling with laughter lol.

OMFG Cookies2 votes

the fact that she picked Akali says how bad she was.

that poor champ i sin the shitter right now

OMFG Cookies2 votes

ehh new champs are new, im hard stuck in plat 5 and will probably ban one of them till a week later just to make sure i dont have the "first time Rakan or Xayah " who then proceeds to feed the enemy yi jungle 14 kills.

OHminus2 votes

Xayah has a high skill floor and Rakan .. well, he's pretty strong. But I see no reason to ban these champs other than to prevent my teammates from playing them in ranked (they would have what - a day of experience so far? Unless they played on the PBE, which is unlikely).

Lucian Waifu2 votes

You always ban new champs in ranked because you should rather want to deal with the variables you know about other than the ones no one knows about. I am Plat 4 and i will ban one of them every game for at least the next week if not the next two. The same went for the galio rework and every new champion before.

I can understand having to ban them in ranked because of the jerks that wanna first time Xayah botlane in a ranked game, but theyre really not worth the consistent banning in norms.

How are people gonna play together and earn those icons if they can't actually play both champs together

NekoniClaws2 votes

Leonasummoner 14 > I thought this would be just a counter. Turns out it was animal cruelty.

Xayah and Rakan seem very easy to counter both gameplaywise and pick wise. Maybe they'll be banworthy once people learn to play them. Big maybe. Right now don't bother, Lucian is still broken.

Morgan le Fey2 votes

While I'm concerned about the potential for solo laners screwing actual supports over by giving Rakan lane gold and making him an AP teamfight monster, a lot of the complaints about being op so far that I've seen have had to do with people simply not knowing anything about the champs. While granted I'm in wood tier, I've played against golds with otherwise solid mechanics who for whatever reason kept flashing into Rakan's W and R. I've only seen one flash out of either ability so far, and I'm not sure it was deliberate: It was a Lee Sin positioning for his R.

But yes, I think they will be nerfed. I just hope the nerfs are gentler, properly-targeted, and more careful than we've seen lately. I'd really hate for Rakan (and Xayah, but I'm a support main, I care about Rakan :P ) to become the next Kindred or Taliyah. There's too much positive potential there, and I really hope I don't spend two weeks learning mechanics only to have them completely changed (rip Tali's burst, W cast style, and self-silence :( ).

Blåbæret1 votes

Sorry, but Xayah is definitely broken. Way too much AoE damage potential.

SexualizeOatmeal2 votes

Honestly, its not the AOE, its the bonus w damage. And she isnt broken from what I have played and seen
