The fact that people are complaining about My Shop is sad
You are getting skins for discounts larger than what you'll ever see on the store and people still find a reason to complain.

It's really sad, but I'm not even surprised. This community complains when they get given something for free.
People complained about free Riot Kayle even.
Really? I was super happy when they gave us riot kayle.
There were a few people. Most were trolls.
hmm figured. Can't understand how people truly complain about such nice free stuff.
It's pretty much human nature.
To be fair though, as one of the people that owned Riot Kayle BEFORE they handed her out it was a stupid thing to do.
I don't play Kayle, but I think a lot of Kayle players that owned that skin were pretty pissed.
You guys got another skin though.
Its not about us getting a skin but that the Riot kayle skin is devalued hugely now since everyone got one. And we didnt even get a border to show we owned it before the giveaway
People who were upset about Riot Kayle are the people who spent A LOT of money to be able to go to the event it was distributed at in the first place. It wasn't free for them.

The reason why people are upset is because the discounts are for champions they frequently play. It's likely that you're already going to own the best skins for those champions already, which forces Your Shop to give you discounts for skins that you don't want. It was an oversight by Riot, to be honest. They should have made Your Shop give you a couple of discounts on champions for which you don't own any skins.
And as for the people who are saying that the players aren't being appreciative of Riot's generosity, they're naive. Riot didn't make Your Shop as a way to give players large discounts on skins. They made Your Shop to make you think you're getting a good deal, especially on skins that you would have probably never bought but are more inclined to purchase because a large number of human beings are impulsive buyers.

Wait what?
Then why do I have a Jax skin (don't even have mastery lvl 4) and a Kha skin on there???
Why do i have jayce, gangplank and heca skins? Three of whom i recently played pretty often... And most of my friends got the same. Let's rather say the chance is higher to get skins for champs you play more often. It's not determined to happen but chances are higher.
When the hell did I play tristana?
Offering a huge discount on things you don't play is pointless though. Out of every my shop i've only ever bought one skin because it was the only time it ever had one for a champion I actually use and it was just now. My shop is cool but why bother giving players discounts that are supposed to be personalized but clearly aren't even close to what they want?
It indeed is pretty random and pointless.
The last time "My Shop" was around I only got one skin for a champion that I played more than 10 times in the past like 2 years. This time around I got all but one champions that I'd consider my favourites and "main" at one point, but... I already had skins for each and every single of them.
People are complaining because they'd prefer offers for skins they actually want
Its simple as that. Why would I give a shit about an 80% discount on a skin I don't even remotely like.
Is there any reason why a customer can not complain about a product offered to them that they dislike or are unsatisfied about?
How can you be unsatisfied when you are getting nothing but positive things from it?
You aren't getting any positives if you get skins you outright do not want. You are actually just getting negatives because it irritates you. I've said this before, but Riot does skin sales to sell more skins as their first priority, pleasing the playerbase takes second. That is how it should be too, if they want to make money.
Note: I find it ridiculous how so many people consider getting discounts to be gaining something. You aren't getting anything at all, even when you fork over the money for things that are worth no real world currency. It even says that they have no value in their Terms of Service, which is why people can't get their skins refunded if their accounts are banned.

They're like the people that go Black Friday shopping, spend $1,000, and then come home saying "we saved $500!!"
No, you spent $1,000, and the company made a profit selling a much larger volume of products for a lower price than normal.
Exactly. You probably got pepper sprayed in the process as well.
Except in the end, you either pay for the product or don't. You're irritated when it doesn't give you what you want, but if it wasn't there then we'd be back to how it was before the shop system was set up: complaining that there isn't a shop system or something like it. You pay for a 2-for-1 meal at a fast food place with a coupon. Sure you're still spending the money to get it, but if you didn't want to get it you wouldn't be spending the money on it in the first place. If you're dissatisfied with the product that's on sale, you can simply not get it. No money lost. If you want to buy it, that's your call and not theirs. Getting a discount is still spending less on the product than normally, so if you didn't get the discount then you'd be spending normal money on it. Simply put: the only reason you're irritated is because you're not getting exactly what you want, but if the shop wasn't there then you (the general population, not you yourself) would be pining for a shop to exist. I find it ridiculous how people consider getting discount is in any way negative, when in reality it's only the customer taking for granted the fact it even has a discount in the first place.
Right, but that doesn't help your original argument at all. I never said the reason why people were irritated, just that it is a negative. Which it still is. The point was, you are not "only getting positive things from it". A customer has the right to accept or decline service, and comment on that service.
You don't go to a store, for example, GameStop, and buy a game for Xbox One for 50% off when you only own a PS4. So why would I buy a skin for a champion I don't play or want a skin for, just because it is discounted? I wouldn't. And that is what most people are complaining about, the skins offered are skins they are not interested in or have no reason to buy. This goes against what even Riot wanted to do, which was to make money off of the customers by providing sales on skins that they wanted to buy. If Riot offered discounts on skins that the customers wanted, there would be no issue in either party.
People want something for stuff they play.
Personally I don't see it as stuff I play, but stuff that can relate to my playstyle.
I once got a Lee skin from the shop. I don't play Lee (still don't, but at least now I have the one skin I like).
They want stuff for what the play yeah, but that doesn't justify getting angry and whining about the free stuff not being what you wanted.
Nothing justifies that.
I can see why people hate when people complain about discounts, but I really hate when people consider discounts to be "free stuff". You are still paying for the skin, the skin is still only pixels on a screen that hold no real world value, as specified by Riot terms of service.
Would a fair reason for complaining be "my discounts are shit but this guy's are 100% better?", because I don't think the issue is with the skins offered, I think its that a lot of people got sub-par offers when others got offers ideal to what they play.
I mean, I dont really care, as im not buying any of them.
But of the 6 skins in my shop, only 1 of the 6 is for a champion ive played in my last 100 or so games. (and of course, its for the lowest discount, so no way im getting it). So there is clearly something off with their algorithm.
That's my previous "My Shop" in a nutshell.

At the time I made this 5 of those champions were used in less than 5 matches in a year. Guess which one had 150 games in merely half a season.
??? I only got one discount that was "larger than what I'd ever see in stores" and it was for a champion I don't even play????
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I've often had my shop filled with nothing but crap, and the few skins I might want end up with 40% discounts which are worse prices than you get from normal skin sales.
I did well this time, but I do think it's a stupid system that ends up being very unexciting for a lot of players a lot of the time.
That's quite naive of you. The point of "My Shop" is to entice people to spend RP on skins, rather than out of the kindness on Rito's part.
People are complaining since they'd prefer to get deals on other skins.
Alright, alright.
Thanks for nothing Riot, is it good now?
I don't think its really complaining.
Its more like "Shitty, Can't spend cash because I have no interest in what they offer"
Sales do not matter if it's for a product you're not even interested in. It's not like these skins are free either. The purpose of this shop is to encourage others into buying something they might not have otherwise. Having it contain skins someone doesn't want is counter productive to that goal.
I am just mad because I thought that I will get my highest mastery champs, not champs I played in last 2 days. I should have spammed my mains for a week then open the shop. But I will still buy plenty of stuff, thanks RITO , more of this and less of those scam boxes (except project boxes those were worth as fuck) !!!!
This post doesn't really have to do with the Gameplay section which is about in-game gameplay, not the store in the Client. This topic is better suited for Miscellaneous. Feel free to recreate it there.
gaming communities get pretty entitled. LoL's is terrible. People extensively complain about hextech not being enough. EDIT: I'm not talking about the chest/key imbalances.
Discounts are based on what you played recently atleast a couple of times
Its really likely you already have skins on those champions If there were a soft filter
Atleast discount for 2 champions on whom you dont have skins (Not counting free twitter/facebook etc skins)
Lies. I got 70% on a Cass skin, Siren Cass, I haven't played her in a long time, it's 156 RP with the discount, I also got project fiora and galaxy kindred, unfortunately, I have no RP and no real money so my shop is gonna be a waste for me :/. If someone would gift me the 5$ bundle I'd at least get two of those xD.
It counts normal games aram games etc
Maybe you played cass on an aram
My shop is great.
i was just a lil salty that debonair jayce was 70% off when i dont even play jayce but dreadnova gp was only 20% and there was no morde skin so feelsbad. I bought 4 of the skins tho
This is the first year it wasn't bugged for me. Every year they have done it, I got random champions. I just assumed that was how it was supposed to work.
Well I mean... I'm not complaining but...
Deep Terror Thresh : Already got Championship AND bloodmoon... Wild Card Shaco : Already got Royal, Mad Hatter and Masked... Infernal Alistar : Only got golden, this one is ok even if I don't play Alistar :) Star Guardian Janna : I literally hate Janna and already got Forecast so yeah... Hextech Galio : Hemmmm i've only played Galio once? hahaha Dragon Trainer Lulu : Already got Winter Wonder, can't really get better than that...
So like I said, i'm not complaining, just really sad that I got a really shitty shop personnally [zombie-nunu-tears]
See idk if this was a bug or intended but when I first opened my shop i got some skins for champs I havent played in seasons or that I didnt even own. Logged off and the next day went back on and when I opened the shop again lets just say I got 4-5 skins for 10$
Meh I understand it, personally the most irritating thing is that my shop is tone deaf
Back when I was playing nothing but skarner when I was jungle, didn't have a skarner skin, and actually WANTED a skarner skin. I got nothing. I don't typically buy skins for champ if I already own one for them (few exceptions for amazing skins), and my shop is full of skins for champs that I already have skins for. Like if I play the champ a ton, odds are I have a skin for them I like. Offer me something in the class for a champ I don't have a skin for.
Getting nothing you want remotely feels really shitty when you see people with fantastic stuff in their shop
I've only seen people complain it's not working, are people really complaining about the prices?
