seriously he's so incredibly toxic it's not even funny. i just pulled him in game, and all he had to do was freeze lane, last hit, and go and toss a q at me to completely take me out of the laning phase. his damage is so incredibly high for such a cheese kit. why give him so much damage and give him all undodgeable spells? please nerf this freelo button mash champion.
Robins Tights5 votesYou are using the word "Toxic" incorrectly. Nothing about Ryze is inherently bad for the game that it will deter millions of players from an enjoyable experience. He has counters. Hell, Vlad/Swain/Riven/Singed/Galio/Mao'Kai/Nocturne/Viktor/Cassiopeia/Mordekaiser can do pretty well against him and go toplane. Though he has a snare, he has no escape otherwise, it should be pretty simple to take him on until late game.

Eh... I don't know about a lot of skill. I mean, the champion doesn't have a single skill-shot, you just hover your mouse over somebody and mash your combo... it's impossible to miss anything.
IMO, they should make at least one of his skills a skillshot, probably Rune Prison.

that wouldn't be a problem if he wasn't so incredibly strong after he gets some mana. the guy hardly has to build ap items and can just build tanky mana items and still be a massive nuisance. Why hasn't riot addressed this?

nahh he warrants some nerfs probably something similar with annie where they nerf his base damages and buff his scaling to really tone down his early game.
Drunk Rummate1 votesi usually just pick riven into ryze. you have ridiculous kill pressure on him with her, you can make it really difficult for him to farm and stack his tear. she also scales about as well as he does into late game. he certainly can't split against her.
vlad, maokai, and irelia are also very good picks into ryze if you dont like riven.

It's a very simple matchup really. You go to lane with a longsword and 3 potions. Ryze can't really kill you he can just harass you so you don't need the dorans blade and you can't spend much time autoing the minion wave for sustain anyways.
Start with your shield or he will beat you level 1 with minion help. Use the brush to your advantage. You just walk up and take last hits and if you see his Q animation you you E to avoid the harass. You can get the melee cs easy but he may be able to deny a couple casters in the first wave. After you have level 2 you can all in him any time he gets close enough to Q you and back off, just make sure his minion wave isn't too large. You'll take a fair amount of damage but with 3 potions you'll heal up and outsustain his 2 biscuits since you do more damage in heavy trades. General rule I use is that you shouldn't go on Ryze unless he has 3 or fewer minions to help fight.
Come back to lane with a brutalizer or pickaxe and pots and collect your free kill at level 6. No ignite necessary. You should have TP. Post 6 Ryze can't fight you, he's extremely weak until he has his ROA stacked. By then you should have the advantage necessary to beat him anyways.
