promos are the DUMBEST THING
i go on a 6 ranked win streak, and as soon as i get into promos i get bombarded with trolls. cool riot. keep thjis shit system.

Thought you said poros were the dumbest thing. Was gonna tell you that you were the dumbest thing.
all poros are equal, Mecha poros lives matter
All poros are equal.
They're all about 320 calories each.
You got to promo, because enemy team had what you call trolls.
Still means the system is bad. It works from pure dumb luck
Still means the system is bad. It works from pure dumb luck
What I don't like is it picks an arbitrary amount of matches (Best 2 of 3 or best 3 of 5) then disproportionately weighs them more than every other match (Since they single handedly dictate whether you can be promoted or not).
The result is a factor of luck in a game of skill. You need a spree of several games in a row without any afks/trolls to be promoted. Ranked promotions shouldn't rely on having a winning spree at a crucial point. It should be about how consistently better you are than your opponents at that level. It SHOULDN'T BE about getting dealt a bad hand at a crucial moment that the system chose.
My experience exemplifies this. I won 30+ LP per match consistently in Silver V, but then lost my promos due to afks/trolls. However, when I DID win my promos, I skipped a division, meaning the system clearly realized I didn't belong there. However, because I lost two matches that it disproportionately weighed more than my previous matches, I didn't get promoted.
That is incredibly stupid and just wasted my time. The system knew full well I didn't belong there. Why force me through a ridiculous system? Put me where I belong.
Yeah, I am of the same opinion.
I can easily get into my Promo's for Silver 2, but I have lost them 8 times consecutively. Each time I win the first game, then lose the next two due to angry or just plain bad players. I'll then win the next game and go straight back into my promos. It's incredibly frustrating.
suggestion do ur first game win it go get yourself some good karma do some sport play some normals be positive help a random old grannie get back play another ranked game and win it tada ur silver 2
KARMMA MATTERS
Can you think up a system that doesn't work off pure dumb luck? I'm genuinely curious; I can't think anything up.
yeah, it's called mmr. think of starcraft 2, make a season however many weeks long and you get promoted if you played well over that season. you drop if played like trash, and you stay the same if you were normal. rito will never do this because they want the players to play in the same "season" as the pros i guess. probably their current system is to promote pro league of legends therefore to get more money. or you can just get rid of tiers altogether and base it off mmr. but people like their gold, diamond, challenger borders and bullshit, so who knows
MMR is used in hidden context with our rank- our rank is simply MMR put in shining armor to brag about. The only problem is that 1. its a team game where most people dont play with teams and 2. promos require 66% win rate to rank up in a course of 3 games, when in reality it should only be 51% to keep ranking up. People can have 52-53% win rate and still lose LP/ stay near the same.
I always wonder when I see these threads, what do people want instead? Just the current system but easier to climb? I highly doubt most people complaining about promos would like a straight elo system like the first few seasons had. So what would you suggest?
To be promoted when hitting 100 points is pretty much the general consensus. It shouldn't involve matches that still affect your LP, you should just get promoted.
Without dropping when you lose at 0 LP or dropping the same way you promote? I mean if you promote w/ a win at 100LP and demote w/ a loss at 0LP or promote/demote when you cross it (like winning at 96 LP, or losing at 5 LP), then why not just have a straight ELO system? However, I'm just saying that tons of people complained about the straight ELO system in the past, so I doubt it would be better.
No, you drop if you go below 0, and you are promoted when you go above 100. Tada! Balanced and without bullshit.
Yeah is be fine with that I suppose, but it was complained about a ton when the system worked like that so I dunno.
Personally I like having some safety at new tiers. Having promos from 5 to 2 makes it seem less brutal to have to do promos from 1 to 5, and personally I love the security you get at X 5. Being able to play at a new tier and not worry I'm gonnadrop back down immediately is a huge comfort to me when I play ranked. I'm not plat level for absolute sure, so why would I risk dropping from gold and losing end of season rewards instead of just playing a second account and going back if I get far ahead of the first account on the second and am sureI can carry games in gold and not risk losing my season rewards if I go on a tilt streak and play bad.
You got to promo, because enemy team had what you call trolls.
the only troll i've ever seen on the enemy team was the trolling on-hit bard jungle then i get the FUCKING LE BLANC SUPPORTS
LB support wasn't that bad back when she had a silence. Haven't tried her since.

now its what people do when hey get last pick
And that's why I . . . A) Don't play ranked. A 1/2) Don't play draft (all the ranked rejects have made it toxic as F.) B) always fill C) Main support 4) ??? G) Profit.
how are you profiting if youre playing norms lol
Sanity, my friend. Sanity.
in my experience ranked is less toxic than blind pick. team builder is a pretty legit form for normals, but I play ranked mostly bc I'm not down for long que times.
I main support. Most of my duo partners are ADC's or Junglers.
I don't have a problem with queue times in team builder. XD
Yeah I have a friend who is a support main and since I'm not a huge fan of normals bc my normals mmr is so much lower than my ranked, I just play heimer bot instead of adc usually bc it is funny when people talk shit about it and then you do well. Lol. I'm definitely a fan of tb but I think I'm just not used to it and shy away because people talk up the long wait time and it wasn't around back when I played normals much.
I hate promo series. It's just Riot's way to knowing when to troll you.
Ayy. Story of my life:
Story of my life:
(Currently G1 again, with a starting loosing streak, don't even dare to look at the "Solo QQ"- Button)

I failed my promos twice due to trolls/afks, passed it the third time then skipped two divisions.
Go figure -__________--.

I failed my promos 5 times in a row due to trolls/afks, passed it the 6th time, only to get demoted 3 games later because of another troll/afk

Rather than jump on the complain hype-train, I'd like to suggest something and see what everyone else thinks...
Instead of a promotion series, what about an 'MMR-monitoring event'.
When you cross the MMR threshhold between divisions, you will be monitored by the system over the next 3 games. If you stay above that MMR threshold over all 3 games, then you promote.
This way, if you are way ahead of your current placement, then it is possible to lose 2 of the 3 games but still get promoted, as long as your MMR is still high enough after those 2 losses.
Someone put salt in his cereal this morning.
In my experience, unless you're at an MMR much lower than your skill level (ex. You're Bronze 2, but steadily held gold MMR last season), don't bother trying to climb so relentlessly. It just makes ranked a stressful ordeal where you'll be on tilt and not thinking clearly.
I find myself winning Ranked matches more frequently when I'm practing in normal matches, honing my skill and knowledge of a champion or role. I have a set ratio, 20 normal games for every 1 ranked game. This lets me practice and have a cool head for when it's time to focus.
While there's definitely something to be said for the somewhat evil nature of trolls, AFKers and trolls, I think you'll find your climb in ranked to be a lot less stressful and a lot easier if you treat it like an enhanced normal match and simply prepare yourself by copious normal matches. You want to feel like you know and are capable of absolutely everything about the role and champion you're going to be playing, and you can get that through Normal matches.
Best of luck climbing,
Kicking
Coming to the forums and complaining about losing your promos isn't going to help you win them the next time. Trolls are a part of league you just have to deal with them and don't feed them what they want. If your not winning your promos its because your not good enough to carry your team. Yes there is the possible exception of afk's and what not but still you have to work your way past it. If you really don't belong in the elo you are in you will climb with ease, I used to think the same way you did until I just stopped stressing so much about rank and focused on getting better and by the week I had climbed 3 divisions carrying most of my games on riven so obviously it isn't luck.
This was a great post right up until the end there.
Next you'll be bragging about your Master Yi penta.
In my experience, the only people who complain about the ranked system are the people who are incapable of climbing. people do it everyday, even with afk's and trolls, so stop trying to blame the system and focus on getting better on your own op
The player base is 27 million plus. You are saying about half that are incapable of climbing. That includes some golds. Everyone is a crybaby?
How much i agree with this is sad, as being a bronze player i have worked my hardest to get better at the game since i did my promos when i hit 30 (about 6 months ago) and i have spammed normals to get better as a player moving my wins up by more than 150 and i thought i was finally good enough to apply to get out of bronze, oh boy was i wrong. The system is flawed i can win that many normals and realize that i myself am a better player and i do better in ranked but i still get matched with players who haven't tried to get better.... just saying that i think we should get a better system it's awful trying to climb when you can win 6 games but then lose 20 because people didn't want to improve or they just wanted to troll and afk like nice people. We need a system like CS:GO where we have a warmup then if people aren't there then they get a suspension and we get out of that queue and thrown into another one, it's just better for us and only an easy thing for you guys to do... sorry if this was a rant i just really hate the ranked system in this game..

As much as your post is honest and heartfelt, I have to say that if you lose 20 games in a row in Bronze, you definitely belong in Bronze.
I appreciate your efforts in trying to get better as a player. You definitely see more in this game than your teammates. Keep trying, keep practicing ( I advise play in Ranked, not normals, normals are nothing like ranked). Watch videos on how to get better, watch streams, mine is twitch.tv/xlessthanthree I will be streaming tonight at 7pm EST and my acc is in Silver, I'll try to show you that climbing is very much possible even with "trolls" on your team.
I believe you can rise, but you need to give it time and realize it's all on YOU, not your teammates. Some games are plain unwinnable, but MOST are winnable. If you're losing more than winning in bronze, it's on you.
Played normals for a bit. Had a nice win streak going on. Went to ranked, won one, get put into promos. Say "prefer ADC"
"duo bot."
Ok, I can jg.
First pick takes jg without a word. Really?
Well.... I can mid, too.
Second pick takes mid. Not a word.
Me: "I don't top. I suck at top." So I click to dodge because team is not a team, just a bunch of selfish pricks. Get "You will be given an automatic loss if you dodge in promos" message. FFFFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU
Pick Nasus because we have no tanks yet. Get counter picked by Vayne. le sigh.
Mid flames me constantly for doing poorly despite her feeding the crap out of Yasuo. We lose game in about 22 minutes.
Post game team cries about how much I suck. My response: "Told you I don't top. You should have let me do something I'm good at instead of not caring enough to even talk in champ select." Response: "If you can't play all roles, don't play ranked."
Get rid of promos. They're pointless and stupid.
Promos are absolutely wack. They literally ALWAYS give you the worst players in the game. I have not gone 1 promo without an afk/troll or someone who thinks we wont win no matter what you say to them.
How i got out of promos? I stuck to jg'ing lol cause that is the only way to carry an entire team.
LoL this season:
Go from Bronze 5 to Bronze 3 (winning 2 promos in a row) Get trolls and go back to Bronze 5 Advance to Bronze 4 Get trolled in my series to Bronze 3 (lost 0-2) Then get demoted again to Bronze 5 Then have to go through the Bronze 4 promos again, this team winning 2-0 despite some trolls Then get demoted again to Bronze 5 Then have to go through the Bronze 4 promos again Then finally reach Bronze 3... but wait... TROLLS AGAIN, lose 6 in a row and fall back to Bronze 4 Then get promoted to Bronze 3 again... but wait... TROLLS AGAIN, lose 8 in a row Bronze 4 again, and I quit at this point, because this is just annoying.
So I played... 4 promotion series to get to Bronze 3 (3-1) 4 promotion series to get to Bronze 4 (4-0)
IMO, promos should not be removed, but if you've won a series already, you should be automatically promoted after hitting 100 LP. Because especially now that school is out for the students, the number of trolls has increased dramatically. So I'm just going back and forth/up and down now and it's annoying to have to play through the same series over and over (despite me being 7-1 in promotion series this year, I had lots of trolls in them.). My friends (in Bronze) say they are getting the same thing too. They are going up and down and it's because they get trolls and get demoted immediately in the next division.
At least remove the division series for Bronze if anything, since Bronze is being camped by trolls right now.
People in Bronze are so bad that an average player should even bei able to win 4v5. I'm playing this game since 6 months or so and still i couldn't manage to lose more than 2 out of 10 games in Bronze, it was just too hard lol. If you desire to climb, getting demoted doesn't make much of a difference as long as you win more than you lose. Your MMR still increases which makes it possible for you to climb in the long run.
You are the ELO you are at because you belong there. 4v5's are possible. 4v6 are possible at lower ELOs.
But let's be honest, those don't happen THAT often. I feel you in some ways, since D5 is troll city, but let's be honest. If you were good enough you would climb.
I beg to differ about the frequency of 4v5. For the last 2 weeks 40% of my games have had AFK's and I'm in Silver 1. Supports have the hardest time climbing because their performance depends on your whole team. If your teammates don't follow up on you, or feed in the laning phase, you're screwed both gold wise, and pressure wise, and the funny thing is, unless you leave your adc and roam, you cant do anything about it other than ward river and hope that the jg can get to those lanes soon. I find support to have the hardest time in ranked because of how little power you get when it comes to your team fighting. Sure this sounds absurd considering this is the point of most supports, but you can heal, use mikeals, shield, initiate all you want, the team fight is dependent on your teammates following up and doing damage.
Now I do admit that some 4v5 are possible. Ive won about 6 as of right now, but the game becomes so stressful that its more about how much pressure you can take instead of the kind of skill that ranked is meant for. I can't explain what i just said very well, but what I mean is that ranked is meant to test your 5v5, not your 4v5. AFK's aren't excusable whatsoever. Numerous professionals have admitted that ranked isn't a representation of skill. A person with 1000+ games in silver is obviously more skilled than someone who started ranked at 30 and is silver. Why are they the same rank? Because of things outside of their control, like trolls and AFK's. Don't be so ignorant when it comes to ranked, sure after hundreds of games your skill level will start to even out and you will find your true rank but that doesn't mean that the common ranked BS is excusable by any means.
