Braum vs. Yasuo

On the topic of their blocking abilities, riddle me this:

Why does the champion with high mobility and damage have the better blocking ability than the tanky support who doesn't quite match the CC of a vanguard? I had this question back when Braum was first released, too.

But now it's not, "why is Braum's weaker?" but "Why is Yasuo's stronger?" There is no reason Yasuo's should entirely negate attacks from all directions, allowing him and allies to stand inside it or dash back and forth through it. Braum's is far more balanced in terms of the ability to play around it thanks to its one-directional blocking and the fact he still takes 70-60% of the damage from abilities that hit it, even with its shorter cooldown. This allows for them to better adjust the strength of his other abilities. They can't do that very well for Yasuo because there's the ever-present fact he has one of the top 5 strongest utility/defensive abilities in the entire game.

His should only block in one direction, even if they keep in the fact the ability begins before the animation starts. Then they'd have more wiggle room to adjust his other abilities.

There was a board thread a long long time ago that once stated yasuo, "literally whips an invincible wall of wind out of his ass" In other words it doesn't even cost him mana. Why doesnt the wall have like hp or something dude... the fk is up with that thing.

Because Yasuo defense is stationary and trades any personal invulnerability window in order to have such a team wide defense.

Not to mention that Braum kit is so that you can't just melee into him like you can do into a Yasuo Windwall.

He shouldn't have an invulnerability window of 4 seconds from all projectiles. Other similar champions don't have that at all, and the closest ones lack Yasuo's mobility.

I'm a fan of Yasuo, always have been. But I can recognize that he should not have that W. It belongs to Janna, if anything.

Man, the other "melee carry" characters like Fiora, Tryndamere and Yi all have personal invulnerability windows that can block far more things but are limited to themselves and also bound to other strong mechanics.

Honestly it would be too powerful only if it blocked all ranged things, being limited to projectiles is more than fine because is a bypassable defense.

You answered your own question derp. WHY does a squishy need a better shield than a tank? hmm maybe so he doesn't get one hit. Braum will eat a lot of damage, Yasuo can't.

How much does mobility mean when auto locked on Jinx is auto attacking you into the ground?

Considering you just press q to knock her up and R to teleport all the way to her..if she is auto attacking you without your tornado up/being prepared then you are caught out of position...not saying that you cant use your windwall as a free get out of jail free.(which doesn't stop you from getting oneshot infact it makes jinx useless for those few seconds)

A lot, since you can stay on one side of the wall either way. But allowing him to go back and forth, blocking from both sides, is just ridiculous. Since Jinx is nothing but projectiles, the wind wall is effectively a Kayle ult with twice the duration and a quarter the cooldown against Jinx.

If he were a squishy support that would make sense, as he'd need it to keep allies alive because he's doesn't kill the enemies. As a damage dealer, that is not the case.

braum can move his wall and cast it mid-jump. the walls serve different purposes.

The Ecdysiast2 votes

So can Yasuo. And no, they don't serve different purposes. It's just that Yasuo's is far more effective.

show me a yasuo repositioning his wall to absorb an entire culling aimed at his teammate lmao

If you ult or keep autoattacking when enemy Yasuo has windwall up, you literally deserve to not do damage to him. Just bait out his windwall. Windwall cooldown around 20-25 seconds. That means you have over 15 seconds to kill him where he has no windwall. Most teamfights doesn't last more than 15 seconds anyways. So I don't see the problem? Without his Windwall he would be absolutely useless. It's a reason why Yasuo looses so many matchups toplane, cause his windwall doesn't matter there most of the time.
