Fiora's passive and Ultimate are missing one important change

The critical points should be set relative to the direction the enemy is facing. It doesn't make sense gameplay-wise or thematically that they're just points on the ground that follow the player.

Other examples of such abilities would be Shaco and Casseiopia.

It's strange there are people who think that just because it's possible to change direction on a dime in this game, that it's at all easy. If that were true then Cass and Shaco would be the hardest characters in the game. Remember you have to either click reasonably far from your character to make sure it registers the direction (and so they start walking) or be incredibly good at clicking a direction right next to your character.

I'm not suggesting the vitals be any smaller. In fact, they could could decrease the number to 3 and increase the size of each to adjust for this if it's too easy for better players to do. But it would provide counterplay aside from standing with the vital to a wall and losing farm to reset it.

So if you dash to get a vital, they can just do one click to face the other way to deny the proc? Seems too easy to counter. If they did that, they'd have to balance her by letting her w always stun so you have a fair shot at getting a vital.

This is one of the most nonsensical and shittiest ideas I have ever heard.

Well, I'd care about your opinion, but you've given no reason to back it up.

Why did you capitalize the word ultimate in the title?

The Ecdysiast1 votes

'cause I can't bold or italicize titles.

Took me a second to figure out what you meant. Let me make sure I understand correctly:

You're proposing that if I'm "facing" Fiora and a weak point pops up on my "right" side, then if I turn away from her, the point should stay on the same side of the actual character model?

I don't know if its the specific reason why they wouldn't but I know that Riot has said before that they don't like face-dependent abilities. One example was the DotA character that has like a spike shield (I don't know the Heroes, sorry), who takes less damage from behind. Because League is set up where you can instantly change directions without delay, it could potentially be abused. Imagine someone taking less damage from the back - you could micro (or potentially script) so you turn away just long enough to soften attacks from that side.

To put it in Fiora context, every time you lunge for my right side, I could change facing so that you can't hit it. I won't be able to avoid it every time - I'll have to face you to attack and it'd be open, but it goes from "interesting counterplay" to "really tedious micro focus"

And that doesn't even get into issues with turning in degrees, if you're facing a weird angle, instead of just having it on the main 4 directions.

Like Shaco or Casseiopia, the actual mechanic behind changing direction will balance out the ability. Same reason newer Riven players can't wall-hop and/or she's never seen play in worlds. Even though it's possible to completely change direction in one click, doesn't mean it's reasonable to assume it can be done regularly.

You don't see people missing Cass's ult every single time or timing a turnaround just right so they don't stop running away but also reduce the damage on Shaco's E.

The fact that every single melee champion will have no choice but to face her at some point is one good reason this would work. And she's already mostly screwed against ranged champions anyway, so this would make little difference.

As it stands, for a melee champion there's no interesting counterplay to stay with the vital against a wall, or leave her vision, lose farm, and hope the new vital isn't the one facing her.

Do you know how hard that would be to code?

not hard considering Shaco can backstab

but i think it would be just confusing gameplay wise and feel too random sometimes and could be countered too easy.

Too easy to counter. It's already reasonable to counter since you can walk out of her vision and it changes where the vital is.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

You can walk out of her vision and hope it appears only on the vital facing away from her. And lose farm in the process.

It will always go to the opposite side if you run out of range. You don't have to hope it appears on the back side. You have to position yourself in lane so that she works for the vital rather than it being given to her. You shouldn't be missing very much farm for running out of range. Everytime I face her I never miss very much cs if any for trying to change the vital. I think the fact that you can run out of vision and change the vital placement is pretty hard for her to deal with.

So...remove the wall hiding counterplay?

Hell no.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Remove the wall hiding necessity in exchange for actual counterplay. There's nothing fair about either taking a chunk of true damage or forcing yourself against a wall away from the minions.
