Why does Kassadin get Rod of Ages first instead of Archangel's Staff?
Same question goes to other AP champs. Like why does Swain not get Hextech GLP or Hextech Protobelt? Why do those items seem to be avoided?

The Ecdysiast1 votesFor RoA over Archangel's, it's because the champions who need the mana are usually fine without the CDR but need the extra health because they're short range and easy to poke. And if you're going to buy RoA, then you buy it as soon as possible so you can get the stacks. Then, already having that mana from RoA makes the archangel's purchase more efficient.
GLP doesn't have the needed HP and protobelt doesn't have the needed mana.
