If there was one change I'd ever make to yasuo, it'd be a very simple one

HateDaddy··45 votes·3,294 views

Give his ult an actual cooldown, say 100-120 seconds at level 1 and let it massively scale down to like 40-50 seconds rank 3.

Yasuo is frustrating to face in lane, his teamfight is totally fine in my opinion. I like that he's forced to interact if he wants to maintain durability, I like that he has tools to get in and out of a fight so he doesn't engage only to not kill his opponent and get pummeled into submission from range as he retreats. Yasuo has a very interesting kit, it might be frustrating to fight but I get it.

To me, the biggest abusive part of his kit is that he can basically use his ult to simply harass you. It's not unreliable in lane when he can simple charge his tornado and E to you through minions and melee you with it and have his free knock up. This is especially frustrating in top lane and it's why I think a good start to tuning him down a little without destroying his base stats is to focus on his lack of cooldowns. I'd focus on his ult CD and probably how often he can charge his tornado, because it gets beyond ridiculous how he can ult you 2-3 times in the span of 4 minutes. It's a lot of hidden power too since he gains bonus armor pen from it, so it makes itemizing vs him incredibly difficult for the lane phase.

For reference, his level 1 ult CD IS 80 seconds, which is obscenely low for a level 1 ult CD as powerful as his.

Give yasuo mana.

GG too easy.

Kingnewgameplus20 votes

Idk about you, but the thought of muramana yasuo q's fucking terrify's me.

CeexSett4 votes

No.

Two of his most important spells are super low cooldown. Unless you wanted them to have a 20 mana cost.

LankPants9 votes

No, he should have real costs to using his abilities. There's no reason why he should be able to spam his Q on CD like a braindead monkey for 5 minutes straight with literally no cost.

Ackelope2 votes

All of his spells are extremely mediocre in terms of power, unless you chain them together properly and continually hit them. That's why they don't have a cost. The only reason Yasuo tends to do so much damage is because of his crit passive, allowing him to get extreme amounts of crit chance super early in the game, and since he does so much spellcasting and auto attacking, he can also take big advantage of sheen procs as well. If he had mana he'd be pretty mediocre, since he casts his spells so damn frequently, unless the mana costs were relatively trivial, as the guy you responded to suggested.

his w is mediocre in power said no one ever

Imagine a mini Braum shield. On an AD assassin.

Ackelope2 votes

His W is not mediocre in power, which is exactly why its cooldown is like 20 seconds, sorry I forgot to mention that. His low cooldown abilities are terrible by themselves, only combos and constantly spamming them makes them good is what i'm saying,

JnFnRu4 votes

His q should have a cd before being able to be stacked again imo.

Best change would be to have him only ult from his own q not allies, make him not just press R halfway across baron pit.

CeexSett2 votes

You wish his abilities to cost mana? Unless the Q and E cooldown are 20 mana each, it's not happening.

And he would have to be buffed in other aspects, and I don't think anyone likes Yasuo when he is STRONG.

Imperial Japan2 votes

after seeing hundreds of brainless posts like these, it'll be hard for anyone not to get sensitive.

Diananmen Square8 votes

I don't know what is with the hate on Yasuo, he is not OP at all. Riot shouldn't nerf a champion just because you can't play against it. It's really easy to counter a Yasuo. (Now I get downvoted to oblivion.)

Imperial Japan2 votes

Some people just can't function their minds as well.. Although the OP actually has a nerf that isn't as brainless as "give him mana costs"

Diananmen Square4 votes

tbh all you have to do against Yasuo is literally CC him in teamfights and poke him in lane.

MuffledGarbage3 votes

But that's any diver-assassin champion.

Not to mention his shield passive blocks CC if he is hit.

Poking him is hard due to his passive which negates damage. AND windwall even with it's 25 second cooldown

I agree Yasuo isn't OP however fighting against a Yasuo isn't ever FUN. Most of Yasuo's moves unfortunately have little to no counterplay for an enemy which is the point of this thread to add his ult to some counterplay by making early levels harder to get the ult up and having it scale down to 40 seconds.

literally CC him

As opposed to figuratively CC him...

Enloct2 votes

Because he's autowin vs half the roster and autoloss vs the other half. He's mechanically difficult, but still completely braindead. He ruins your teamcomp singlehandedly if you don't build the whole team around him.

Those are all good reasons to hate his shit design.

Diananmen Square4 votes

He is not autowin / autoloss, they're just skill matchups, like any other champion. There is never a 100% counter, they just make it harder to win, not impossible.

Also, you can hate on a champion, but that does NOT mean he needs nerfs. Balacing is around power, not hate/frustration 90% of the time.

Left Hook Larry5 votes

Lmfao how is he an autowin against half the roster? Who does he autowin against really? I've seen people not only in my games, but in pro play get shit on playing Yasuo into a champ he "beats"

I remember UOL mid lane picked Yasuo this split against Vlad because Yasuo "autowin." HE got shit on. This is in pro play.

But yeah he is an auto win lmfao.

Those are all good reasons to hate his shit design.

i mean you can't really talk shit about Yasuo being a "shit design" when you main champs like Swain, Rengar, and Olaf

Enloct1 votes

One time one thing happened doesn't mean anything.

Yas hard counters far more champions than any other despite Riot claiming they don't like hard counters. He's so binary in who he can fight it is horrendous design.

And yes, I can talk about shit design because I don't play champion's based on how well designed they are. I fucking picked up Rengar _because _ he's a bad design. Fair champions aren't viable right now, which is why S6 blows.

[{quoted}](name=Kindred or Tilt,realm=EUW,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=wffAAm7b,comment-id=000a00010000,timestamp=2016-07-07T14:10:37.880+0000)

I totally agree. They did it to rammus, talon, ez, zed, and now irelia. Its definitely time for them to bring down the nerf hammer on Yasuo.

Ahri ulti as well and if we talk about junglers Warwick Nautilus

edit: what i'm saying is ahri HAD an ulti cd nerf SAME FOR WARWICK AND NAUTILUS

NineTailedMystic3 votes

If Ahri needs an ult nerf (110/95/80 are live values), then Lux does too (80/65/50 are current live values). She uses it to wave clear. SHE USES HER ULT. TO WAVE CLEAR.

Or maybe Annie since Tibbers cooldown starts when he is summoned, not dies, so her CD of 120/100/80 is more like 75/55/35 since he's on the field for 45 seconds?

Abyssphere3 votes

The cooldown on the initial burst of Tibbers is still 120/100/80, though, and given that's the most impactful part of the spell I think that's worth taking into account. If Tibbers was just the summon then I think 75/55/35 would be a very reasonable cooldown, if not too long.

Lux's ult is a weird topic because there's a few factors going into her using it for waveclear. First one is the low cooldown, second is the fact that it's amazing at clearing waves, third is that her waveclear without it struggles to keep up with other mid laners, and fourth is that her ult isn't that impactful a spell to her anyway so she can afford to not have it up at all times. You'd never see a Liss using her ult for waveclear because she'd be super unsafe and lose all her kill pressure without it, but Lux ult doesn't do anything to discourage ganks and she still has all her CC for making picks without it.

Ahri ult cooldown is fine as is, imo.

Great Fox2 votes

Anivia also uses her ult to wave clear, do you think that's broken too?

Sassmast3r5 votes

Hm, well this would help, but for me what's even more frustrating is how bonehead easy and straightforward his mobility is. You click E, you get there, you do damage to the thing you E'd, and you can use it again so long as it's not on the same target. No price, but also no skill. In fact, the only challenging aspect of it is making sure you don't E someone too soon that you can't E them at a time where you need to in order to finish them off.

In fact, his whole kit just flat out needs to be reworked. I can't think of one facet of his kit that isn't infuriating to deal with. His W - costless and singlehandedly destroys the one class of champions that he's more than likely (or at least supposed to be fighting) in mid lane - mages. His passive literally is 2x crit chance, which means he doesn't have to put anywhere near as much effort as everyone else does into getting something invaluable as 100% crit chance. His ultimate not only has a low cooldown, but once you hit someone with that third Q (and don't try and tell me there's a single Yasuo player who doesn't abuse this), you can wait a solid 2-3 seconds until that person has already touched the ground and shouldn't qualify as being airborne... and THEN use the ultimate.

Every facet of this champions kit is flawed and needs massive changes for it to feel even slightly fair or interesting to fight versus. Until then I see no reason not to ban him in normals lol.

Papa Slothy2 votes

his w can be played around and has a crazy high cooldown, the duration of being in the air is 1 second (you can only fit 1 auto in their maybe a q) and his passive is just there to make him a better skirmisher, which the build with the highest winrate right now (frozen force) has 0% crit

Spoofghoul4 votes

I dont care too much about the ult cooldown at rank 1

its that it gets so retardedly low later on just because and he dont even need cdr for it, but even so i can live with that.

it also gives 50% armorpen like wtf free crits free armorpen and free hp (shields) he gets so much free stats out the ass its unbelievable

for me id start nerving the armorpen to 30%

And increasing the charge time for his shield right now it works like this

Resolve: Yasuo generates 1% of his maximum Flow for every 59 / 52 / 46 units he travels by any means, requiring a total of 5900 / 5200 / 4600 units travelled to obtain maximum Flow. At maximum Flow, the next instance of champion or monster damage against Yasuo consumes all of his Flow and shields him for 100 - 510 (based on level) damage for up to 1 second. (source: http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Yasuo)

I would change it to 70/60/50 meaning he needs to travel 7000/6000/5000 units to charge up the shield.

This should at least remove some of the ''hidden'' power i mean we all know he has these things but taking down some of the ''free stats out of the ass'' should help make him less frustrating without changing him too much

The reason this shit is frustrating to deal with is because he autosnowballs if he stays even because he gain so much more power from buying stats aswell as getting them from levels its disgusting really, It would also keep his shield down a bit longer early on to give more windows of weakness because currently he seems to hold all the cards

If that isnt enough i would change his 3thQ tornado to have reduced width, currently its 200 units wide, thats pretty wide most skillshots are alot smaller, so id change it to 175, which isnt much of a nerf but it makes slightly easier to dodge or harder to hit.

And if he still is frustrating after that, then id change his windwall to block a set amount of damage like 1000-2500 depending on rank + maybe attackspeed and bonus ad scaling so he can reasonably get to + 500 extra blockpower

These would be my options for nerfing

Obviously not everythign at once, as much as i'd want it too personally to see him gutted i realize there are people who enyoj playing him so i guess we should jsut make him more ''fair'' and start by chipping away at some of the free stats he gets

FastAsHeck7 votes

the reason Yasuo gets so many free stats out of abilities is that his base stats are absolute garbage

EDIT: oh boy why did I comment on a Yasuo hating thread, I knew this would happen. Still, 6 upvotes, 7 downvotes; not bad.

Spoofghoul3 votes

Not really

most of his stats are fairly average some of them arent that high for a fighter/assassin like his health which scales up to 1912. But thats still higher then sion for example and some of the stats are fairly high like base movespeed and attackrange and attackspeed.

overall his base stats are just average

he doesnt have scaling magic resist which is pretty much his only ''weak'' base stat

Left Hook Larry3 votes

when he says base stats he means on his abilities.

His q is a slightly stronger auto attack that you can miss. His W doesn't do dmg. His E does little to no damage at all.

His Q is one of the strongest CC abilities in the game. (A0E knockup on a 4.8S CD) His W is one of the strongest utility spells in the game. His E is one of the strongest mobility spells in the game.

Lmfao as soon as I read this I knew you were either a troll or a low elo player. And I was right.

His q one of the strongest cc abilities in the game? LOL It's an ability that you have to charge up and can miss and knocks them up for like a second. I guess Janna's tornado is THE most broken cc ability in the game then because it does the same without much drawbacks.

His W is one of the strongest utility spells in the game.

It's also one of the longest cooldowns on a regular spell in the game. It only blocks projectiles as well. Clear counterplay ability and without it he would be garbage tier

His E is one of the strongest mobility spells in the game.

Not even close to being one of the strongest. It is literally a targeted dash that does no more damage than an auto. Targeted dashes are the most balanced dashes in this game. It's fucking bs when a nid or ekko can keep dashing to run away from you or over walls. Yasuo's E forces him to use it for engage.

Yasuo's biggest issue is not his Ult CD, but his minion dash. At least in my humble opinion

Imperial Japan2 votes

Why

Punching Top3 votes

Because it's nearly impossible to hit him with any ability. He can dash to every your minion, has a Wind Wall that blocks every single ability and gains a shield by walking and dashing around you.

Left Hook Larry10 votes

It's not nearly impossible.

  1. He blocks only projectiles. He's meant to counter mage champs. This would be like me saying it's impossible to 1v1 to kill a Teemo as Darius. Everytime I run at him he places a shroom down and kites me with his BS movement speed. Then once I'm finally near him he blinds me and makes my autos useless and I'm dead by then. Teemo is clearly a broken champ! This is how stupid your argument sounds. Teemo is suppose to counter champs like darius just like Yas counters mages mid.

  2. He doesn't have unlimited dashes. If a Yasuo starts dashing through every minion like a retard, then you're a bigger retard for trying to hit him while he does this. Bait out his 25second cd wind wall. Most mages have lower cds than his wind wall anyways. Once he uses E a few times that means he's pushing the wave towards you and he won't be able to E again onto those minions for a while. Abuse that

OR, you can downvote my comment, ignore my advice and continue complain on the boards like everyone else. If you take this route you better also get used to that low elo border as well

NineTailedMystic1 votes

It's not the CD that matters. It's the wasted mana that matters.

His ult compared to other isn't very powerful early on because its conditional. You can't just use it, which makes it incredibly easy to play around unlik a Zed or Talon Ult which have instant effects and are harder to play around (and are much more powerful as well)

GayFluffyUnicorn3 votes

Imo with all the amount of free CDR given there should be an overhaul to the whole roster increasing cooldowns on ults. It's not funny when a bard can ult before the teamfight happens and after the teamfight he ults again to engage. So many champs with usually long cooldowns can now "spam" easily because nearly every champ can reach the 40-45% cap.

PhantomGG1 votes

Probabbly will happen as they have done it to both zed, talon and irelia. But I feel since Yasuo is is squisher than them he will be given something to help him out like maybe a better shield.
