We are almost at season 6 and there are still champs released in season 2 that cost 6300 IP.

Riot needs to increase the IP generation. I've been playing since october, and although I have a good champion pool. I still have to play hours on hours per day to get up to the 6300 mark.. where some of the fun champions are like Gnar and Braum..

No need for any of that. At the peak of my addiction, I used to play 15 to 20 games a day. Basically about 10 to 14 hours non-stop ranked games. Even if I lost some games and won some games, 6300 ip could be earned in a matter of days... wasn't that hard to get 20 rune pages and all the champs I needed.

Some people have hundreds of thousands of extra IP with nothing to do. . .

And they're all people who've been playing since season 1 lol. Which was like 5 years ago....now let that sink IN. Taking 5 years to get all the champions, runes and rune pages with just IP.

PiVoRx3 votes

You dont need all champions and runes. Half of the runes are useless and nobody plays all everything.

Alphadef22 votes

Your not required to play everyone at once, but who you want to play can change, and the option is always nice.

A bigger issue is that in Seasons 1 and 2 Riot gave out a lot more IP. They gave DOUBLE the first win per day and had SCHEDULED bonus IP weekends. They were able to get significantly enough ahead that the following IP reduction was balanced out with slower champion releases.

I play just since the end of season 3 and I have lots of IP and nothing to do with that IP. I have almost all champions and 20 completed rune pages.

That said, I agree that it is really difficult for someone to get IP. I have a smurf and I've been playing for days on that smurf and I still don't have enough IP to buy Fiora.

Cosnirak3 votes

And how much money did you spend on IP boosts, champions, and/or rune pages? Every dollar I spend on something that isn't a skin I'd be spending on skins if IP weren't such a long grind.

I actually didn't spent any money on IP boosts and rune pages. All of my rune pages (except obviously the first 2) were purchased with IP and I have 20 of them.

As for champions, I only purchased Hecarim Ziggs Aatrox Swain Zed with RP. Gnar and Vladimir do not count as Vlad was a gift and Gnar came with a bundle. Literally every other champion that I have was purchased with IP and I have all champions except Caitlyn Nami Rammus Taric Urgot Volibear.

I didn't needed any IP boost to obtain all this content. It is just that I have a lot of free time. I have wasted 3954 hours on LoL according to this site: http://wasted-on-lol.com/stats/br/yumaloveastral/

I know that most people don't have that much free time, which is why I agree with reducing the IP costs OR increasing the IP generation.

gaby1best1 votes

Hey, I've been playing since around that time too. I've got 66 champs. How many do you have?

TDubH1 votes

I've been playing since s4... i have over 100 champs.......

Edit: i joined mid s4, i have spent 260 RP out of the 400 free rp on a skin

mikemcparty1 votes

How many games do you play per day? I don't think it is possible to generate enough IP in that amount of time.

TDubH1 votes

At the height of my addiction? 9 games a day, this lasted almost the entirety of the summer last year due to me being incredibly depressed and gaming being my only escape. Normally i get about 2-4 games a day 1-2 SR's and 1-2 ARAMS, get about 5-6 games on the weekend... most people don't play as much as i do though which is probably why... also i have quite a few friends who come online for party IP weekends

mikemcparty3 votes

Yeah, that is a very large number of games. I guess that makes sense. Who is your favorite champ? What role do you prefer to play?

What world do you live in. They won't do that because $$$

Cosnirak1 votes

I think many of us would spend any money we save buying champions/rune pages/IP boosts on skins instead anyways.

Biffolo1 votes

But some people instead just buy more rp to compensate for that. Thus making them more money.

Cosnirak1 votes

Most don't though. A lot of people have limited money to spend on a game. And Riot loses some amount of money by having such a high barrier to entry and customer dissatisfaction as well.

Biffolo1 votes

you don't need to spend money on champs or runes. I have roughly 10-15 champs left to buy, and 7 completed rune pages, and I haven't even broken the 2 year mark yet. It's not that hard.

Cosnirak1 votes

I've seen a few IP discussions before and the "you don't need to spend money on champs or runes" line is one of the oldest, most worthless, unjustifiable things that's sadly often repeated.

Your opinion of what's 'enough' stuff is not the same as mine, and as long as we both understand and respect that that's ok. But you aren't doing that. You're saying that YOUR level of play in a mere 'less than 2 years' (as if that's a small amount of time...) has gotten you enough IP to buy the things YOU feel are plenty enough. But what does that have to do with me? NOTHING.

In 2-3 months with normal amounts of time spent playing I could make a new character in World of Warcraft and catch up enough to raid the 2nd hardest tier of raids easily. That's a grindy MMO. At most 4 months if you're actually new to WoW completely and don't look up how to do it quickly and have a full time job. You've been playing League for nearly 2 years and you've earned roughly half (possibly quite a bit less) the IP needed to buy everything you can with IP that's useful and I'm guessing you play a lot. Think about that.

Biffolo1 votes

I'm talking from a serious perspective. You don't need aatrox. All you need are the champs that are good. And I'm honestly ok with not having everything yet, it makes me learn things, instead of just fucking off and feeding.

Cosnirak1 votes

From a serious perspective I need more than 7 rune pages just to play two positions to their fullest, let alone more. Also which champs are good changes all the time and is partly a matter of personal preference and opinion anyways.

Nobody actually NEEDS a bunch of champions or runes or rune pages to play and only the very VERY top few are earning anything beyond a loading screen border and 1 skin a year. How serious you wanna take things and how wide a champion pool you want varies greatly from person to person.

The important thing is that it takes an extremely large amount of playing just to earn the ability to have a wide selection of choices in champion. And that's really not necessary to let Riot make a ton of money (as far as I know). Right now it's just a giant nuisance more than anything. If it isn't making Riot a good amount of money, why have it be that way?

They should do a sweeping price reduction to all the remaining champs from season 2 and all the champs in season 3 to reduce them all by a tier and from then on always cut the price of champs from 2 seasons prior or longer.

Retillin3 votes

Just have champions drop in price on their release anniversary. 6300>4800>3150. Then have them get released after X number of champs are released. Or keep them there.

Champions that are deemed harder to play by riot get the more expensive costs to avoid newer players from getting overwhelmed by their mechanics.

no

champions are reduced in cost by the date in which they were released. That COULD be true for some of the very older champions but as a whole, thats not the case.

360D3GR3SS4 votes

Yes they are reduced in cost by the release date., however there are several champions that are difficult to play and remain expensive because of this, RIOT themselves has stated this is the case for many champions that remain expensive despite being older.

Retillin1 votes

No, the ones that stay "expensive" are the high popularity ones on average. Really only Shyvanna was reduced in price "early" because she had simple game play. But she is still what 3150? And she is how old?

gaby1best2 votes

You know nothing. Click here and enlighten yourself.

Retillin4 votes

Yeah... that doesn't say anything about what I was saying.

For example, Ezeral costs 4800. He was released 2010-03-16. Akali, more difficult if annoyingly over powered at times, was released at 2010-05-11 and is 3150. Hell Twitch was released 2009-05-01 and is 3150, while Amumu/Cho/Xin/ect... are all 1350 or less and released after him.

Riot said (just this past week) that Shy was reduced because she was "easy". Yet Swain/Rene came out before her, are as "easy" and cost more.

So there is no rhythm or reason. Outside of outliers like Ezeral who is popular, so will not see a reduction until they have to. (ie he SHOULD be the next 4800 to be reduced on the next champ release)

"Also, with every third champion release, an additional champion currently priced at 4800 IP or lower will be reduced to the next lowest tier, based on age and ease of play."

There is some merit to what they say, but not about 6300 champs, only 4800 champs. EDIT: This can also be interpreted in a different way, that the next oldest champ at the 4800 hundred tier will be lowered to 3150, 1350, 450 etc or whatever the tiers are based on their ease of play. The wording can use some cleaning up that's for sure.

Since it says "next lowest tier", I would not interpret it to mean that a 4800 champ could get reduced to 1350 or 450.

Also, the once-every-3rd-release additional champs that have had price reductions since the price reduction policy was put into place are: Udyr, Skarner, Miss Fortune, Xin Zhao, Amumu and Shyvana. That's not in order of age. If it were supposed to be interpreted that way, then Ezreal, Kennen, Malzahar and Kog'maw should have come after Udyr. Skipping Ezreal would have been understandable since his price was reduced right at the start of this plan. But the other 3 would definitely have been price reduction targets if the champion was selected based purely on age from the pool of 4800 IP champs.

the Anarchit3cht1 votes

Sorry, that's not what I meant to put. What I meant to put was that the champ they lower could be from ANY tier, 4800, 3150, 1350 based on either age or ease of play. So basically they can have it on grounds of lowering whoever the want, based on what they determine their ease of play to be. The idea is that is either A) The next oldest champ or B) An easy champ to play, but they can come from ANY tier and be moved one tier lower than what they currently reside at.

Zach is sad4 votes

I'm a fairly new player, I'm lvl 12 and I feel I'm learning pretty well however I feel that even if you get the first win on the day and play 10 matches straight and win all of them you'll come out with only 900-1400 IP which in my opinion is not enough.

Koldheartedjsp3 votes

Well yeah they stopped releasing Champs so fast so they don't have to reduce price as much.

I think from this point on, you can probably back the remaining 6300 champs from season 2 cost 4800. Theres plenty of 6300 champions left, not to mention a ton of 4800.

SmokinSickStyle3 votes

What about the inability to move rune pages and masteries?

It's simple and handy yet we don't have that, and it's been suggested many times.

If they made every champion cheap then you would buy them all then complain that you have nothing to buy

Gorgannan1 votes

The five champions (u no hu i meen) should be free, and the rest of the original 40 should be 450. That's one win with the daily win bonus. I wouldn't care if they made the only other two orices the 4800 and the 6300 if they did that change with the originals.

EDIT: 6, I think, since it's Annie, Ryze, Garen, Kayle, Nunu.
