"Shaco, need a leash?

Trash MammaI··5 votes·2,449 views

Idk, Billy, why do you even give leashes in the first place? Is it to help the jungler have a faster/healthier clear? Probably. I mean do you really REALLY have anything better to do while the minions are marching to lane and no, dancing in river with the enemy doesn't count.

As a Shaco main it irritates me to hell when people ask me this, then some people have the gall to say "He's Shaco, he doesn't need one" Well, you're a fucking jax/zed/rengar etc. you shouldn't need a single gank from me.

Yes, I know Shaco doesn't require a leash due to boxes, i'm not stupid. It wouldn't kill people to actually help though, because you know what giving a leash to Shaco does? It gives him even more time to prep for when he's going to go counter jungle or gank or whatever, prep time is by far one of the most important things to Shaco early on.

This doesn't just go for Shaco, also goes for WW/Nunu etc. players. Yes, we have good sustain early on but that doesn't mean we wouldn't want our TEAM showing a bit of TEAMWORK in the game.

Typically i'm not this douchey in-game when I play him, I simply reply "It's up to you" where they usually just head to lane/river and start /dancing or recall spam until minions start fighting. Instead of AAing a mob 1-2 times to help an ally out they choose to do that.

And you wonder why us Shaco players are so evil to everyone

Probably because when you do try to leash for a Shaco, he just pings you back 10 times lol.

TheThundersRoar1 votes

While your midlaner laughs at you and calls you a noob for trying to leash for a Shaco.

Trash MammaI1 votes

I've never done that, everytime someone ask if I need a leash I simply reply "It's up to you" and they just leave.

Some people don't realize how powerful a leash on Shaco is, especially if that one plans to invade the enemy at his buff. That's a level 3 while bot lane is level 1 if you get there to take everything. Such a major advantage shouldn't be thrown away because dancing is more important than helping.

It does help him, but Ive had so many Shacos either say "I dont need a leash" or just ping us back at like 1:30 that I dont even try to do it anymore unless he asks me to.

S H A Y C 01 votes

every jungler ive ever had pings you back 10 times before he is going to smite it...so whats your deal? you afraid of sound files or what?

Penns1 votes

No many Shacos ping you back before the camp even spawns to say that he doesnt need a leash. Luckily I got my ping sound nearly muted Jinx

S H A Y C 01 votes

well it turns out...they arent all the same guy. shaco never actually pinged you back 360noscopeswaglord567 is the one that pinged you back..the next guy however, he might actually want a few autos in there. Treat everybody you dont know like you dont know them and be kind and courteous. you can always ask the second he picks shaco in champ select so you can discuss the lvl 1 strats there.

Penns1 votes

Well I help them if they ping for help

thats a start :)

Lots of Shacos ask for no leash and there have been times where it really was a big cost to laners instead of a minor one. You can't expect every player to be able to read your mind.

DeathBurst3 votes

Well, the thing is, it's partly Shaco playerbase fault. You would like a leash, but I've seen other people actually telling me that they didn't me and that I should go in lane.

Another point is: do you have something better to do? Well, it depends. If I'm Garen up against Darius, hell no, I'll be glad to help you. But against Vlad, if I can hide in a side bush in the toplane and surprise jump him level 1, it sure eases my first 2 or 3 levels.

I always ask if he needs a leash, but a lot of the time I hope I don't need to give a leash. This is because if I do, then my opponent gets a head start on their CS.

As a jungler I sometimes get bothered by needing a leash because a teammate loses CS (a very small amount though) but I ask all the same.

It's a common courtesy to offer a leash for your jungler. Like opening the door for someone else.

Zarkkast1 votes

If you just help leash the krugs or gromp you can go back to lane a not lose any cs...

You don't have to leash until the creep has 10 HP left.

Ralanr1 votes

I just leave when my jungler does the alert ping.

If you're giving a proper leash which is about 1-2 hits from both people or 3-4 from the solo person then go straight to lane you shouldn't be missing any cs, if your opponent has any it's because he's pushing the lane in which case that leaves them open to be ganked really early on.

I play a LOT of Shaco and after i'm done killing my opponent at his buff (usually I get there fast enough to kill him and take the whole camp which is a level 3) I go straight to bot lane and nobody expects a level 3 shaco while they're level 1 which is usually a kill or summoners down after which I run mid either kill/summoners there then head to the next buff and kill the enemy there who should be just about finishing it up or just starting (depending if they go do their other camps or not)

99% of the time I have to skip the bot lane gank simply because instead of leashing me/letting enemy push they choose to push the lane up so I run mid then to the other buff. That's a chance at a huge lead for them simply because they thought dancing was more helpful than attacking a camp 1-2 times.

Summarizing this wall of text: Leashes = Faster/more sudden impacts(or pressure) from the jungler. No leash = Slower/less impactful(pressure) from jungler. No matter who it is

Also having quite a few mastery points on shaco, i feel like it is more beneficial for bot to take krugs and I take red by myself, then run over to their bottom side buff and pick up first blood. But thats just what I do. Shaco level 1 clear is super fast and really shouldn't need a leash either way. But hey we all have our different strats amirite

I hate shaco

I don't leash Shaco for two reasons, 1st being that 2ce already i accidentally killed the Blue Golem underestimating how much damage the boxes do, 2nd i have yet had a Shaco want a leash (apart from the 1st ones i encountered but it was during the leveling up to 30 and that's when i fucked up the 2 times.)

If you ask for one though I'll be happy to help, just know it'll be like 1 spell cast or 2 autos cause i don't want to risk ruining your jungle. (or just ask me to start Wraith and I'll get it warmed up while you kill blue, i prefer that approach)

Boulderox1 votes

Always ask when i see a shaco :) lets him set up more boxes for red/blue

A lot of champions like having early lane control, especially in bot lane. Being able to shove up and get that lvl 2 first can dictate the entire earlygame and score you a 5-10 cs advantage by your first recall which means you'll be able to get that BF earlier and shove an empty lane once you're back with it, getting good damage on the enemy tower.

You can also avoid lvl 2 all-ins from kill lanes by getting to lane earlier, it also helps the support get into the enemy brush and start zoning them out.

So while it's important to give your jungler a leash if he needs it to clear safely often the advantage you get by being first to the lane is greater than what your jungler gets by getting a leash.

I rarely see shaco in my games. So I wouldn't know.

Personally, when ever I jungle. I always pick a Jungler who can make their first clear without any difficulty, with or without a leash. Leaving the option of a leash, up to the other players. In some respects, I'm not even sure how to make effective use of the advantage a leash gives me.

As a fellow Shaco main, I can say with 100% accuracy that I never ask for a leash. If the laners want to stay and give the camp a few autos, then that's their business and are welcome to do it. When I first started playing Shaco, I had some bad experiences from laners who leashed TOO MUCH, and ended up taking XP and sometimes even the monsters themselves. Of course this was in the Season 4 jungle, but even nowadays I always let my laners knows that leashing is not necessary.

Part of the issue is that I almost never invade the enemy's buff at level 2 like most Shaco players do. At higher elos it's simply too risky, and a coordinated team will often converge on you while you're killing the enemy jungler. Either that or they will simply start at their buff camp and move on from there, thus preventing the level 2 cheese. Good junglers aren't stupid; if they see a Shaco on the enemy team, they ALWAYS assume they will get invaded. Too much can go wrong, and if Shaco is set behind early due to a failed invade, it's quite difficult to come back.

It's also important to gauge the tendencies of your laners when considering a level 2 gank/invade. For example a Tristana+Thresh lane will often push quite hard from level 1; that's just the way that lane will play out due to Trist's E passive and Thresh wanting to get level 2 as fast as possible. A Kog'maw+Janna lane, on the other hand, will want to sit back and be as passive as possible. Both lanes are very hard to gank at level 2 as Shaco. With the former, the wave will often be at the enemy's turret before you're finished your red buff. With the later, Kog and Janna will not have enough to contribute to a gank at level 1, not with cc or with damage. Thus, the better decision is to simply clear your jungle as normal instead of going for a cheese gank.

What does this have to do with leashing? Well, naturally I would expect the Tristana+Thresh lane to want to start pushing for level 2 as fast as possible, so a leash would be less likely there. The Kog'maw+Janna duo would be more inclined to leash, since they don't want to hard push for level 2.

Lastly, the only time I really require a leash is when I want to take 2 camps at once (or alternatively, both buff camps at once). I do this by placing 2 boxes at the first camp, then running over to my other camp and placing 2 more boxes. The laners (usually bot lane) will then leash at one camp just enough so that the boxes kill the monsters, granting me the gold and experience without actually having to be there. Then I simply clear my buff camp as normal using the other 2 boxes. This way, I can take both my blue and red buff at level 1, then invade or gank as soon as the enemies get into lane.

Of course, this strategy requires above average coordination and game knowledge, so I rarely do it unless I'm playing with people I know and trust.

What shaco could do with a solid leash...two boxes on blue, two boxes on gromp...leash on blue??? so sexy...never happen...but soooo sexy*[zombie-nunu-hearts]*

The Bearded Bard1 votes

I'd love to get a leash as Shaco, that means I can take golems and red at the same time and be in mid lane before the first wave dies.

Unfortunately most people in solo queue don't know how to do it and usually end up taking my camp/exp when they try it.

Arcade Andrew1 votes

I don't like leasing in general as a jungler or not. New jungle Items+ decent management of potions+scuttle crab and not being afraid to go B make leashless junglin easy

JQKAndrei1 votes

Yeah, but you lose a lot of time.

Weathered1 votes

People trying to leash me when I play shaco does more harm than good. I can clear better than most all junglers, and I'd prefer not to take a chance of them leaching exp.
