I think I know Ekko's problem
Ok so right now there seems to be 2 solid groups, those that say Ekko is OP/broken, those that say hes fair. Now the problem I feel with Ekko is the similar to that of Talon, albeit in different ways. They both have rather large damage that is justified by the OPPONENT'S PLAY. Talon: mispositioning***-1*** , missing cc/key skillshots, etc Ekko: Carelessness/general lack of attention to surroundings, predictability in movement patterns etc
(-1 | mispositioning, while punishable by both, is easier/faster on Talon, and the error can be rather small, hence why i mentioned it only on his)
This presents a problem for Ekko, in that his effectiveness is more heavily influenced by THE OPPONENT rather than THE PLAYER.
That's not to say Ekko cannot outplay/out skill etc his opponents, but his opponent has a rather large amount of influence over his effectiveness.
Now as to why this is actually an issue.
He was just released.
The fact that people haven't realised how/what to do to stop Ekko leaves them thinking he's OP.
Surely you or someone in one of your games has said something along the lines of this: "He gets a 2.25 stun and a huge shield, and his ult damage is so OP".
That stun requires him to first place it either where you are now hoping you don't move for 3 seconds, or anticipate where you are going to be in 3 seconds time, then also manage to PHYSICALLY REACH IT before the target manages to WALK OUT OF IT.
And as for his ultimate, it literally tells you where he will appear. I'm sorry but if you're getting hit by that either your next level baits better work or you straight up deserve it.
And so I don't have to say this in the comments, dat Q ain't
's Orb of Deception, and is really easy to dodge.
TL;DR Ironically, Ekko hasn't been given enough time for people to truly realise how much counterplay he has, a lot of his damage is easily avoided, as well as the stun, and he is heavily reliant on his passive.
