Am I the only person who really likes Dynamic Queue?

Pierce The Veal··15 votes·1,606 views

I like being able to queue with anywhere from 1 to 4 friends.

I don't however like getting my secondary role 95% of the time. But that's just spaghetti code.

Nonetheless, am I alone in liking dynamic queue?

Edit: Just noting here that I play solo 3 games out of 4.

Simply means people who play Dynamic Queue will simply decay and lose game when they enter Solo Queue. Hence, "BOOSTED ANIMAL"

I guess the game is all about people playing alone with 4 other alone people then.

I agree honestly. I haven't noticed any difference in my solo queue, and besides being able to be with friends, I haven't noticed much of an increase in winrate when in dynamic queue.

FYI: Primary and Secondary roles are the new Champ Select and have nothing at all to do with Dynamic Queue.

Playing with friends is fine for Normals, but makes for a terrible Ranked system since being able to play with the same people every game and potentially coordinate by being in the same room or through Skype is a massive advantage over people that have to play with different teammates every game and don't have voice chat to communicate strategy to set up plays.

I'm glad you're having fun, but Rank currently means less than winning in Bot matches at the moment. You may as well be playing Normals anyway because there is no difference in competitiveness now.

I mean ranked already was like that.

And no, I didn't mistake the new champ select with dynamic queue. I don't rescind my position that the new champ select's primary and secondary spaghetti code is making ranked worse.

Yeah dynamic queue is better overall, but Riot needs to fix a few glaring problems. Like making sure you get your primary role at least 70% of the time and long queue times for high mmr. Aside from that, it's nice to have less toxicity every game, and more people on the same page.

I swear I had mid primary, and top secondary, and got top 10 games in a row, not including the dodges (if I did it would be more like 30) That's freaking bullshit.

Yeah, same. Used to play jungle/support. Got sick of supporting 95% of the time when I'm trying to be a jungle main. Jungle/Top now, get each role ~50/50. Would love a fix to that. I mean, I KNOW how to code a fix for that. Not hard.

Yes fixes, there's literally so many ways it could be done.

And I sure as hell know that there isn't that much more demand for mid over top lane.

Normals can't bring people a ranking though. They are feeling more use to it since these "ranks" matter so much in their minds.

DrCyanide1 votes

Normals is where you're not trying your hardest. You're trying a new build, or a new champion, or a new role, or all at once. And your opponents are doing the same.

Dynamic Queue allows for small groups of friends to try their hardest, knowing their opponents are going the same, and see where things end up.

Honestly, Smurfs in Ranked are a bigger problem right now than Dynamic Queue is. All of these people complaining about boosted players seem to forget that it'd be impossible to boost them without Smurfs...

I think even trio is ok as long as both teams have one. Want to rank with 3 friends? Deal with the queue times. 4 man irks people though.

If you're a casual, then Dynamic is great. However, if you're truly competitive, then you can't like Solo Queue. They don't coincide. Dynamic Queue ensures without fail that your ELO isn't a true representation of skill because so many people get boosted above where they should be.

The problem with that is that they can't coexist: they draw on the same players, and you unfortunately need to have a solo player fill the game in a 4 man premade.

Yep... so Riot pretty much needs to choose if they want to take away the cool toy that premades have (Some of whom aren't even boosters... probably) to save solo players from being second class citizens... OR if they want to just throw solo players under the bus and make playing with premades the "correct" way to play the game.

But let's be honest here, the only way that it's easier to boost using dynamic queue is with a 5 man premade of boosters. And I can guarantee you that would be easy to detect.

I don't see another way someone could "boost" without literally starting a new account, levelling to 30, and queueing with the people he wants to raise the rank of. The inefficiency of which would make it impractical to do.

The queue shouldn't be affecting matches as much as it does now. Playing against premades when I'm playing alone immediately gives me a disadvantage in terms of communication, familiarity with my allies' tendencies and gives them a significant strategic advantage.

Furthermore, I'm limited to type chatting that is often ignored or overlooked, they quite likely are voice chatting. If a player in their premade is particularly skilled, they can intentionally focus on getting him or her fed, whereas I'm at the mercy of what my team decides they want to do.

They are significantly less likely to have a rager, AFK or feeder because they invited their team. I'm at the mercy of my team's competency, ISP and patience.

Because of ALL the aforementioned advantages, it is significantly easier to translate a lead into a win and carry a game while in a premade, and much more difficult to outplay a premade as a solo queue player.

All in all, it's a casual queue being used in a competitive format. If you want to play with friends, we had Ranked 5s. Now, solo queue players have to deal with all the bullshit. As I said, the queue should NOT be influencing matches and giving pre-game advantages this substantial.

Okay, I understand where you are coming from, but answer me this... In a solo Queue with 4 other random players, does that make the communication any better? Absolutely not. If anything that premade-4 you can guarantee are speaking to each other, so that is 4/5 communicating, where-as in a solo environment, you would have 4 other random people. Do you think those 4 random people are communicating better then a premade 4? no. Do you think that they are more capable of communicating with you then that premade? No. The idea that premades reduces communication is silly. That and Random players care LESS about winning. I know this is a bit odd, but think about it. Those 4 people are queuing together, with the same goal, creating synergy. They care about eachother, and their ranks as a team. Those strangers may have that "I don't care, i don't know any of you anyway" attitude. So it's a double ended blade my friend. I just want a balanced system. I don't care how we get it.

Let's suppose there is a Team A and a Team B. I will be numbering the players 1 through 5, then will be approximating their skill levels. I will list them in descending order.

Team A Player 1: XXXXX Player 2: XXXX Player 3: XXXX Player 5: XXXX Player 4: XXX

Team B Player 4: XXXXX Player 2: XXXX Player 3: XXXX Player 5: XXXX Player 1: XXX

These look pretty fair, at least on paper. Each team has about a XXXX/XXXXX skill level, and the outliers are XXX and XXXXX. However, imagine that each team has a 4 man premade. Suppose player 1 is the solo queue player on each team. How does this affect the game?

Well, the best player on team A is left out of the communication loop, and the worst player on team B is left out. Strategies are almost certainly going to be centered around people in the group. This means that Team B's strategy will likely incorporate getting their best player fed, whereas the focus on team A is probably not on player 1, given (s)he's the stranger. Player 4 can lead his/her team's shotcalling, instruct his/her team and lead them to victory much more easily than player 1 can for his/her team. Furthermore, they will all be familiar with one another's tendencies, whereas player 1 is at the mercy of his team's own competency. While not necessarily true if matched with a 4 man premade, in general, Player 1 is more likely to have a rager, afk or feeder ruin his/her chances of carrying, by virtue of getting random players rather than ones he or she hand picked.

Therefore, it is reasonable to suggest that Player 4's skill level, while equivalent to Player 1's, will ultimately be more likely to impact the match because they can more easily communicate and lead their team. Player 1 will not necessarily be incorporated into strategic planning or leadership.

Compared to the previous queue, there is a much larger capacity for organization, which unfortunately punishes solo queue players harder than facing multiple duo queues. When one team has the organization of a premade, your team being equally organized becomes FAR more necessary. This season exasperates the issue that I agree was always present, making it a far larger deficit for the solo queue player.

Fair enough. It does make sense, assuming the players are in fact ignoring the champions or picks the solo person is making. But if they are a decent team, they would understand that if anything, the random is on their team is the biggest factor they can't control.

I actually do win premades more often than not.

But it's when I switch back to solo after some multi man queueing that I see a problem. Suddenly my elo is inflated and to balance that the matchmaking queues me with teammates below my elo. And as a solo player it's hard to carry people below your elo vs people similar to your elo.

I suppose it depends on the premade, but I have the exact opposite

I lose like 10 games in a premade, then go back and stomp solo queue. It's actually pretty easy because all I have to do to win as a solo player most of the time is not suck worse than the other solo players.

But however you look at it, the system is busted.

Gimpy891 votes

great argument.

Boosting is very rampant right now. If you could actually tell the difference between how people play at each elo you would see the huge variance in skill this season.

Intentional boosting is so easy as you can stack smurfs/clients and people also get unintentionally boosted since their MMR is no longer a reflection of their personal skill, but the mean skill of their regular premade.

I have seen streams of D+ smurfs queing with silver-gold for donations on their smurfs (and riot doesn't ban them).

not only does this system increase boosting but at higher elo the system allows 5 man premades to go against 5 solo players (yes this is rare and mostly happens at higher elo, but the system will do it to reduce que time) and this is a 100% guaranteed loss at any elo where people aren't brain-dead.

But hey you might get out of silver finally if you make good friends. this is your chance to achieve mediocrity.

I would apologize about my "argument" had it not been your place to defend your position in the first place. "Boosted que" alone is not even a sentence, let alone a legitimite argument.

You're right. However there was nothing to stop people from doing this before with duo queue already. And trust me, doing dynamic queue with 1 good player and 4 pieces of shit is definitely not easy for the good player. As time progresses, and he carries 1, 2, 5, 10 games eventually he will be unable to carry if the skill of the players doesn't rise as well.

And that brings up a good point, while it may seem like it's a bad thing for there to be this sort of chaos, it might actually be a good thing in that it would forcefully intermix the player base, resulting in some unfair losses and victories(assuming it's like you said, and there are literally 1v9 gods that can carry), but more importantly allowing the general skill level of the game to increase.

And as a fix to keep dynamic queue in the game, why not make it so a players gameplay/rank has to stabilize in order to maintain his rank? Just make it so anyone who ranks up ridiculously fast will also have a huge mmr and rank decay over time. If he's legitimitely able to keep his rank, then his skill isn't faked, that or the guy has to pay a booster over an extended period of time to keep him in that rank.

And you know what that would do? It would also take those accursed smurfs out of the running. If someone wants to occupy top 5 of challenger, or just stomp some lower elos, then he's going to pay for it.
