GAH! What does it take to get an S?!?!?

26 minute game, 15/5/5 KDA 185 CS, 5 turrets, 1 inhib, I took Baron at 22 minutes, did the most damage in the game by 10k more than the person who did the second most (vayne), 12 wards placed (second only to Janna who placed 17), 2 vision wards, 14.3k Gold (2k more than anyone else), I tanked 31k damage (which was 3k more than anyone else)...

Damn man lol you Yoricks out there are doing too good, slack a bit so I can get my S! Honestly it was definitely my CS score that did me in, also I died 1 or 2 too many times :P. But come on how is that not a fantastic score for a 26 minute game where the first 2 minutes are just standing around waiting for minions lol.

EDIT: I love how people read the title then downvote because they think "oh your CS is crap" when I say in my post that I know for a fact it was my CS that lost me the S. ITS CALLED A JOKE PEOPLE, get a sense of humor lol.... Still though I didn't farm great because I was busy killing their whole team, taking turrets, and getting Baron... so idk why 20 more CS is valued higher than 1-2 more turrets and 5-6 more kills than normal, plus a Baron.

Higher CS.

I agree, said it in my post too.

Yorick is usually a power farmer, so his CS would need to be even more for an S.

How about wards? Kill participation (your participation (20 from what it looks like) / total team kills). Deaths also might be a tad too much.

I placed 12 Wards and 2 Vision Wards, the next highest was Janna who placed 17 wards and 1 Vision Ward I believe. I had 49% kill participation, which is lower than I thought it would be :I.

My CS is definitely what did me in, I knew it when I looked and saw it was below 200. The thing is I was off taking turrets more than I was farming... so idk why CS > Turrets...

Here's the thing... Yorick is a master of both Farming AND Tower taking by split pushing. By the sound of it seems like you were more focused on teamplay and your teammates were clearing waves too fast for you to be able to up your score a bit more,

I definitely focused more on team objective control rather than split pushing. We ended up in their base at like 24 minutes and it was pretty hard to CS with all 5 of us there.

That's unlucky lol. I did slightly worse that that as yorick last week and got an S (I think I did have more CS though probably because I built a Z'zrot). I think Riot over-values CS and undervalues objectives taken when grading. I certainly didn't do a 22 min baron, you should get more credit for that in the grade.

Yeah my CS was definitely too low, I normally have over 200 at this point, but tbh I have never gone and taken Baron before and I also took way more Turrets and got more kills than I normally do. I wonder why CS is so highly valued? like I didn't farm great because I was busy winning the game...

I've had the same problem, answer from Boards is always the same: you need more CS. Apparently it's a very highly valued metric for deciding the final score.

Stephenizgod1 votes

I know it was my CS, i am just wondering why CS is valued more than the other Objectives I took and the bonus 4-5 kills i got. Its hard to CS when you are at their nexus turrets at 24 minutes taking them both by yourself...

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that taking towers or getting kills can just be taking advantage of opponent mistakes, so they don't reward it as highly as focusing on mechanical things like CS.

It feels dumb to me, too, though. Putting so much pressure on CS for the highest Mastery rewards just creates an incentive to stall the game out and deliberately NOT win so you can inflate minion counts. ._.

My issue is that it feels like you have to get a ton of kills and stuff because I am pretty sure it takes it CS/min so that having 300 CS in a 30 minutes game is ranked higher than having 400 CS in a 60-minute game. So that means once you fall below a certain threshold it kind of feels like stalling to CS won't affect your Mastery score, in fact, it will only hurt it because you probably are not getting kills regularly and it also risks the chance of losing the game.

I agree that CS should be important, but I feel that it is weighted far too much over other stuff like Objectives taken and even damage taken. I took the most damage by far, healed the most damage, and died like second least in the game. That means I had more aggro than anyone else and didn't die, that is damage not going to my teammates who now have a better show at getting kills or just surviving. As a Fighter, I got the most kills, did the most damage, and took the most objectives. As our Tank, I tanked the most damage without dying a ton which took the focus off our carries. So why are these things not taken into account? or why are they so overshadowed by the 20-30 CS I didn't get?

Place Control wards, get high CS, don't die.

Kill participation is also important.

The last 5 minutes of the game I should just buy as many Control Wards as I can just place them randomly to up my score XD

If you are playing jungle, im pretty sure securing drags and baron also matters.

Stephenizgod2 votes

Maybe I should play him in the Jungle, Yorick can take Baron solo at 20 miunutes. So it would be easy to secure drags.

Well i know it's a regional thing i don't know how it breaks down but S is not that hard to get on him honestly my last on him was like 14/2/10 and 253cs 3 towers 2 inhubs. I wish you the best of luck on your S

Stephenizgod1 votes

The two times i got an S were because I had 300 farm, one of them was like 30 minutes and I was like 5/1/7 and i took 3 turrets 1 inhib. I am just surprised that like 120 Farm is valued over 10 extra kills, 2 extra turrets, an extra inhib, and I took Baron.

i think you should have a very good cs/min to get "s" on popular champions
