Lethal Tempo was a bad decision to give to DPS ADCs

No experienced player gives a shit about the 1.5 second delay. It's the fact that you've traded the bonus AD from Fervour for bonus attack speed. It hurts DPS ADCs for two big reasons. And one small reason.

  1. Your character has to stop moving in order to attack. So if you're chasing someone, you're forced to stop to attack them, while they're not required to stop in order to walk away. Even when I play ASHE, the champ that SLOWS, I always rush Berserker's Greaves for the movement speed. And if I try killing/chasing an enemy ADC, even when I SLOW them, and they have NO BOOTS, they can manage to walk away if I have to stop dead in my tracks in order to land my shots. This is a problem for nearly every champion, which is why Kalista is in such a nice spot right now. Instead of stopping her, attacking makes her move even more! It's great!

  2. Kiting makes high-attack speed USELESS. Well, pointless. It nullifies it. You know how kiting works? You auto once, walk away a little bit, and auto again. Repeat. Kiting safely would make you attack at around a 0.90-1.50 attack speed, depending on your individual skill at it. Imagine having a 1.80 attack speed. If you have to kite in order to not pop like a balloon, some players would be losing around a third of their total output potential. This could go up to half or even more for champs like Jinx or Tristana once they proc Lethal Tempo, because they could get up to 3.00+ attack speed and not be able to use most of it! This is what makes Jhin a good, solid champion. The movement speed he gets it nice, but he can land one high-damage shot and have ample time to start re-positioning himself in order to fire his second high-damage shot. Lethal Tempo works on Jhin pretty well, too! Because instead of giving him 30-80% more attack speed, it gives him 7.5-20% bonus AD instead! Because of his passive, duh.

  3. item 3076 item 3075 Rammus These unrelenting pieces of shit. The first two used to scale with damage received, which meant they'd return damage FAIRLY. Now, all three scale on your own armour! So champions that auto more slowly with high damage Draven Jhin (who DON'T utilise Lethal Tempo to attack faster) care less about it, but DPS ADCs that use fast, "lighter" attacks Jinx Tristana MasterYi are getting way more screwed over by this.

It's basically the exact problem Kog'maw had when they reworked him. They let him cap at 5.0 AS on a normal ability, but it made him literally stand in place and turn into a fire hose pouring out DPS and praying his team healed him hard enough.

And I liked the old Kog'Maw! He's what every ADC should have been -- a complete monster that needed to be protected in order to be a monster! He showcased the symbiotic mutualism between an ADC and his support merging two different champions into one super powerful champion! That was balance at its finest.

While I totally agree with your third point (you should try it though, pretty fun) there's something you don't know about auto-attacking and moving.

Idk what you might call it but I call it animation cancelling or orbwalking which, with enough practice, can help you a lot while kiting. Every aa has two parts in its animation; The first part is the animation that happens before you shoot and the second part is the animation that happens right after you shoot. Animation cancelling is cancelling that second part of the animation by moving right after you shoot (first animation ends, move) which saves you a lot of time and puts that time into moving. The second animation takes more time than the first one and with this skill no one can out-run you unless they have more movement speed (some champs are faster than others).

Imagine having a 1.80 attack speed. If you have to kite in order to not pop like a balloon, some players would be losing around a third of their total output potential.

I can kite at over 2.00 attack speed since I almost always build full crit.

Kiting makes high-attack speed USELESS.

I don't think lethal tempo was made for kiting, this is literally the same as saying press the attack is useless in teamfights. Lethal tempo can dish out a ton of damage with champs that have high attack speed like kog'maw and jinx. They even lowered its cooldown so it can be used more often. You can still kite with lethal tempo but that's not it's main use. If you want to kite all game, get fleet footwork. Lethal tempo can be used in many more scenarios.

I have to say, higher attackspeed might seem bad, but if you can microkite properly it shouldnt be a problem. people used to kite finely with season 6 kogmaw with 5.0 attackspeed(truly a sight to see). just bind attackmove and normal move to 2 unused keys next to eachother as secondary and just alternate between them really fast to microkite. (I use J and K)

I agree with point 3. However I actually have an entirely different opinion of lethal tempo. I think that lethal tempo just shouldn't be in the game to begin with since it's an extremely unstable keystone if Press the Attack ever gets nerfed enough. Free attack speed is never going to be balanced for ADCs, especially Kog'maw.

We've seen what happened when Kog'maw got reworked, now imagine that a lil' watered down for every single ADC damage.

Note: Draven actually does utilise lethal tempo.

Well I mean, he does utilise Lethal Tempo in the same way Gangplank or Sejuani utilises Lethal Tempo.

I still miss the old Kog'Maw. The only reason people complain about high attack speed is item 3153, which is kinda unfair. Riot already nerfed its attack speed for more damage, anyways.

My friend actually plays Draven with Lethal Tempo. It works pretty great considering the fact that you can weave 1-2 autos in after every axe.

You are kinda right, in theory. But in an actual game if you do reach late game where Tristana or kog can get to 3 something or even 4 AS from lethal tempo you shred the entire enemy team in like 5 seconds. I know you can’t move mug with 4 auto per second but the damage is just so terrifying even a full build tank can’t deal with that kind of damage. usually when I play Tristana, I waited for the entire enemy team to engage and when the team fight is already a giant mess there’s where I came in pouring my damage on the enemy team. You actually don’t have to move cuz their assasins cant even touch you if they come close you demolish them in 2 seconds.
