Is Galio slated for a rework at some point?

I only ask this because after Yorick and Warwick have been updated.....whose next for a relaunch? Riot has been able to touch on pretty much every old and outdated champ in the game......except Galio. I mean, not even his splash art has been updated.

Throughout the history of the game, he's really only gotten minor tweaks here and there. 6.8 gave him a buff to his E, and he got a decent list of tweaks throughout season 5. But thats it, nothing but tweaks since his release.

Besides him, I really see no one else that would be suitable enough for a full relaunch.

It's Yorick's turn >:O

I agree. I'm just talking about after him...

Warwick.

Then maybe Urgot. I wonder which of the two of them will be reworked first?

Electro5221 votes

Warwick is currently on the update schedule, so we know hes coming after Yorick.

So Galio and Urgot are probably coming after Warwick.

Galio doesn't need any updates or remake. He looks fine to me

They haven't stated who is next. However, the names they've thrown around heavily have been Evelynn and Akali.

Wouldn't both of them be thrown in with the assassin update?

Eve is on the consideration for a full VGU I think it was if I remember correctly, plus they haven't confirmed who all is going to be in the assassin update but she's being considered for it too. I honestly would love a full, correct rework for her.

No, Meddler and Reav3 have stated that both ladies need considerably more work than a class update can offer them. Meddler has gone into mild detail a couple times on the inconsistencies with Evelynn that makes her high on the list for a relaunch.

Honestly would rather they not mangle yet another champion with their reworks personally, especially poor Galio. He's underplayed but by no means weak as a champion.

No, he sin't weak, but his one major problem is mana. HIs mana costs are so high, you can only get maybe 1 or 2 combos off before you have to back. And by the time you have enough mana to sustain yourself at a reasonable level, your damage starts falling off. Also, since AP hasn't been the dominant type of damage for a really long time, his passive is more or less useless. AND, magic resist is ALWAYS inferior to armor. AND he's melee, when all of his abilities (except for his ult) are ranged.

No, he isnt weak, but his negatives outweigh his positives by a fair amount.

Have to disagree. A well versed Galio player knows how to budget their mana in lane for a well timed first back. When the mage update hit Galio was in the perfect spot. At present, especially at your ranking, AP is still played abundantly mid. Galio is also still viable top and support depending on the matchup.

Problem is the suggestion of ROA for his mana item now as opposed to his old choice, Athene's. It hasn't sat right with me since the update. I see the reasoning but he's felt honestly less effective early on going that route.

His passive is never useless, but becomes less effective in tanking if the enemy team has little to no AP. Rarely is a team going to be 4AD and a support unless they wish to be countered back by stacking armor. You usually want at least two AP champs per side, support potentially one of them.

His wave clear is insane once he has his mana under control. You force the enemy laner to stay in lane or lose their tower entirely. I've forced countless champions to that exact scenario more than once.

Obviously if you're picking Galio you ban out anyone you feel is going to block his waveclear. Yas as an example, is a wonderful bully at that, though can be worked around if necessary.

galio main here....

galio doesn't need changing at all, hes perfectly fine as is, everyone just plays him wrong.

his base damages are ginormous, build penetration and you chunk the whole enemy team, galio isn't meant to be a damage dealing laner, hes a team fighter and thats where he excels. (but he can be a killer pending build, ie abyssal sorc boots and ludens will crush enemy mid laners)

item 1056 item 1056 ->item 3010 mana costs gone. full build item 3027 item 3001 item 3020 item 3089 item 3157 flex fill item, can be any one of these item 3285 item 3152 item 3030 item 3135 item 3116 item 3151 you can replace these items as needed or what you think would work in a given situation, but ATM galios never been better with item choices.

before it was grail 100% of the time, but catalyst changes = options for galio.

** you E + Flash ult, your team follows up, you win the game** it is that simple and everyone always tries to be a hero or think "i didn't 100-0 them... galios worthless" but its just the opposite.

if anything galio is too strong right now

but since hes so rarely picked... your team or the enemy team has no clue how to play with or against him, getting a good team with a galio is just freelo. you group up with galio, go some place together, and the objective is yours

it is true that galio lacks in the carry department, he does lack a 4th damaging ability after all, but think of the AoE ult potential...

Galio main as well. I agree with your points but i've always personally detested going the AP route with him. Just personal choice and playstyle. It is unfortunate how few people understand how to utilize a Galio on their team to the full potential.

I've played him in several positions, I've found AP mid is where I have the most impact. support is just cheesy, totally ult reliant but i rush 40% cdr with coin active its pretty reliable uptime. when i go tanky/top im at the complete mercy of my team to accomplish anything, i go anywhere alone and im just a distraction, cant even split push, and then no1 targets me anyway because im not contributing much besides the ult...

so i just force him to work AP top and i play more for wave clear and im just abusive waiting for melees to dive onto me so i cant miss. other ranged top laners (adcs are the worst) play more or less the same as mid lane with fewer ganks.

Which is why you don't pick him top into obviously disadvantages. Support Galio has amazing poke, a decent shield, the speed up for chases/escapes, and an ult to initiate/disengage. He's by no means the best choice, but picking Galio for anything but the love of the champion is missing the point entirely. Main a champ because you love it, not because it's meta, strong, etc etc. I've played him for over a season now just because I love the big guy.

I just detest AP build when it outright ignores his passive. He's not a mage, but an anti-mage, the way Veigar used to be when he scaled against enemy AP. He can become incredibly strong and durable against an enemy team with a fair to heavy amount of AP. Upside is both builds work so room for both.
