Most overpowered champions of all time v2

FalconPawwwwnch·9/18/2019, 1:07:48 AM·9 votes·10,299 views

From someone who's been around since forever.

V1 was from two years ago: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/FFPrLrWO-most-overpowered-champions-of-all-time

It's been two years, game has been patched, and my opinions have slightly changed. Champs below have been broken in way more times than just the specifically mentioned times, but I only put down the most notable. This doesn't count bugs like 1:1 AP Ratio Nasus or Beta Anivia bug. First and last post in a very long time but felt nostalgic today.

Cheers, Falcon

  1. TF - Double Card/Beta Version in general, AOE stun gold card, teleport E, etc.
  2. Jax - Beta Jax or When Passive gave 5/3 HP per AD/AP
  3. Xin Zhao - Release
  4. Leblanc - Release, lasted 24 hours
  5. Udyr - 2009-2010 Pre-hotfix
  6. Ezreal - When W was an AOE heal and 5 second AS slow
  7. Skarner - 2015 Juggernaut rework pre-hotfix 65% win rate
  8. Alistar - Beta - Season 1; not as broken as TF/Jax but was stupid for way longer
  9. Zyra - Release
  10. Kassadin - Season 3 95%+ ban rate
  11. Evelynn - When she had basically infinite stealth + autoattack 2 second stun
  12. Heimerdinger - could put 6 turrets down
  13. Warwick - patch 4.20 60% win rate
  14. Nunu - most broken was either season 1 or patch 3.8
  15. Vladimir - either release or when 20% revolvers stacked
  16. Mordekaiser - most notably season 5 worlds and his recent rework
  17. Ryze - Literally any iteration but most notably season 1-5 at different times
  18. Tryndamere - ~ 60% win rate with AP or when ult lasted 8 seconds + 300% crits
  19. Graves - Release, was nerfed several times and was still S tier in season 2
  20. Diana - Was massively nerfed on release; still was god tier until gutted w/ Rengar
  21. Rengar - see Diana
  22. Nasus - see Season 3 jungle nasus specifically; ask Stonewall008 if you don't believe me about this one
  23. Twitch - Madred's bloodrazor stacking + ult outranging turrets
  24. Master Yi - Most notably AP Yi, or when highlander was a basic ability
  25. Vayne - Release most notably
  26. Ashe - best ADC in all of 2010-2011 basically
  27. Lee Sin - release post bugfixes most notably
  28. Lucian - when he could dash back-to-back while removing slows
  29. Ahri - when she was "compensated" and almost hit 60% win rate
  30. Azir - Too many versions

Honorable mentions

Sona - almost hit 60% win rate around same time as Ahri iirc Nidalee - best poke champ in LoL history after healing Ezreal Camille - Release most notably Kalista - Release most notably Ekko - tank build almost hitting 60% win rate Talon - when black cleavers stacked Olaf - late season 2 - early season 3 Riven - too many versions to count Garen - Sunfire Stacking + Juggernaut Rework Gangplank - Season 5 immediately post rework Darius - Juggernaut Rework Sivir - immediately post rework in late 2013-early 2014; like 58% win rate iirc Dr Mundo - when keystones first were released he had like a 58% win rate Jayce - too many times to count Fiddlesticks/Rammus - 3 second targetted hard CC's, nothing else needs to be said Pyke - probably currently is his most broken iteration

Any recently reworked champ (besides NuNu, Kayle and Morde) - Sustain, multiple dashes, true damage, and cc.

{quoted} 30. Azir - Too many versions

All versions, to this day. Shifting Sands needs to go as a mobility spell.

You are missing dodge chance jax lol

Always interesting to see. Also really makes you realize just how busted old designs were and still are. Out of the top 30, not a single one is older than Season 5-ish. (Except for maybe Morde's newest rework?)

That Ryze that existed for a few weeks in Season 5 that could permaroot you at level 3.

Śhunpo9/18/2019, 5:29:19 AM3 votes

Skarner release rework actually had a 72% win rate for the first 2 days xD

Pyke

A assassin support who double as a tank, and share kill gold, while have the ability to be hit with a thresh q but instantly E away, and stunning said thresh if followed.

Rakan Ability to ult then q knock up under tower then dash out, unharmed. Maybe all these new champions having dashes wall jumps wall walks, or teleportation in side people are to much.

Fiddlesticks Fiddkesticks's [E: Dark Wind] used to have a mechanic where the Silence Duration would be refreshed/increased if a target was hit with multiple bounces.

Now a days, it still does damage for each bounce but doesn't silence you for longer than 1.25 seconds.

Fizz - 2016 Tank Fizz Zac Sejuani Maokai - Patch 7.9 - Tank Update. Zoe - Release Nautilus - When he received those unneeded damage buffs earlier this season MissFortune - When a Q bounce with pre rework Dark Harvest could 100-0 you. (Back when her Q did 50% more damage if it killed the target it was bouncing from) Karthus - Jungle Karthus with pre-nerf Dark Harvest. Kaisa - Patch 8.6 Kai'Sa when she received across the board buffs to her entire kit (She's still OP to this day)

Talon pre silence removal 100% needs to be moved somewhere higher (even if you only include the cleaver note). his silence lasted longer than his combo, was a blink, and he could run at you from stealth if he had ult up. 0 counterplay other than vision on his roam, mains had astonishing winrates on him even if his overall winrate was lower. Because his combo was incredibly fast and 1 mistake and you died instead of 1 shotting someone or aoe bombing a team.

After his silence removal he became more popular, but his numbers beforehand were enough to definitely be the best sleeper op champ of all time (except maybe the jg nasus sleeper)

Skarner was broken for less than a week and he did not even made it to live serves unnerfed. I think it's kinda unfair to compare that to champs that have been broken for entire seasons

Ahri almost hit 60% win rate ? the fuck, which patch?

AlterMordred9/18/2019, 12:36:03 PM1 votes

What happened with Kassadin?

Ahri Baka9/18/2019, 1:08:23 PM1 votes

You didn't mention Galio during his Q buff where he would 1 shoot literally everything with Q in season 7

Deathhawk8889/18/2019, 2:24:43 PM1 votes

Karthus pre DH nerf.

9.16 Annie(or whatever patch broke the game)

Spear of Shojin Jax

100% banrate Zac

RELEASE ZOE

The Kombinator9/18/2019, 2:30:13 PM1 votes

Not sure when, but Xin had over 95% ban rate for a time (and not after release). He was so op, that he could solo the 2 nexus turret with no minions. Zac keeps the record with 120% ban rate. (20% of the times was double banned in new system). I also remember when Kassa was unplayable, because always banned. Jax also had a short living 100% ban when his dodge made him totally invulnerable to abilities too. That was a bug, and were removed in weeks.

AP malphite clicking W Q R E on my team and getting a pentakill over and over again seems like the number one OP champion.

PurpleKingCrazy9/18/2019, 11:18:20 AM1 votes

And it makes me think of how Yasuo is Overpowered when clearly some champions are WAY more overpowered than him.

Oh and WW's winrate was based on the jungle item Feral Flare if I remember correctly.

I think the most broken champion in the modern time is Sylas and I think it's because of his great heal in his kit and that makes him way more broken than people would realize as an AP bruiser.
