Why was the enemy Kog'Maw attacking me with my Thornmail and losing NO HP?

I was playing Shyvana, I was super fed, but the enemy Kog'Maw took for his core items, didn't even get any boots and was just ruining me even though I had Thornmail. But I don't think I'm mad about that, I'm mad that he lost NO HP. Not joking. Even if I attacked him he still lost no HP because of his Bloodthirster and would still kill me in 3 seconds. So we going to see some buffs to Thornmail? Because it was useless against a marksman.

Because mr and lifesteal make thornmail passive useless as fuck ever since they gutted it.

A lot of KogMaw's damage is magic on hit from his W which is % life. I think he does very little damage that is returned like other ADCs. Maybe thornmail does return % of the % hp damage Kog'Maw does, but I do not think so. Also bloodthirster pretty much straight up counters a thornmail almost no matter how many armor items you have.

Nah - Thormails actually deals impressive DMG even to Kog. Rember all the magic DMG Kog deals does not trigger Thormail, true. But also doesnt trigger LS.

Betting my hat - he was miles ahead. And our Shyvana had nothing but Thormail. And Thormail gets stronger based on the armor you have. Even with 20% LS you still kill your selfe against an Armor Tank. Additionally - picking up Thormail is better if you have some M.Pen in Runes/Masteries or an Abysall in your Team.

I typically run Wit's/Gunblade/Rageblade as my core on Koggers and I our-heal Thorn by no small amount.

With this Kog, my guess is the side bolts from Hurricane were giving him enough sustain to out-pace the reflected damage. Not a huge fan of Crit Kog myself, though.
