Can key fragments PLEASE drop more often?

Because I have 9 unopened chests and I get so many but I can't ever open them because I get barely any key fragments. I open one chest every like 2 weeks which is seriously annoying and the loot I get is quite crap anyway. It's really annoying that I keep getting more and more chests but I can't ever open them because I have no keys. Please just make key fragments drop more often so we can open a chest more often. I know there is some system with them that affects how often they drop, but can't you just change it so we can get them more often?

Good for you. For every person like you there's a person who spent hundreds of dollars opening chests trying to get Hextech Annie. Hextech Crafting is working as intended from Riot's point of view. They're not going to change it.

Is it Riot's fault that whales like to gamble? If you have the money, by all means gamble it away if you want to, but don't go complaining. If you don't have the money to spend on a virtual game, then have a little self-control and enjoy what you get 100% free as opposed to complaining. No one is forcing players to spend real money.

It is still a system to induce gambling and frustration from having to wait for new keys. I am pretty sure that Riot made more money from this system than they lost due to people buying the materials instead of waiting/earning them.

It's not Riot's fault that people have no self-control and give in to paying real money for stuff when the player understands fully that he is most likely going to get something he won't use.

Yes, an educated and fully adult person with good self-control. We both know those people are not the ones that got Riot rich as hell. Even I, with pretty high patience have bought a few keys from leftover RP just because i wanted to spend it and find out what i'd get. Maybe it's a Legendary/Legacy? Hell, last time i got Spirit Guard Udyr so why not give it a try this time?

Anyway, Riot is a business with heavy emphasis on it's cosmetic appeal. No shit they had this all planned out. Otherwise, keys would at least be visible to be seen that they can be earned even if randomly instead of having a 0% chance of dropping and then on rare occasions, they do drop simply because the drop rate got reset on a new month. Hell, they could at least tell us that but guess "The tech is not there yet."

It doesn't matter who is giving into the system. The point I am trying to make is that Riot is not forcing anybody to do anything. By all means, splurge if you feel like it, but don't go complaining to Riot when you didn't get the most out of your gamble, and thats the key word: it's a gamble. The worst part is that this thread isn't even complaining about the contents, but it's just another "I want more free stuff because I feel entitled."

Like you said, Riot is a business, and they can't just go handing out freebies because the players want it.

Alright, arguing with you is pointless because you just repeated yourself all over again when it meant nothing and you're talking with huge generalization. Stop being so narrow minded! Riot is controlled/supervised by Tencent who propably don't give jack shit about player value. No way in hell would Tencent approve something that would most likely bring no money into the game.

I only mentioned that because I am saying that Riot already decided to give up free stuff, which is a blessing in itself. We shouldn't have expected a way to get premium items to begin with, but they did. My point is that we shouldn't expect anything more because they are already giving out freebies to us in this first place.

OP is complaining about it being frustrating that he has chests that he can't do anything with. he's saying that the system is unbalanced(cause it is) and produces a lot of waste(extra chests). "and on Christmas too..." WTF does that have to do with anything... Christmas is a cluster fuk of pagan traditions from all over the world that were rolled into one holiday that is currently all about "free crap" aka presents.

I have 13 unopened chests and i've noticed that since i don't craft/reroll/disenchant skins since i want to keep them for later, i've been started to just get champion shards recently. I'm not saying that riot is doing this on purpose like 150% of what they do but...

This system is designed to want to make you buy keys so you can get skins. If you do end up getting what you want, it is possible to get something for a lot cheaper.

On the other hand, this system is designed to also reward the patient who are completely fine waiting for 3 key fragments so they can unlock free content.

So those saying this system was designed out of greed, no shit its a company and they want to make money off the product they are dishing out to us. They game is entirely free to play and requires not a single cent to do anything. To those saying it was done purely out of kindness, wrong also, while it is a very nice mechanic, it does try to get you to buy keys by making them hard to obtain.

I see nothing wrong with it or their approach to be honest, if you don't want to spend money DONT. If you don't like having 20 chests and no Keys, who cares? you are lucky to even have a chance at free loot, i mean I have seen people get Elementalist Lux and other ultimate skins FOR FREE... So you have no right to complain.

You can earn 4 keys and 4 chests a month, so on average you should have no spare chests. You gotta win a fair number of your games to get all the keys though, which is probably where the issue stems from. They could lower the exponential curve of fragment drops so you don't need as many wins, but if they increase the number of key fragments that drop you're just gonna end up with a ton more keys than chests. And then everyone's gonna complain that they don't have any chests to open and we're back to square one. Most people don't play 50 champions (or even own that many) well enough to get all the chests anyway, so I can see why Riot doesn't think this is an issue worth trying to solve.

TL;DR I agree keys should be a little easier to earn, but the majority won't have this problem so Riot might not be able to justify spending resources on it.

Adding an increased key drop rate with a cap and a counter(like the chests have(just not tied to champions)) would work. Also, allowing players to trade chests for keys and visa versa would be a huge step in balancing out the disparity.

Seriously dude, just deal with it. Be lucky you have a chest to open even every 2 weeks because Riot didn't have to do any of this. They could've easily kept it like any other valve system and made it so you could only get it by paying.

What are you on about "free stuff". If you get a skin shard you have to get essence to upgrade it to permanent. How do you do that? By opening more chests and hoping that you can ANOTHER skin shard. It can take up to months to scrape together enough essence for you to upgrade a skin.

What are you on about, exactly? You somehow think Riot is forcing you to pay real money for chests when they obviously are not doing that. Over the course of not spending a dime on hextech chests I've gotten quite a bit of free skins just by being patient. Seriously, it is stupidly ungrateful how your mindset is.

"Oh no, it took me a month or more to scrape up essence for a skin that is 100% free and I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Please pity me because I'm not getting enough free stuff fast enough."

I don't care how long it takes when the bottom line is that the stuff is entirely free. They could've easily just said "fuck it" and decided to not give any chests or keys for free at all and kept the system an entirely pay to function deal, but they didn't.

If you're going to make comments about how you're not getting enough free stuff, than you should be the one getting lost.

It's a system meant to give you access to PREMIUM items for free. How can you ask them to make it easier for you to get stuff for free? I can see it as maybe a holiday event, but anymore than that is just being ungrateful.

People were whining about RP items being inaccessible so Riot made it possible to access it. It's honestly a pretty great system. I've gotten some nice skins from doing this. A couple of the skins were skins that would normally cost 900+ RP.

Also.. crafting is far from useless, I got an ultimate skin from my chest.. which is about $30 worth.. so yea

Ironically I've never gotten more fragments than in the last ~week or so. Feels like the rate went way up.

No.. Your drop rate just hit the reset (Which happens roughly once a month based on when you first received loot.)

I'm aware of the monthly reset and what I said still applies, I've earned like ~10 or 11 in the last week. Even at the beginning of a reset I'd be lucky to get half of that in a week.

I suspect you didn't earn many during last months reset and earned those at the end of last month and beginning of this month.

I'd be fine if Champion shards were left out of it. You can already buy shards directly with IP. Spending time and effort to get 3 key fragments, turn it into a key, use it on a chest, and then have it pop out a champ shard just feels insulting. I already own all the champions in the game. I don't have that much interest in getting them all to rank 7, and even then I could buy shards with IP.

That's a feature for newer players to enjoy (who riot fucks constantly), so I say we throw them one bone. I do hate champion shards tho, esp for champs I own.

Every time a new champ is released I just reroll 3 champ shards and get the new champ for free. I have enough champ shards for the next 22 champions they release :/

You get champ shards from chests or champ fragments. You must redeem those with blue essence into permanents. However, If you reroll three of them you get random champion permanent for champ you don't own. Not only that gives you permanent even If you don't own all champs, it also guarantees one you don't own, that's why he/she said she uses the reroll everytime new champion is released to guaranteedly get that one for free.

That's what I am asking, you'd get champ permanent even without owning all champs, that wouldn't be the difference.

If you reroll while you already own all champs, you get a random permanent shard(a shard you can instantly redeem for the champion the shard represents without paying any essence). But it's completely useless. Gives me a shard for a champ I already own and you can't do anything with the shard aside from essence exchange or rerolling it again(which requires a mixture of 3 permanent or non permanent shards).
