As I get older, I can't compete with younger players in terms of micro mechanics

League used to be about macro, coordination, and strategy. But for some reason Riot decided to turn it into a fighting game and they seem hellbent on keeping it that way. Everything does so much damage you need to have god-like reflexes to play. As someone who has tight schedule with work and studies, I simply don't have the time to practice those reflexes.

Past seasons Plat and Gold, now I don't even have the patience to get out of Silver on my other accounts. (I play in both EUNE and EUW because I live in the middle of Europe and my friends are from different countries)

Honestly, this is so disappointing. I've only really played ARAM this year because I still love this game. And there's no denying that League of Legends is still the best out there despite the fact that Summoner's Rift feels like a complete waste of effort. But hey, it's Riot's game and we signed the terms and agreement.

Being an older player myself, I feel it's less about reflexes and more about 'time spent playing'. The older you get, the more responsibilities you have, hence less time to play, practice, learn new changes, etc. And we get older we kinda have more stress.

I feel the younger guys are usually better cause they have more time, less responsibilities, less stress, more focused and competitive - they basically treat the game as a full time job.

I think the older we get we play for more fun, and ofcourse we want to win and get in high elos, but we just can't invest the time like younger folks can.

Yeah, I agree with this. A lot of dodging and such is expectation of what the opponent will do with their champion, and a lot of that comes with experience.

As a man who had to spend 10 hours this weekend in his attic installing power lines for a new outlet in the bathroom for the bidet his wife wanted (on top of whatever other responsibilities i have... parties... in laws coming over)... I can attest to having less time than some people to play.

I agree, I'v found that even going a single day without playing results in weaker performance even if just by a tiny bit, which eventually at higher tiers is enough to make the difference in some wins and losses.

Define 'pretty old'? I'm 33, and that's not 'pretty old'. It is however old enough for your reflexes to have slowed down.

I'm 34 and mine are pretty good. Have to be really, as I work as a stocker, so we're not all the same.

Yeah, things vary from person to person

^Yeah. Forgot to mention, if you play more your improve/exercise your reflexes also.

Also, most of us have normal jobs that don't require reflexes.

There are still ways to go about the macro game and focus more on strategy then reflexs. Going for late-game style champions with high scaling, or going for obj focused junglers, picking safe or focusing heavily on counter picking, etc. E.g. I've been winning a lot of matches lately by taking a vel support against low mobility or short ranged enemies, doesn't take much skill to do but it works really well.

Omg you have no idea how I feel the same about this.

I've been playing LoL since 2011 and I used to remember that I was pretty good for reacting and pressing my spells quickly during intense fights.

Now, I really feel like my hand dexterity has decreased and everytime I do a bad move, i'm like doing an inside rage by myself and I violently shake my hands in an desperate attempt to get back my old reactions :(

But I'm better for skillshots now :p
