If Sejuani was crowding out picks in the jungle, what is Cho doing in the top lane?

The general reasoning from what I can find is that, the balance team wanted to nerf Sejuani because she was crowding out to many picks from the jungle on either side.

What is cho doing in the top lane?

Tanky as hell? Check

One item power spike with rightous glory? Check

One shot potential? Check

Insane lane sustain/trading capability? Check

A lot of utility (AoE silence that gets to two seconds and a malphite ultimate on a shorter CD)? Check

Where are the nerfs for cho on that basis?

so i guess you are wondering why sej got nerfed and cho hasnt been touched. well sej nerf was for pro play lcs. where she is a constant pick in jungle cuz very few tank junglers were viable in pro play. hence her crowding out other junglers. however top lane there is a lot of ways to deal with cho and he isnt crowding out other top laners. right now in pro play the pick/ban top laner is urgot.

Not sure if this is true or not but I thought I heard that Urgot was pick/ban for mid lane as we could outdamage and outtank anyone there.

even before rework he use to be a counter pick mid lane due to tankyness. but for the most part you see him top in pro play i havent seen him mid yet ( dont mean it didnt /dont happen) i dont watch as much pro play as i use to. but urgot mid use to counter ad assassins pre rework i could see how that could still be used .

urgot is the perfect counter to assassin right now, he one of the best champions that can put Talon MonkeyKing Zed etc into their place.

None of those are pro picks except Talon, and Talon's only occasional. Urgot has nothing to do with any of them.

He can, but only under the right circumstances. He's a counter-engager, so he ends up countering a lot of powerful hypercarries and assassins, because they have to get right up in your face, and that's exactly where Urgot wants you.

He's a decent pick, but his kit relies on your team knowing what their doing. A common tactic in LCS rn is an Urgot top and a Cho jungle. Urgot's biggest weakness is people who can get away from him before he can chunk them, Chogath just prevents them from running entirely. And between the two of them, they can chunk just about anyone pretty damn quick.

TL;DR: It's not Urgot that's too strong, it's his synergy with Chogath (and high CC junglers in general) that is. (well, I mean, true damage too, but that's beating a dead horse at this stage)

Cho`s q is easy to dodge, until you realize he placed it behind you so now you have to run into his mouth to not get knockedup.

Or he can use his E to slow you and then he doesnt have to miss place his Q.[sg-lux-2]

Fuck, I WISH I could play against a Cho'gath top. All I get matched against are Aatrox, Irelia, and Fiora.

all i go against are pure tanks that wont go near me until they have their jungler diving me because towers are made of paper and since im not full tank i cant survive shit.

oh and the lovely darius.

I understand that the mini rework was neccesary to update him, but did they really have to eliminate the stack cap of R?

Disulfiram3 votes

I'll never forget that "mini rework", it was hilarious... they wanted to bring him in line with the newer champs, and in order to achieve that they had to:

  1. Add an hp scaling to his E
  2. Add a stack scaling to his E
  3. Add a slow to his E
  4. Remove the stack cap to his Ult
  5. Give his ult HP scaling
  6. Remove the stack loss on death

Imho there's no better photograph of power creep than simply listing what they had to add to Cho

Yeah, Cho really feels like on of those stat-check champs. Sucks complete ass if he's behind, but due to his scaling he can slowly stack his ult to 6 stacks and suddenly be way too tanky for many opponents to fight. Kinda frustrating.

Cho isnt even a problem LOL, urgot is right now

They actually did nerf Cho. Not recently, but a while ago they nerfed him pretty hard.
