Daily reminder, Ignite now does 505 damage at level 18, 300 or so at level 12

It does more than some ultimates, why should a summoner spell have this much power. I don't even see TP anymore in top lane, just people taking ignite. It's not even laning phase anymore, it's who can get who in ignite kill range first

It's to make sure that all the bad Zed players that miss everything but still somehow get the enemy laner to low health have a more reliable point and click finisher.

tbh, I, as a bad Zed player, don't feel satisfied when that happens. Could just as well die and work on skillshots next game.

It also makes it so ADC's get destroyed by any mage sup 1v1 in lane.

So much damage, so much broken shit and not enough resistances or defensive mechanisms deal with it all.. But Bone Plating is OP according to Rito, that's why it got nerfed like 2 times or even more, hell I lost count.

I have to take that rune 100% of the time just so I can hopefully survive all the burst damage that's available at the start and throughout the entire game.

But Bone Plating OP. The fact that a champion can deal 400dmg+ (Even if you take Bone Plating) to you at level 1 with one trade because they have Electrocute (Riven) is perfectly fine!

And I'm not the one to bitch/moan about champions being busted, if I have a problem with a champion I usually just ban them 100% of the time but I never had so many problems with a certain group of champions until this season and it's not cus they busted, it's cus the runes are busted.

Sorry for digressing, but I hear ya OP. Ignite is pretty strong atm and it's just more overkill and beating dead horses since we have so much dmg from runes anyway.

Bobloser355515 votes

Not sure why bone plating is considered op, just one auto harass in between farming and it has prevented 0 damage and will be on cd for the next 45 sec.

I don't know why either, it was a very good rune when it first came out but since its release they nerfed it 2 or more times. That rune is 100% required if you play solo, the level of damage you take pre-6 is ludicrous, as if it was already bad enough the damage just gets even more bogus at later portions of the game.

It's very disheartening and discouraging to have legit 6 tank items and still get blown to shreds in less then 2 seconds. The effectiveness of resistances have hit rock bottom in this season.

EDIT - When Bone Plating first came out it last 5 seconds and reduced damage by 20-50. Since then it was nerfed twice, reducing the time to 3 seconds after dmg and reduced damage 15-40. So I have to say that was a pretty big nerf, but Electrocute is fine. Being able to take 20% true damage is fine. Taking 1.5k+ true damage in a team fight that last 5 seconds is fine, bone plating NOT FINE.

The issue with it was that it was so much better than the other runes in the tree there was never any reason to take them. Was nerfing it instead of making other defensive runes actually useful the right call? I'm leaning toward no.

From my experience Bone Plating is overrated as hell. It used to actually be OP, but it is now something that isn't even worth picking most of time. Peharps against Riven or Pantheon or something with a cheesy early game. But otherwise it is meh and you are better off picking an offensive rune, especially one that doesn't fall off as hard late game.

It is especially terrible against ranged champions, which have an even easier time procing it with one auto then backing off.

Not to mention, if you are one of those champions that pick Conqueror or Press the Attack, and pick Bone Plating, you are getting no AD from your runes, which means, you have a harder time last hitting.

It's a must have in top lane, you can probably opt out of it if your in a tank match up since they lack the early killing power but when laning against some of the most common top laners having Bone Plating determines a lot in a trade outcome. If you have bone plating and they don't, you win the trade. If you both have bone plating the trade then your skill/kit relativity to theirs determines who wins, if you don't have bone plating and they do you will lose every trade unless they mess up or absolutely suck.

If you take Resolve as primary or secondary, Bone Plating is something you will take 90% of the time because there are no better choices and the fact that it gives you enough survivability to live through some of the burst it's a no brainer, you have to take it.

The only time I would forgo this rune is if I was playing with silver or bronze players. I'm by no means the best player in the world but I am playing with Plat 4,5 and Gold 1, 2 players who are actually pretty decent and not taking Bone Plating pretty much makes me useless during lane phase.

And when I do win lane, they usually still get a few kills on me with no help from their jungler.

Do I have to use solely summoner 14 to win? I really hate the lack of options here and like using teleport for its utility, but Ignite is too strong.

If you want the flexibility/ safety net of teleport then you give up lane strength. You can't have your cake and eat it.

But when the entire point of teleport is to be a safety net and you auto lose when you take it ... it's not much of a safety net is it?

Be serious. If you take teleport over ignite you are planning to safely farm and look for opportunities to tp roam. If you get ganked or die, you have an instant ticket back to lane.

You aren't supposed to be able to aggressively out duel an opponent wielding ignite while you have teleport. If you could, then ignite wouldn't be doing it's job and everyone would go back to how it was previously, taking teleport 90 percent of the time.

That's what I meant by having your cake and eating it. Choose to have more opportunities for an aggressive lane with ignite or to enjoy all of the benefits of teleport while adjusting to a weaker all in during the laning phase, not both.

I'll agree that you shouldn't necessarily auto win lane with teleport - I'll agree that you shouldn't be aggressive - but when taking teleport when enemy takes ignite means you lose automatically even if you play very defensively THERE IS A PROBLEM - when ignite at level one is half a health bar at least all you have to do is lose one trade and you lose the entire lane because ignite has a much faster cd time

See also TP never was at 90 percent of the time - ignite was already a good 30-40% ... it did not need to be in a state where it was a must take in three lanes

Because if you take ignite, get ganked, and die, you will straight up lose your tower if the jungler sticks around and its past 7 minutes. Yes, you can get repeat ganked if you tp, but if you have teleport there is a MUCH higher chance your jungler will be there to contest knowing you will also be there. If you don't have tp and you die there is next to no reason for me to attempt to contest that tower unless I am fed because it will instead be me getting dove while you are still running back to lane.

to be perfectly honest - at this point you don't need to be ganked for this to happen which is part of the problem - all the opponent has to do is kick you out of lane past 7 minutes and if you don't have tp and the enemy laner is there past 7 minutes he probably has turret ... thing is with ignite you can at least make sure your opponent ALSO has to leave lane at a much faster cd

You're absolutely right! Resolve runes suck monkey balls! You literally have 1 choice in every tier. Bone Plating, Second Wind / Chrysalis is decent, Overgrowth and MAYBE Unflinching but I find the Precision Tenacity to be vastly superior.

Basically you have to take all the runes that help you survive burst and sustain as long as possible or you lose the lane, but even then it's not always enough, the damage ultimately engulfs everything.

Conditioning needs a buff, Font of Life could use some work because it's basically a support only rune, and Unflinching/Revitalize need to be looked at. Personally I feel the value I get from Unflinching/Revitalize is too low for them to be worth taking.

Lol. Honestly I only take Chrysalis in match-ups that can burst me hard, if they don't have that huge burst I generally go for Second Wind for sustain.

Actually, the only Rune pages that are viable are Domination, Precision and Inspiration.

In Sorcery and Resolve most tiers have one legit rune.

Just look at second row of Sorc. Nullifying - Manaflow - Nimbus. And now imagine, you play a Rumble or a Vlad vs AD. You are literally stricted to one viable choice. This is BS. Old masteries at least had something to offer.

And they removed Iron Skin/Mirror shell or wharever was it called. You had choices to get Armor, MR or both. But yeah, ruin tanks because they were tanky. And now look at a Domination or Precision row. You have a choice to get Healing from ability/Movement speed/item CDR or Ult CDR from unique takedows. You have options to choose from. And not to talk about the Legend Stacks row in Precision. (THEY PUT A BONUS TENACITY RUNE INTO THE ADC RUNE PAGE WTF)

The best thing they could do is to revert this whole Runes Reforged, and bring back the old Masteries.

I hate it as a summoner spell, it beats any skill purpose when dueling someone. It's basically a massive screw you 'go ahead and burn', and it allows them to finish you off without them needing to do something themselves.

This summoner spell used to function as a finish off when the enemy is really low, but now people just ignite when someone is almost half health and they burn to death. Just nerf it or remove it.

This complaining about Ignite over the past couple days on the forums has been by far the most autistic thing I've seen on LoL for a while. Do you even realize how much CS you're giving up by taking Ignite over TP top lane? How much more vulnerable your top tower is? How little presence you have on the map?

Ignite has 2 purposes: Shit on people in a 1v1 scenario, or have a tool that prevents you from being all-inned early in the game. I have no issues with ignite atm. I think its perfectly balanced, sorry.

Child of the Pit12 votes

you may lose 2 waves of CS, thats 210 Gold, 270 if you also happen to lose a Siege minion.

Killing an enemy champion can give you 300 and more gold.

So it's safe to say Ignite is more gold efficient.

Not to mention, when you kill your enemy laner and recall, he won't be there to destroy your tower, and if 3 or 4 people come top to destroy your tower, you won't stay anyways, else they would just dive you and destroy it anyways.

And when im gonna play against champs like Vladimir or Mundo on top, im surely gonna pick ignite over teleport.

The gold is the least of your problems. It's the permanent xp lead you gain over whoever died to ignite that makes sure you will always have lane dominance since you'll always hit level up first.

I'm sorry but your assessment is poor. I miss, what, 100 gold? However I stand to gain 400 or 300g for getting a kill on the enemy laner. Not to mention my ignite comes back faster than your TP meaning I can kill you again and get further ahead. This is an early game meta boy. If you win early, chances are you'll win. TP offers nothing atm.

Think of this scenario. You pick TP and enemy picks ignite. You get poked out of lane and TP back in. Enemy jgl ganks and now you're low and have to back again. Who's losing? Think.

One is one scenario

How about other scenarios? Where you (with TP) roam bot lane to get your bot lane double kill, towers and possibly a dragon?

In that scenario, TP becomes much more effective and superior to ignite. The question is, how often does one scenario happen over the other

Personally, with Tanks being so weak, it means everyone is playing bruisers or assassins. It means there is higher chance of ignite being taken. Once(hopefully) tanks are buffed, you will see Nauts and other tanks going top, wave clearing, and roaming with TP. Yes, these guys will get killed in top lane to dives or champions that take ignite

Anin7772 votes

Yes, this is possible. I mean it happens when people play Shen. And if that happens, good. But let me throw two more scenarios. What if I go bot and get nothing? Or worse end up dying? That's lane done. The problem with TP is that it's a high-risk ability because you have to think about when to use/hold it. This decision used to be easier when it had reduced cd when you TP on a minion and it had a wayy lower CD. But now, it's not. Ignite has more impact early and like it or not, early game matters a lot. Your scenario happens like, what, every 5 games? Mine probably happens every 2/3 games (anecdote). I'm not arguing that TP is a bad spell. I'm just saying it's not as good as ignite atm.

That'a true i can agree with that

The issue with ignite? You can also say that if you misuse ignite and don't get the kill, your opponent will come back to lane with full HP/items to win lane.

While I agree Ignite has more impact early, i do think TP has a much bigger post laning phase.

I'm not arguing about TP's impact late game. I mean damage at late game is so high that half the time, you'll probably forget to ignite. But how many games reach late game? Games now are a stomp and usually end 25-30 mins while being heavily one sided. Ignite increases your early kill potential and that's really important. Again, TP is impactful, but for the current meta, it doesn't feel like it.

Not to be nitpicking here (Ok, actually I am) but some ultimates (at least 4) do 0 damage so you could say that minions do more damage than some ultimates and it would still be true.

Alistar Bard DrMundo Janna Kaisa Kalista Kayle Kindred Lulu Ryze Shen Soraka TahmKench Taric TryndamereZilean Zoe

Just for the record, I didn't count ults that gave stat increases that don't directly do damage, such as Yi and Siv, because that indirectly causes an increase in damage output. Perhaps that argument should also count for the likes of Ali, Mundo, Kayle, Taric, Tryn, etc. When I started this, I only thought of the teleport guys (Ryze, Shen, Zoe and TK) but there's quite a few champs who don't get additional damage from their ults (and a few more I didn't include because they get combat stats that are not damage)

Anyway, yea, ignite is kinda silly right now.

It is, most champion with only there scaling health are about 1300, that's a bit lower then a quarter, most champion except does who build full on damage have additionnal health either from rune or items added to that.

I'm not counting shields and heals (Even if metigated) that, depending on the situation and the champion, in most cases, could make the 300 true damage of ignite go into either 100 or 200. No matter what, at level 12, 300 health is low life.

Shädäm1 votes

It does more than some ultimates, why should a summoner spell have this much power<

Well, if we consider that ignite supposed to be the offensive summoner spell, it is fairly understandable that it has much power.

If you just try to see the potential of each summ, you might realize that its fairly balanced (or that all of them is broken)

Like, Flash can giv a totally unmobile champion an instant short ranged dash. Pretty broken, but we ge used to it.

Barrier can give a pretty effective shield to a champion that would have no defenses whatsoever. I could continue, but i hope you get the point.

Summoner spells supposed to be op, and they are.
