The Misconception Regarding Mages in the Current and/or Recent Meta

Burst mages like Syndra have recently been breaking the game with near-unparalleled burst. There are people who consider these mages more broken than ADCs. There are many among those who seem to think these mages are simply being picked because they are strong. Those people would be at best half right.

People have been picking these burst mages because ap's have/are continually getting the shaft. These last few burst mages all have some kind of extra scaling that serves as a pseudo-bypass to the general lowering of ap values. The kind of damage these mages bring is necessary, because ADCS DECIDE THE FUCKING GAME.

The whole game revolves around worshiping the adcs so hard mid lane serves 2 purposes now;

1. To make itemisation difficult for tanks (or give the ADCs and easier time with tanks, whichever you prefer, its the same result).
2. To ERADICATE the enemy ADC off the face of the earth with as little counterplay as possible.

So you tell me, are burst mages the root cause, or a symptom?
