I now, officially have no idea why riots keeping DQ

Lady Hammerlock··116 votes·4,003 views

I don't know anymore,I'm neutral party here but right now

they've successfully -Damaged the esports environment which hurts them because thats a big $$$$$ source -Made the boards completely useless for awhile with the announcement of RIP SOLOQ may it join the heart of DFG -Encouraged and legalized boosting -Destroyed Q times and match making

What positives? -more people play ranked -less "toxicity" according to riot which is probably in game toxicity not mechanics wise toxicity

What positives? -more people play ranked -less "toxicity" according to riot which is probably in game toxicity not mechanics wise toxicity

Is that actually positive?

  • Not only do we not have any numbers conforming that more people play ranked, but even if that should be the case, their ranks are meaningless...because the system is still ranking on a per-player basis, but the most important influence on obtaining ranks is actually group performance

  • "Less toxicity"...I have heard that over years now, through many iterations of the punishment system. I can only count on personal experience, but toxicitydidn't go down imo. But lets assume for a moment that there actually is less toxicity...well, would that be surprising? Rank is pointless, ergo win/lose is unimportant, not only due to DynGarbage, but also atrocious balance and champ favoritism. If people no longer care wheter they win or lose, they are not competitive. No competitivity, less toxicity.

I was contemplating if those were at all positives, and all you said above are true

The irony is that more people are probably playing ranked now because they can get boosted out of elo hell...

A Liberal5 votes

The reason more people are playing ranked is because they got rid of the number of ways we could play SR before and stripped it down to Watered Down Teambuilder, Shiny Watered Down Teambuilder, and Ghost Town.

Michael Sykes1 votes

well, I think it is more the role selection than the dynamic queue itself

Mhihnj1 votes

or rather is that more people thing in percentage?

40% play ranked to 50% play ranked

franticFurball2 votes

Double irony in that would be, that those people are now in New ELO Hell, because prior to boosting madness, people could escape the "forever bronze" guys by ranking up.

Now these guys are all over the place ^^

and another right person i am agree with you but still some fangheys will say its a minority and i started to belive it you know why ? because yes there hell much stupid peoples out there.

Not to mention when you're in a group of friends you're not gonna talk trash. Premades are most likely in a voice comm anyway so even if they rage it's not gonna get picked up by chat.

I think the "toxicity" argument is so pointless and I just laugh whenever anyone brought that up as a defense.

Lirik1 votes

totaly true, i used to be toxic myself because i was super competitive, now i don't care anymore about winning or losing so i don't even talk in chat anymore, yeah i am less toxic chatwise but i am 100% more toxic mechanicly since i will not even care if someone need help i will just watch the game end.

I love how Riot makes the reduction in toxicity the selling point here and completely overlook the fact that they have gutted their competitive atmosphere. They say that they are trying to make LoL more like a classical sport, yet they have at every point failed to acknowledge the need for competition in such environments. They have just turned the game from a very well balanced hybrid competitive/casual experience into the videogame equivalent of 8-year-old Little League baseball. They might as well not even record wins and losses anymore, as they really don't mean anything.

Hardly. To take a game that has so much competition baked into its core design (like LoL) and just removing that competition defeats the purpose of the game. This is why pros have started leaving the game in favor of the tournament realm, so they can get that competition back.

Also they have no proof that dyanmic que is what made the toxicity lower. It's the new champ select that allows people their roles.

Dyanmic que makes the game more toxic. When you're getting camped by a 4 man? More likely to make people toxic. When you're getting blamed for a premade for everything? More toxic. Dyanmic que doesn't make the game less toxic

Funny shit is, it isn't even because of Dynamic Queue.

  1. Leaverbuster was updated to hand out harsher punishments = there go your AFKs.
  2. Chat Restriction system was updated to hand out harsher and faster punishments = there goes your toxicity.
  3. Role Selection was added = there goes your toxicity and trolling.
Grand Eleven2 votes

The way the round table QA went it sounded like they essentially treat the role selection as part of dynamic queue. This is how they come to the conclusion that in general it's been positive.

A Liberal1 votes

Duh, they are using champion select as a way to promote dynamic queue besides the fact that they are mutually exclusive parts of the game. Of course, since they were introduced at the same time, it's really easy to say it was because of dynamic queue, and not the awesome new champ select we got.

KONO RUBICK DA6 votes

Yea at this point, they don't even make benefits

More people playing rank to get boosted out of of bronze and shit.

ZERO risk of getting ban for doing it now DQ makes it all legal like hell some people stream it on hitbox/twtich

Wamuudes1 votes

PLaying with a team of higher-ranked people =/= being boosted, Skippy.

Being boosted is when you give your account to one of these people and hey play the game FOR you.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

What. Ofc this is boosting. The higher ranked people get matched against lower ranked people and still get their points (even when their mmr suffer a bit but as long as they win it's fine) and the lower ranked who get out by getting carried from his teammates=being boosted.

disregardable3 votes

More money for Riot. When playing League is a social commitment, people are less likely to quit.

rtbf221479705 votes

Then why remove ranked 5 teams?

disregardable2 votes

Because they sucked and dynamic queue is objectively better. Really, just read any of Riot's posts for that.

Vistha Kai1 votes

Especially loved that post about removing the "objectively better" Dynamic Queue from Diamond and higher.

disregardable1 votes

What can I say? Solo queue > Dynamic Queue > Ranked 5s.

FourVsFive3 votes

People getting the roles they want lowers Toxicity by a lot, so not because of DQ, but yah if people are playing with friends of course there be less as well I suppose.

Zoeeee2 votes

Why would they not have Dairy Queen?

rtbf221479706 votes

So sick of seeing this joke

The Yetii Rider2 votes

Less in-game toxicity means fewer players get banned. That means fewer people WookieCookie has to Smite, which means fewer Smite memes, so less traffic on the memes and support boards.

I think Riot's goal should definitely be focused on improving player behavior. If Dynamic Queue does that (and to the degree the round table asserted) then it's a win.

Voidrey8 votes

Though as it has been mention a hundred times on the boards, that's because of the new champ select, not Dynamic

kaltenashes2 votes

solo q cannot exist along with dynaq

no solo player would join dynaq if there was a solo q, its not a fair game for a solo player to be matched with and against premades, however dynaq needs solo player to fill teams compositions such as 2+2+1, 3+1+1

Jorencice1 votes

I'd still play DQ. So would my high master tier freind.

kaltenashes1 votes

you're one in a million, i've played normals against premade and it aint worth the tilt it gives

i've choosen not to play ranked since dynaq was released, still havent played the first of my placements and i wont until solo q returns

Wamuudes1 votes

You're honestly making a mountain out of a mole-hill. THere's no reason to keep out of Ranked just cuz of DynaQ

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

Aren't u the guy who's "master friends" actually sit in plat after u gave out their igns?

Jorencice1 votes

Nope.

Kyoko is bae is my buddy he's sitting at 22 lp in masters right now.

Grand Eleven1 votes

I've heard this argument a lot, but I have a hard time accepting that it's that hard rolling people into games when riot says they host 27 million daily players. I mean it's possible ... but the pool is just SOOO massive it's hard for me to accept statements like "you have to wait hours for a game" if it's built right.

More that I think about it, the more obvious to me that 4s are the problem. Just dont allow them. Other mobas have done this.

kaltenashes1 votes

i dont, the system would struggle to match only premades of 2 with premades of 3 because of role selection

Grand Eleven2 votes

To be clear, I'm talking about dynamic queue being in place but premades of 4 being banned. I don't think people would complain nearly as much about 2 soloq players getting matched with a premade of 3. It's the premade of 4 that drives 90% of the annoyance IMO. That event where you're the "odd man out". Any smaller and there are at least 2 groups ... or groups and solo players so the teamwork bar is more balanced. Plus it's infinitely easy to "fit" 3s into a game than 4s. 4s complicate things too much mathematically. Drop them and queue times will improve significantly regardless of rank.

As for role selection, so what? 27 MILLION players a day. These aren't trivial numbers. Yes you divide that three ways (roles, rank, groups) but when your mix-n-match is in the millions you should still end up with buckets in the hundreds of thousands for vast majority of peopel looking for a match. Leave roles in there ... it's doing very little.

Now granted at challenger tier you have a hard limit of 200 people. There I see a real problem with the system breaking down due to division vs sample size ... and that was a big part of the roundtable talk. But the disdain of DQ goes much farther down than just the top tier players. Everyone is annoyed by it. Again: i think the biggest annoyance is 4s, drop those and queues across the board will decrease as well as making the "odd man out" scenario no longer a problem.

Taarki2 votes

They didn't make boosting legal. Duoing with someone is not the same as boosting. Boosting is when someone logs onto your account and plays for you. Riot already explained this so many times.
