Riots words and acts towards the game are contradictory.

I'm paraphrasing here, but throughout the years they always said they want this to become more than a game. That people can hang out with their friends, family in league, talk about it and theory craft about everything and have fun with the game.

But all these changes lately, in my eyes is for casuals. Making the games short, damage creep up the ass, new flashy toxic champs, etc. I can't theory craft anything in a 20 min game that was decided 10 mins in, because someone is killing everyone in .5 secs. I feel like casuals won't have a problem with that... But the people that really like this game and we feel like you're ignoring us and changing the game for people that play 1-2 game a day. Let me tell you that if I had a better pc, I'd be moving on to another game, and I'm here since s3. Still love the game, but your actions are just too much since the dynamic q shit.

If nobody has had first blood in the first 2 minion waves I start checking if I was the only one who didn't d/c or something.

At the start of preseason I ended a game as Yorick in TWELVE MINUTES, like what the actual crap.

Riot always contradict what they say, anyone remember mute ping? "We want people to communicate"<< stupidest thing I've ever heard while I enjoy team blasting my ear with pings as a alternative to piss people off. Still remember Riot saying no to sandbox mode because they want us to go in head first in a game with no knowledge at all of a single ability and lose, I felt like the pro players who called Riot out on sandbox mode was the main reason they even release it sandbox mode because of the back lash especially from Hai twitter post.

In those two cases, aren't they allow to change their minds over time?

Leetri5 votes

No, you're only allowed to ever have 1 opinion and you're never allowed to change your mind. According to the boards at least.

Didn't it take them years to change their minds? Some of us don't want to wait until we're 80 for them to fix league-of-oneshots.

Ya they can but the way they said it was beyond stupid for the reasoning until they received multiple back lash. Lets not lie these 2 stuff like mute ping should had been in the game from the start of the 1st year lol was made.

You're right. It's funny. Especially with the blue essence rework. Because it's all front loaded into FWOTD, it's undeniable that they're catering to the 1 game a day player base. In a sense, people who play a lot of games daily are "punished" by the new system.

Sugar Momma1 votes

While this is true, as someone who used to play a lot of games daily, I already own all the champions and have over 100k BE from all the IP I had so the new system doesn't bother me.

Flawless Fetus1 votes

I've all the champs as well. And near 300k BE. I'm still salty that I'm "punished" for playing multiple games a day. Lol.

Waaaaaait a minute.

Now I know Riot will say one thing and do another. I'm actually convinced the Skins department lives by absorbing false hope, like psychic vampires or something.

But how is it contradictory to say they want the game to be more accessible and then make it more accessible?

If you're gunning for a wider audience, a more casual game doesn't contradict that in the slightest.

Not that I agree with this route, I am very opposed to the burst and mobility creep we're dealing with here, but I don't think this is a good argument to claim Riot's contradicting themselves.

Avios11 votes

It's not a problem of them making the game more accessible and casual, its how they are going about it really. They seem to be doing it and pushing us old-timers away.

SuperLuigiLXIV4 votes

And I agree. It's an intensely obnoxious direction we're going. I was just pointing out that just because it's a BAD decision doesn't mean it supports his argument.

Gotta be fair and logical about this stuff.

Their argument was to make it more accessible to talk about with those who were already playing. If you punish those older/more frequent players to gain a bunch of once a day people you are sabatoging your goal on two fronts. You have to read the words and the context more, the post was very clear.

SuperLuigiLXIV1 votes

Oh, I am fully aware of the argument. I never said they made a smart decision. In fact I hate a lot of what they've done the past few months.

But it doesn't contradict the idea of making the game more accessible, which is my point. Is it going to backfire? I would not be surprised. But that not what the point was. I just want to be fair about what we blame Riot for. They've earned plenty of blame on their own, no need to add anything to the pile that's not really true.

I'm totally on board that they're making another bad decision if this is their intention though, no doubt about that.

Riot acts very much in line and very consistent with any company (esp. those that are owned and controlled by a financial investor) - they optimize the game in the way that makes them the most money. Talking big about how they DON'T do that is just a part of that same strategy (and necessarily going to be contradictory, as the OP correctly states).

Do I believe they have created something more than a game? Yes. Would I love them to treat it that way? Yes. But they don't. They do one thing, they make money and optimize whatever they see that is in the way of making even more money (for their investors). Is that wrong? You decide whether it's a game or something more...

If you want to try something weird about that, gather a large number of people and sue Riot, make the case that they are a monopoly of something that ISN'T a mere computer game anymore, but rather something like "football" or any other sport. And force them to give up the game in a way that also OTHER companies are allowed to let you "play League" somehow.

Is that gonna work? No idea... would I bet money on it working out? Naw :)

Umm...there's no way this game will ever be something you share with your family and hang out with buddies in. Not if you're gonna go out and play PvP. The community in this game is monstrous. So many "kys" and "F Yous" and all of that garbage. Blaming Riot for the community isn't entirely accurate.

I don't mind going up against high damage champs because I like a challenge, unless it's completely unfair like some tanks. The thing I don't like is the idea of fast games. Trying to force games to end in 25-30 minutes is just a recipe for disaster. My longest games go about 40 minutes and there's probably a 10% chance of that happening. My shortest games about 15:30 depending on if the person wants to surrender. Finally I'm commonly seeing about 30 minutes of game. So if you take the means of that my games are about I'd say 25+minutes. 25 minutes is very short time to take out 5-11 towers. especially the way towers are right now. We have a problem when I play yasuo without lethality and can take a tower down in like 15 auto attacks. And if I'm playing full lethality champs like LeeSin for example is one I play in the jungle. I can take a tower in like 8 auto attacks.

Alternatively you can pick Leona with Demolish, kill the enemy bot lane and take the tower yourself.
